That is super sexy!!!
TheTurbanGuy
Thanks mate, glad you liked it ;)
JoeMangoJello
TheTurbanGuy
You already know 😉
SwayzeS
Seems like they'd have a headache all the time. He's wrapping that turban tight enough to cut off the circulation to his scalp.
TheTurbanGuy
It's definitely somewhat uncomfortable for newbies but not tight enough to cause any headache 😊
SonrisaFlores
So how does this work with people with sensory issues? I cannot wear hats or anything tight around my head, especially my ears.
TheTurbanGuy
I guess I just haven't come across that extreme case yet but people definitely had their hearing aids and stuff underneath the turban
Randazzo
I apologize for my ignorance, but I thought Sikhs did not cut their hair?
TheTurbanGuy
You're good, it's just like Hindus don't eat cows or Christians stay virgin until they get married. These are all supposed things that many people follow but lot of people don't :)
Randazzo
That's actually quite enlightening. lol
WennDuDenkstDassDuDenkstDannDenkstDuNurDassDuDenkst
How are you hearing shit?
IUpvoteFuturama
ItsActuallyDavidNow
Fuken Sikh, bro.
TheTurbanGuy
Damn right maaayttte 😉
distractedFreek
Man, I haven't seen a TheTurbanGuy post in usersub in forever.
thedtp
I had the same thought.
TheTurbanGuy
Lol I know, it's been a minute :)
MadamPuddifoot
We missed your skills! And smile ☺.
nopo
I gotta say, im curious if day to day turbans are as involved or if there is something like slip on ties where you can just put it on.
TheTurbanGuy
Not for Punjabis/Sikhs. I've heard people back in India actually get these done by a professional everyday (like a police officer or uni instructor etc)
nycjtw
no offence meant to your skill or business, but do they sell 'pre-wrapped turbans'? if so, is that looked down on (like a clip-on tie vs one you have to tie yourself)?
TheTurbanGuy
None taken mate. And yes there are some Hindu styles that come pretied but Sikhs/Punjabis look down upon the idea of getting a pre tied turban like a hat/cap.
nycjtw
cheers! love learning new things and watching these videos is mesmerizing! thanks for sharing.
Zange0
Seems a little low to be comfortable, but the end result definitely looks good.
TheTurbanGuy
Yeah it starts on the left eye like that but then moves by the end of it. Glad you liked it tho
graceinsheepsclothing
Do you get hired to tie the turban for special occasions or are these people you know?
TheTurbanGuy
People hire me to tie different styles of turbans for various occasions.
graceinsheepsclothing
I love that!
thegraphiteknight
Honest question: with the ears covered isn't it super hard to hear?
TheTurbanGuy
It's not super hard but it definitely impacts your hearing very slightly
AyatollahBahloni
That's really awesome, but having the turban overlap my eyes like that would drive me absolutely bonkers.
TheTurbanGuy
Thanks mate, yeah the turban actually helps in keeping the eye brows up :)
carlitosmatute
Why is that a good thing?
TheTurbanGuy
You know how some people have their eye brows coming down like they're stressed? In my experience people don't like that and would prefer their eyebrows pulled up lol
fyrekitten
Very cool. Is the top of the head not covered?
TheTurbanGuy
It is but just a thin layer unlike multiple layers on the sides
TheDaharMaster
Will it get messed up if you have to take your glasses off?
TheTurbanGuy
Yup if you do jerk movements but if you're patient with it, you'll be fine. I have some videos showing it
reichstein
I feel like the cloth being so close to the eyes would be super annoying to me. Looks like it would partially obstruct blinking. Not enough to stop you from blinking, but enough to be irritating/annoying.
Looks very nice though.
TheTurbanGuy
Glad you liked it, the part about being close to the eyes looks more uncomfortable than it actually feels, at least from all the first timers I have tied the turban on but yeah some people might find it uncomfotable.
VitaminJay
Hey, @op! Great to see you. Hope you've been well!
TheTurbanGuy
It's been good mate, thanks for asking. Hope you're living your best life 🙏
TheZeldaZone
That is so cool. I would never be able to do this lol I can't wear a tie. I can't tie a BOW.
TheTurbanGuy
Lol thanks for the kind words mate, it's not that hard tho
trinxter
Now you know how to get married if you're Sikh.
