I’m a 33 woman, never had Legos when I was a kid. The details are amazing!

Look for Lego resale shops. We’ve got one near us, and it’s about half price, and way more sets.

I am still eyeing that massive Hogwards castle... But 400 euro's buys a lot of videogames, boardgames and books...

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

HOORAY! Welcome to the club!!! I hadn't felt Christmas consumerist joy in years until I gifted myself LEGO sets like I got as a kid. :D

5 years ago | Likes 175 Dislikes 1

Fresh bags of non-toxic plastic..

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Stuck in quarantine and was thinking of buying my first as well. This is my sign, thank you!

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I’ve built this one in 4 hours (no break)

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Welcome to the club. I hope you enjoy building your set. I know i've joined building the dozen or so i've purchased over the last year.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

There are also a lot of other solid brands of blocks out there. Check out my Battleship Yamato by Cobi: ?1

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

My husband bought me the Flower Bouquet this past year! It was my first LEGO and I'm 31. Only ever played with my brothers' before.

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Try minecraft. Infinite possibilities to building, only your imagination is limit.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Any hobby is expensive if you pour enough money into it

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I just got my other half the apartments set for her Birthday having got the central perk set at christmas. Loads of cool details in both!

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Get goats and make cheese. It’s cheaper

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

? 30 year old woman here, obsessed with lego!

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You will become this. But enjoy building!

5 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

SHOW US PICTURES!!!

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I just did the Central Perk set!

Welcome to the club, 38 now and been collecting since I was 10. It’s a very expensive hobby, check yard sales.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

The architecture collection is my current obsession... just gotta get Tokyo then i have them all.... so fckn expensive....

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I've been into the Lego Helmet/Art series lately. Bought 6 of the heads/helmets and 2 sets of 3 of the Art.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Do whatever makes you happy. Within reason

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Crack is an expensive hobby

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You can get the big bins for a good price and not just the sets. Sets are cool. There is an app called 'Brickit' That will scan your Lego...

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

...collection and give you other things to make with it.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Enjoy!

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Recently got the lego bugatti chiron. Absolutely fricken amazing 2 300pg manuals full working engine and differentials. Highly recommended!!

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I've recently started collecting the technic cars. I've got the Porche, Ferrari and the Charger. The Bugatti is next on the list!

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Might I suggest looking for alternate manufacturers? They all produce in the same fabric but lego is way overpriced. Should give it a try. >

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Look at this: CADA C61043w f.e.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

One of the best sets out there for sure, the lambo sian is at least as amazing so if you start looking for another big car, check it out.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I accidentally knocked my Lego Ship in a Bottle off the shelf last week. I was mad at first, but then I was "yay! I get to build it again!"

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Buy some in bulk (ebay) and build without instructions (or with free plans).

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Free-building was more fun as a kid than following instructions anyway.

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

As long as you know the set number or description, all instructions for every set are downloadable from Lego.com.

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Blue is bad, red is rad.

5 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Mtg i could put a large downpayment on a house if i had the money i have spent on the cards

5 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

Family on both parents side has history of addictive personality, and sometimes I just get the itch to buy boosters again... I shouldn't...

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Or if I still had all the cards I’ve sold over the last 25 years so I could sell them now

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

One of my husband's coworkers threatens to buy him a starter pack when he annoys her. She knows he'd get addicted again and spend $$$ ?

5 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Thats fucking evil

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Do meth. Meth is cheaper, and less destructive, than Lego lol

5 years ago | Likes 802 Dislikes 16

you don't scream when you tread barefoot on meth.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

(I know this is a joke but for those maybe considering I watch Meth destroy people everday do not do.)

5 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Less constructive haha... I'll see myself out.

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I do both... my life is ruined...

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Can't break your foot stepping on meth!

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

That’ll probably cause you to buy more lego’s

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's better than rewiring the TV.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

If you step on meth it doesn't hurt as bad either.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Doesn't hurt as bad when you step on it too.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You can stand on meth crystal in the dark & it won’t cripple you

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Stepping on meth means something very different from stepping on Legos

5 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 0

both harmful but one can kill ya

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Confused, which one?

