I just hope their factory is well hidden.

This would be great, cutting their dependence on shitstain & co.

I always forget that all missiles aren't the size of the aim-9. This thing is a fast private plane and they replaced the cockpit with explosives
trinxter
Destroy the Kremlin and Putin.
ionlyregisteredtosavelinks
And as many russian lives as possible!
TheN8
Boy, that mock-up really didn't do the scale of the real thing justice. Holy fuck is that a big boy!

Moscow is 754km from Kyiv as the Flamingo flies, just sayin'.
RuminatingYak
Ukraine is good at producing weapons, and not just drones. Remember when they sunk the Moskva, the flagship of the Russian navy? They did that using their homemade Neptune missiles: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/R-360_Neptune
SneakyGaryTheSerialHorseDrowner
The funniest thing? They didn't just sink the Moskva, they BUILT IT.
"I brought you into this world and I can take you out of it"
ToSisPoS
The US military industrial complex is strangely quiet about tapping into this market.
By that, I mean, I’m surprised all the republican senators and representatives in their back pocket are not clamouring to support Ukraine.
SneakyGaryTheSerialHorseDrowner
This pretty neatly debunks the whole "the government actually answers to the MIC!"
Lockheed Martin would've had Trump fucking assassinated by now if that were the case with the damage he's done to their F35 sales.
ToSisPoS
So both Bushes were just warmongering cunts without any influence or pressure.

HEROYAM SLAVA!
Targe0
I mean, it makes sense, if no outside nation is going to allow them to use their long range weapons.
Might as well build your own so no one can dictate how they can be used.
JinButOnHisPhone
When this is over, Europe & NATO are gonna buy so much cool shit from Ukraine.
Targe0
When it's over, there might no longer be a need to have NATO, because Russia might not be a military threat any more.
As with Russia's birth rates, they don't really have much of a younger generation. So the men they are loosing in the war, they don't really have enough children to replace them as a fighting force in the future. So win or lose the war, Russia is kind of fucked for at least a few generations.
Rosenaa
We still need NATO to stand against USA...
Illinifan88
That puts Moscow WELL within range. Flatten that fucking cesspool. Followed by Putins "secret" compound.

was testing done in the russian proving grounds?

This looks and launches almost exactly like a V1 rocket from WW2.
Ibringchocolate
Yes. Someone saw that design and thought: eh, good enough.
alltherobots
(pounds table) Cruise missile is cruise missile!
zombiejedediah
At a tenth of the range, just under half the speed, and no guarantee of hitting anything, V1 is somewhat inferior. But yes, that's what I thought as well.
hollowboy
"no guarantee of hitting anything" is how almost everything worked back then :) Manned bombers often hit empty farmland, or the wrong target, or even the wrong country. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Butt_Report
idontknowyoufromadam
Filanwizard
I think this is how most land launched cruise missiles get going. Since unlike when released from a bomber they do not have existing forward speed.

Giving the invaders the ol' pink torpedo.

I hope Ukraine puts them on boats and trucks and attacks Russian infrastructure from all sides. Stop China and India from buying Russian oil, destroy the rail lines between the countries, etc. Grind the .ru economy into dust. If you can't hit the head, hit the wallet.
DeviousWay
Watch the video. The things huge. And any boat or truck carrying one to the flank would be an easy and visible target. Nah, these are great deep target strikers while the smaller swarm swarms are good for flanking. As they are easier to move.

Very good.

I got a lot of target suggestions. That's one of 'em.
hairytrigga
enigma26a
Yes! The Kerch Bridge should be an early target. Use ten if needed to get the job done.
TosokTheRodentHunter
Why flamingo?
wadeye
The first prototypes accidentally turned pink due to an error at the factory, and were given the nickname Flamingo, which stuck.
TosokTheRodentHunter
Ah interesting.
SneakyGaryTheSerialHorseDrowner
That sounds like a feature rather than a bug to me.
dreikommavierzehn
i'm over here just imagining, someone in that factory is standing next to that giant rocket with a sprayer in their hand and going "whoopsie wrong color. eh what can you do, I already started might as well finish it"
RainierAlt
Pink isn't exactly visual stealth, but if done right might still be anti-radar... but oh boy would bright pink missiles cause conservative Russia mental damage.
PotFox
Pink actually can be visual stealth in the right circumstances! The RAF used pink Spitfires during WW2 and the USAF did a study into different visual stealths and damn near painted the F-117 purple and the F-22 pink! They only backed down for political reasons, not because those colours don't work! So Ukraine totally should go blast the Russians with pink missiles, not only will it cause mental damage but pink might actually help hide the missile
RainierAlt
We just need a Purple Baron 😄
LogicalLimes
Ukraine keeps surprising me. When a country is up against the wall, it makes sense that their defensive tech would evolve fast—necessity is a brutal but powerful teacher.
This reminds me of how Israel’s close partnership with the U.S. didn’t just help in the short term, it built long-term strength in defense and intelligence. You’d think America would be drooling over the idea of Ukraine as a future ally: resilient, innovative, and conveniently next to the problem child in the neighborhood.
LogicalLimes
And here’s the kicker: all of this innovation is being born out of sheer survival. The cost is brutal, but the result is a country that’s battle-tested, adaptive, and building tech at a pace most nations can’t touch.
If the U.S. is thinking long-term, Ukraine isn’t just a country to support today—they’re shaping up to be one of the strongest allies we could have in the future.

the president of the US is someone who can't think what he's going to do when he arrives to the next room. rest of the regime is a bunch of sycophants and bootlickers. and his supporters prefer regression over looking to the future.

Also, fuck Russia and Putin. 😀
