There is a reason why Trump fought so hard to keep those documents and why he fought to get them back. He was selling them. There is no other explanation. None at all. He was not keeping them as souvenirs. He was not researching some deep state nonsense. It was not he accidentally had them. He had them and resisted all attempts the government made to get them back.

Flip three and assuming all Democrats are good to go then the House impeaches. Flip 15 in the Senate and he will be removed from office assuming all Democrats and Independents are on board. They did go hard. The case was absolutely fucking damning. If they rushed it, it probably would have been less so, hence why it took time. DoJ doesn't just rush things, and they aren't there to do the political bidding of Dems for election purposes, either. It's not their fault that: 1) Cannon got appointed to it, 2) Supreme Court declared Trump immune which was gonna make things messier, and 3) the people reelected Donald Trump.

You absolutely cannot rush into a serious case that could involve imprisoning the previous President in a super heated political environment. DoJ doesn't play around with frivolous bullshit either, and always makes sure their cases are air tight and this one needed to be even moreso. This was fairly well covered at the time it happened. If you're asking if there's "this is how it all happened" investigative journalistic article with video of Trump saying he did this, there isn't one. But...
Trump asked ODNI to provide a list, CIA did report they lost a lot of people for "unknown reasons", and Trump had those documents among his Mar a Lago cache. And CIA was concerned enough that they pulled their top spy from Russia.

All these meetings are matters of public record and broadly reported in the press, if you're looking for a source where Trump himself says "yeah I sold out the CIA so their agents would all die" that's obviously not gonna exist. There's a point at which you have to stop looking for citations for conclusions and look at the documented evidence yourself, then use your brain to connect the two things.

It's then up to the reader to follow those citations to verify but there's really no reason not to include them to begin with.