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

And damage your brain. Straight up stops frontal lobe growth. The other one is a drug.

5 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

True, but you can't sell meth in 10 years for more than you paid for it.

5 years ago | Likes 117 Dislikes 1

and thanks to Chinas crackdown on producers.. You can't order cheap meth from China anymore, either. Sigh.

5 years ago | Likes 42 Dislikes 0

Just MacGyver that shit, I heard it's pretty easy. I learned it from T.V. once

5 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

this thread doing me a concern, fren

5 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

Thoughts and prayers.. but deep down, I know in my heart we can work together to make better meth than the Chinese

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Could be worse, it could be Magic cards or Warhammer 40k or building cars.

5 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Or pokemon such a money sink you'd think it'd be cheaper than magic but nope

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

MTG just released a D&D set... I bought boxes.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Yeah, I saw. It's ok, more like a souped up Core set. But flavour is off the charts. So good.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Foil full art Tiamet and classic art Drizzt. 4 packs in I was happy.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That'll do it. I bought a booster box, waiting to crack it in the next couple weeks with a bunch of friends and draft it.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Building cars out of MTG-Cards and Warhammer 40k minis!

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I am or have done 2 out of 3. My economic situation is reflective of that.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

40k and lego.... worth it.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It gets better. Now you made the thing on the box, break it all down and make something else! Anything you like!

5 years ago | Likes 87 Dislikes 1

I miss how back in the 90's the sets had pictures of alternate builds with no instructions on the back to show what's possible.

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Are there sites with plans for unofficial builds? My kid loves LEGO but is not comfortable making up her own builds. But we have many sets

5 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 0

Find pictures of smallish MOCs from other people and have her try and build them without instructions, or do it with small official sets 1/2

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

2/2 it gets you thinking about how things are built and not just the final product, there are definitely unofficial build instructions tho

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

3/2 sometimes you need to pay for them, a good place for ideas is LEGO IDEAS it's peoples MOCs submitted to be made into official sets

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Make it a game. Sit down w/her & the lego tub, set a 10min timer, & race to make cars, spaceships, the tiniest city possible…>

5 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

< It’s how my ex-husband taught me to be creative with LEGO while I was pregnant with our first kid.

5 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

Cool advise and now heartwarming ?

5 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

There is an iOS app called Brickit that scans the ones you have and give a list of things you can build

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I’ve never looked, but I don’t doubt at all there are guides. This term MOC means my own creation, might be a good starting point :0

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

There’s a lot of instructions on Pinterest

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I quite like rebrickable but others are available:-)

5 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

An Imgur post showed me an app called “Brickit.” Where you lay out legos, and take a picture and it shows some builds. Best for kids.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Try searching lego moc also try the moc section of brick link https://www.bricklink.com/v3/studio/gallery.page

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Use Flickr to show her people builds, builders use Flickr to show their stuff off. Hubs been building for Lego cons for years. :)

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Don't get into Warhammer. Talk about a money pit.

5 years ago | Likes 428 Dislikes 5

This

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

I like the lore, no interest in the minis.

5 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Came here to suggest this as well. Last week walked out of a GW shop spent 90+ on a box of flayers and one chronomancer.

5 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

A single flayed one sprue for $50. Just asinine. Shouldn't be more than $35. Get kill team ones off eBay. Don't let them sell that kit.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

5 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Very good friend of mine collects LEGO and Warhammer. I'm amazed he has an apartment and food in the fridge :O

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Depends. If you play in official events and stuff, then yes. Casual player? just use proxies. Hell, even 3D printing your own is cheaper.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

What if, and hear me out on this one: LEGO Warhammer?

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I've heard that there's a game you can play with them! Their not just to buy, half paint and leave on a shelf for years... mark me surprised

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I own a boat and play guitar (he told me to talk about money pit)

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Came here to say this.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

as someone who plays warhammer and collects legos. anyone spare some change? food? ill take a stale breadcrust....

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Best I can do is a 30 second rummage through either my bits box or the extra chaff from LEGO sets. I need those crusts for basing material!

