Acting like women don't do the EXACT same shit as men when in power is pretty misogynistic, George.

Speaking as a guy: he's not wrong

He was brilliant. Is it me or is this clip sped up a bit? Why?

Thats why I prefer spiritualism over organized religion. To be overly sarcastic... People who think land spirits should be respected always tend to care for the land around them, help it flourish, its symbiotic thinking. People who were told sky daddy hates pee pee touching or that theyre the "special group" often turn into fearful hatemongers and develop a sense of entitlement to the land around them and ignore the damage they do

Ah, yes... The origin of my username. (Not shown in this clip, but this part of his routine is where it's at.)

George Carlin was so good. I miss him.

Most reasonable people do. And now - It seems like we need him more than ever. All we can do is share that wisdom as much as we can because just about everything he said still applies today.

He’d have SO much material if he were still alive.

The world today could use strong dose of Carlin, Lenny Bruce and Bill Hicks.

Why is Denis Leary more famous than Bill Hicks?

Because there’s No Cure for Cancer

A very bright and pretty nice guy named Jesus reinterpreted the violent vindictive garbage his predecessors believed. Then some not very bright jerks turned his philosophy into an insane collection of fairy tales and magical but highly marketable religion that would get the people paying taxes to the Roman church again. After all that the brightest people devoted their lives to trying to make some sort of coherent belief system out of it.

why didn't that pretty nice guy Jesus say anything about how slavery is wrong? that seems like something that should have been a priority to address, especially since Jesus came to fulfill the old law, of which slavery was condoned, sanctioned, and given specific instruction FROM GOD on how to conduct slavery. Just food for thought.

How would you know if he did?Do you really believe that the Romans who loved owning other people would ever have preserved anything that criticized their favorite principle?

2 weeks ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

??? Your response made no sense, so let me reiterate on the odds you are not completely dishonest: OT gives instruction on how to conduct slavery, condoning it multiple times (Exodus 21 is particularly disgusting). Jesus never mentioned an iota of how slavery is wrong, or about slavery in any meaningful way. In fact, the most the NT mentions slavery is through Paul, who says obey your masters even the cruel ones. Cleared up for you now?

Yeah, since anything about "Jesus" was written 100 years after he supposedly lived, it's more likely he was an amalgamation of various prophets.

Lot of religions are started by a "hey, let's regroup and refocus on how this stuff is supposed to be about making peoples lives better" and end up re-perverted into the "hey, people follow this stuff, so we can use it as a form of mass control to get what we want from the masses!"

You forgot the step where Jesus's contemporaries killed him for daring to challenge and change the violent vindictive garbage. Or where many current self-proclaimed followers of Jesus still heavily believe the original violent vindictive garbage, when not creating their own.

I was shown this comedy special when I was younger, let's say around the age that religion stops being the thing your parents do with you and turns into the thing they expect you to take on as a responsibility. I listened to what this man said one time and told everyone I wouldn't be believing in their nonsense again. Every time I'm asked what happens if I did and there is a god I have the same answer, no one who will allow the poor and weak to suffer deserves to be able to judge me.

I recently went to 3 different religions. From the JWs, I got 'you're praying to the wrong god'. From the christians, I got 'pray more', and from the krishnas, I got 'chant more'.

What I did NOT get was anything definitive. I also have had moments where nothing comes out but anguish. NO GOD HAS EVER HELPED ME. No prayers are answered, no help comes, no comfort, not a fucking thing.

I got told by some JWs that I was 'praying to the wrong god'. Like- what- the actual god is such an insufferable dick, he can't come help, regardless???
