I have a friend from Spain, and she said when she walks by construction workers in Spain and they don't whistle, she feels bummed and thinks she needs to up her outfit game.
Yeah this, the whole misogyny bit means their attention is wanted, clearly she uses it as a metric and is looking for it for self esteem boosts. Like calm tf down.
Showing some class works too. Met my girlfriend doing security at a fur convention. After driving away harassment, they thanked me for stopping them from "making our suits look even more shitty." To which I replied, "Miss, anything you choose to wear becomes beautiful." and it's been a few decades. Granted, I was trying to date her friend, but I'm happier for it.
This is my marriage. Tried to be funny with a girl cause I knew she was way out of my league and nothing would end up happening. Now we have four kids and no one can make sense of it, especially me.
My dude. You wrote it right there. When you look up anything regarding what women want in a guy, all the top answers from actual women are some variation of "funny, supportive, and nice/empathetic" in different orders. Every time.
And then the miserable Andrew Tate fratbros are like, "NO, the REAL answer is to add more MONEY and CARS and ABS!" which are all things that will get you compliments from other straight dudes.
You were funny at a woman once and now you must deal with the consequences
Well, a lot of outdoors general-labor construction jobs tend to hire guys who are functionally unemployable most other places. In part because few people want to do general labor outdoors in the summer. So it tends to come down to immigrants, and guys who are too stupid/obnoxious/trashy to work anywhere else.
Yes, I mean it's always the non university educated underclass right? They can't help it, they are too stupid and lazy to understand our superior white collar ways. /S
Maybe women are attracted to money/education, so those guys don't have to resort to hollering. Their college roommate knows your college roommate, so you get introduced that way.
White collar workers will drop not-so-subtle innuendos and throw in the "accidental" grope every once in a while. The strategies differ but the misogyny remains the same.
I worked commercial construction and on the ground floor (socially), they're getting super open about their therapy, encouraging communication, blackball guys that treat women poorly, make fun of each other for not pleasing their wives, it's evolving
That's anecdotal evidence, but encouraging nonetheless. Did you notice if it was only the younger workers who displayed openness, or the older workers as well? Do you think it's a generational thing, or is it really a change in the zeitgeist?
I do not understand why you are downvoted. I understood you spoke up against the stereotyping of construction workers and against classism, am I wrong? What is wrong with saying that?
No idea. That's exactly what I'm saying. It's almost always a blue collar worker and always an "unattractive" one with a beer gut and ill fitting clothes. One of the only office ones I've seen is that famous one where the slick attractive businessman is hitting on coworkers and it's ok vs the out of shape "gross" one. It's pure classism garbage. That behavior exists everywhere.

having worked in probation, like 90% of men you deal with work construction (most of the women are nurses)
