McConnel has been in a coma for three weeks now, and is only 'alive' in the sense that the machines keep his blood circulating. They're just trying to keep it secret until august 3rd, so no special election can be held.
We’ve technically got one. They’re just not willing to come out with it yet. Hell look at what happened with Diane Feinstein, the one senator who was placed into the nursing home in Texas and no one knew until a journalist started asking questions etc we have a government that is ran by people who are older than the median age of most voting Americans and yet we are kept completely in the dark when they predictably start to decline BECAUSE THEY’RE SO OLD 😮💨
Honestly, I truly don't care if he's dead or not. He caused his damage already and has gotten away with it, so him being a corpse isn't even a win anymore.
And just every other GOP nazi before him, well after he's done as much evil and caused as much suffering as he possibly could his entire life, with no repercussions.
And there'll be a great deal of wailing and gnashing of teeth and demanding "respect" for him done by the Guardians of Pedophiles even as they instantly turn around and mock anyone to the left of hunting the homeless for sport for anything that happens to them.
"A person who succeeds to the presidency without being elected can serve a maximum of 10 years. If they serve two years or less of a predecessor's term, they are still eligible to be elected to two full four-year terms of their own."
Deadlines for a special election are historically set at least 56 to 90 days before the election date, depending on whether the governor's writ schedules a standalone election or merges it with the November general election.
People keep saying that but I can't imagine that being their plan.
The state is a red ass state, and in one of the last 5 spots in just about every metric. Republicans won't lose that seat, but right now they are now a man short in a dangerously close senate. If anything they want an election to get a rabid pro maga guy in there as Mitch still votes red but clearly isn't worshipping the god president anymore.
People keep mentioning that a special election could possibly put Massie in the seat, and Massie, while a piece of shit, is against the Guardians of Pedophiles on the matter of the Epstein Files and is loud about wanting them released.
Could be something that they desperately want to avoid any risk of.
Short answer? Brand loyalty/name recognition, possibly a little fear of the unknown.. Studies have shown that it's really hard to get an incumbent out of office unless they are REALLY incompetent or corrupt. There've also been situations where people who are unrelated ran, and won, because they share the same last name as an incumbent (or perhaps recently deceased? I don't remember now) and people just... voted for them assuming it was the same person. People are just cliquish.
Case in point: Kennedy. He was supposed to just be a vote siphon. He wound up getting the most votes for an independent in history and he did it with nothing other than his name. The Kardashians could have ran and got elected. Not because they are qualified, but because celebrity worship is a problem.
As far as age, we have no laws to prohibit ancient fucks from holding office.
Everything else, simply stated, is by design and an intentionally bad education system bent on indoctrination
privilege, young people can't afford to do the things required to try to get into politics, but ancient homeowners can afford to take the time doing nothing but campaigning in the popularity contest

No thanks. No president Vance, please. Let him finish out his term, and the next day, fall down an escalator.
Krossis
If we get Vance *now* he can only serve 6ish years max, if we get Vance after midterms he can serve 10ish years

Just has to hold on until August 3, then a special election can't be held if his seat becomes vacant.

I suspect he's dead already. But the GOP is going to pretend he's still alive until August to prevent a special election.

He might be in hospice care.
So not dead, but not far off it.

remind me why y'all keep voting old fucks into power? is there some rule somewhere that they have to be over 70?