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Tell me about it, I have a Tupperware of grey plastic shame.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I wonder how my parents managed to let me sink ALL my teenage money in it. Could have saved it to buy a car.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's not really the same addiction getting fed, though. You can't build Warhammer figs into infinite shapes, and you don't paint Legos.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

if you broke like me check out the vidoe games i love total war Warhammer planning to play some 40k games too

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

5 years ago | Likes 49 Dislikes 0

Man I miss my local Games Workshop. It closed like 5 years ago

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I had to find a hobby shop near me that also does RC cars & planes, slot cars, model trains, and other models

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

*laughs in 3d printer

5 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

I kinda want to see an official Warhammer 40k Lego set now.

5 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

Finally a plastic thunderhawk!

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

how expensive would that be.

5 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

40k

5 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

I just stuck lego mini figure heads on my space marine bodies. Beats my terrible face painting skills and looks interesting

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Look up Lego warhammer proxies

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

You are doing the emperors work

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Having to buy their paint that was more expensive per ounce than gold made sure I never got into it

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

What do you mean "having to"?

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Used to be back in the day that was the only paint approved for it

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Nah, recommended yes, but there wasn't any restriction

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

i just collect some of the books. And that's still expensive.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Warhammer and 40K look fun AF. I do not have the skills to assemble and paint dozens of models, so I lost intrest in playing.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Astronomy and Astrophotography is my money pit.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Bought a greenskin army in 00s for around 400$ and 100$ worth of equipment. Can still use it. Pretty cheap for a hobby if you ask me.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha. Laughs in 25k$ in plastic crack

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's like... It calls to you

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Gw is on the phone with a cease and desist.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I kinda want to get into it but I'm thinking I'll just get a resin printer to print minis instead of buying GW minis to save money lol

5 years ago | Likes 62 Dislikes 2

Also, check out heroforge.com

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Do it and become a 3rd-party seller so my wife and I can supplant her current one who apparently does absolutely no quality control.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

So serious question: How effective would it be to develop a 3D scanner/sprayer/painter for minis? Like 3d paint by numbers.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Obviously the finer/inside work would need a good touchup, but it could help with the literal broad strokes.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Oh god yes do. Friend of mine got a resin printer for D&D minis. She charges me a whopping €2 for a print.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Do it, a squad of SM cost like $1 and couple hours to print vs $50. Elegoo mars 2 pro paid for itself in a weekend.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

The only correct answer.

5 years ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 1

True, and that's great for home games with friends etc., but they made sure that wasn't allowed in "official" games and tournaments...

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

thats actually incorrect. only GW events (which arent the majority) have any rules on origin, and then its mainly 3rd party only. any 1/2

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

models you have made yourself are perfectly legal, and nothing prevents 3d printing. if you want to play it safe, 80-90% GW or 100% 2/3

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Another option is play something like Killteam or Warcry instead. Very low cost of entry (for table top games)

5 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

That's just a gate way drug.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Sshhhhh…

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This is the result you can expect. Need to resize the head tho. https://imgur.com/VDRhnct

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Until you see how much an STL made by a good sculptor costs and see how much isopropanol costs these days and how much you need

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

There's enough free STL and you can get the water wash resin instead

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm still not convinced about waterwahable resin..still see a lot of cracked prints because it won't rinse all of the uncured resin.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I have easily spent $500 on Warhammer this year. It's a goddamn trap.

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

You bought 4 whole models??? Fucking lunatic.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I built a 4000+ pt stormcast army. And I've got 2000 of cities of sigmar just this year

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

What about investing that money in a 3D printer? Virtually free figurines after that.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Printers are still finicky. Resins are toxic and need a space with airflow. Fdm are low quality. I like it, but the technology is still new.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Not quite free, but considerably cheaper. One of my buddies just got one, so I'll probably go to him from now on if possible.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The advertising and marketing techniques they use are very effective. I tried to buy nothing this year and am just pleased to have only …

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Bought a handful of things. Last year I was definitely out of control

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0
