The crab totally understood the hand gesture. xD BTW the title of this post is Turkish and means "You can't take away my mommy".

all I can think of when I see those pliers now is that guy being frustrated that he couldn't catch a really fast noodle with it.

This is the same crabs species that might either groom their future mate by stealing a young crab and hold it hostage until its of breeding age, or steal the mate of another crab and run away with them, then impregnating them by force. Either way, the males are very, very territorial and aggressive come mating season.

The crab. The crab is telling the human that.

First its mouth parts wave back and then they get excited for the fish. Not sure I'm ok with that much emotion from a crab.

Plus the guy in the back tried to stop his friend from being taken

I hope it shared that fish with its benefactor.

8 months ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Wonder if they believe some hands become friend shaped?

8 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's the pinnacle of evolution, you think emotion would've been unnecessarily evolved away?

Thinking about the immortality of the crab

How fleeting are all human passions compared with the massive continuity of ducks.

This is the third video I've now seen of one crab hugging another to protect it from human hands. Think I'm done with ever eating crab.

If it helps, this is mated pair and the male is protecting/hogging the female from other potential males.

I assumed they were mating.

To me it seems odd to kill so many animals when each one only equals like 1/10th of a bite of food. Seems kind of wasteful, like killing something to eat its toenails.

8 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I am torn here, because like you I think thats one of the sweetest things I have ever seen. But on the other hand emotional crabs means asshole crabs too so I will I am eating one of those ones because damn they taste good.

I do not recall its species name unfortunately, but this type of crustacean is actually pretty nifty. You see the smaller one there is a female, and the larger one protecting her is her mate - a male. The males always protect their mate this way from predators, which is sort of adorable if you ask me.

8 months ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 0

Not just that species. Quite a few crab species do the same. I think it's more to guard from rival suitors than predators, but that's just a guess.

Problem is they taste real good, gotta evolve that out

8 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 3

Kinda hard when we only let the tastiest breed.

8 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Do they actually taste good or does the butter you dip them in just taste good?

8 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Different types of crab taste fine on their own or with spices and lemon, not so much butter. That's usually with lobster and then it's almost certainly the butter as lobster is a bit richer tasting and goes soooo well with butter.

Wait until you hear the cries of a dairy cow when they pull its calf away. Ruined me and part of the reason I can’t do meat and dairy anymore…..well also some atrocious results on blood tests in my 30s helped lol

You don't have to stop completely you know. And there are good plant based proteins already.

8 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

You might be surprised how easy it is to accomplish "less harm" already.

My family ran a small heard 80 head at peak. We always weaned the calves in the corral closet to the moms so they could still be close/touch through the fence without nursing. Still very emotional. Cow are lovely animals. I'm in my 40s now and trying to work my way back to the country so I can do it again.

8 months ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 0

Is there a reason they're not supposed to nurse?

8 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Weening is the act of getting them to not nurse and eat only solid foods/grasses. It allows the mother a break before the next round of babies. For the calves, they will be fed and watched in their own area. Once the process is over, they will go to their own field to live until they are sold at auction. The males will eventually be castrated. The females may be sold for meat or kept to join another heard for breeding. You have to keep track of what bull sired them to avoid inbreeding.