TheTurbanGuy
Lol 'A SIkh' 😂
nevergoingtogiveyouupnevergoingtoletyoudown
How do lazy people manage to deal with turbans? That's so much work.
TheTurbanGuy
They don't, like I don't do it when I'm lazy 😂
nevergoingtogiveyouupnevergoingtoletyoudown
Oh, I thought maybe there might be some kinda hack like a clip-on tie.
Delathi
Or a pre-wrapped one that's secured that you can pop on and off like a regular hat.
KingMagenta
That is so damn stylish, actually wish I could rock a turban every once in a while
TheTurbanGuy
We can definitely make that happen King 👑 😉
KingMagenta
I could never do that, I would feel disrespectful
TheTurbanGuy
Well I don't think so but I know there are some people that might feel like that and most of them are not even Punjabi or Indian lol
BayazTheBenevolent
He looks pretty healthy though.
TheTurbanGuy
It was probably more the turban style :)
pennypoohbear
I wonder if they get headaches
Wyrdbunny
Right? My hair in a headband gives me a headache. But sometimes you just gotta rock it anyway.
TheTurbanGuy
Yup exactly, I find suits uncomfortable but still gotta rock it for formal events, same idea, some grooms keep the turban for the wedding day even if it's uncomfortable (probably not headache level uncomfortable)
Wyrdbunny
I love that you are taking the time to reply to comments.
TheTurbanGuy
Yeah man, I enjoy talking about cultural stuff especially when/if I know a thing or two about the subject :)
TheTurbanGuy
It's uncomfortable for some people who are getting it tied the first time but not uncomfortable enough to cause headaches unless someone has that for like 2 days or something lol
TychoTychoAlba
My props to the bride.
Snuggelapolous
I too choose this woman's husband
TheTurbanGuy
Lol watcha mean
TychoTychoAlba
Handsome groom.
essarCakeCat
I now know to not speak too quietly around men wearing these turbans. Hope his partner-to-be knows this too 😁
mikeatike
WHAT
TheTurbanGuy
Oh they're gonna find out 😂
Lucallia
2 things i learned from this video. 1. it covers the ears. 2. it's open at the top.
TheTurbanGuy
It's not really open though, there's a thin layer covering the top of the head
Lucallia
oh really? I thought i still saw his hair at 0:15 when there was very little material left to cover it. Does he go over it later and spread the fabric over the top?
IHaveGreatKittenRecipes
That tail that bro is holding through the process gets brought around back and spread out to cover the crown of the head, you tuck it down underneath the wrapped parts so it stays in place.
EthanBolender
I’ve always been curious, what is the religious/cultural significance behind the turban? Never had the opportunity to speak to a Sikh man about it but the practice is fascinating.
TheTurbanGuy
Turbans have been a part of Punjabi/Indian and even Islamic culture for the longest time, people used turbans to protect their heads against sun or cold etc. The religious/spiritual people tie a different style of turban in Sikhi. But styles like the one above were introduced by British army and are mostly for style these days :)
criticalhitkoala
The 10th Sikh Guru, Guru Gobind Singh, mandated that Sikhs wear turbans in the 17th century to promote equality and create a unique identity for the Sikh community.
Sikh people are amazing. I do South Asian weddings as a video guy and every Sikh Punjabi couple has been absolutely adorable and sweet despite having swords all the time :) They tend to be the first to help when the community is in need. Wouldn't be surprised if they are feeding lots of people in the southeast right now.
criticalhitkoala
Oh and the 9/10 chance of watching the groom get down to the Tunak Tunak Tun from Dalar Mehndi on the dance floor is always worth it :)
TheTurbanGuy
Thanks for the explanation and kind words. Would love to work alongside you guys if there's ever an opportunity in North America :)
Twyll
I love the level of both how kind and how well-armed Sikh folks are. Love a religion that encourages "we don't start fights, but we DO finish them."
TheTurbanGuy
100%, although these days its hard to get them together to have a normal discussion on sensitive topics, let alone finish any fight but I guess only time will tell :)
austinwizardforhire
Is this warm? Seems like something that would get warm in short order.
mikenco
it's very thin on the top. A college of mine said someone tapped him on the head with a spoon, thinking it was protective.. it's not.
TheTurbanGuy
It's not that thick material but the sides can definitely feel a bit warm because of multiple layers.
austinwizardforhire
Thank you for answering my question!
