The force will be with her, always
KatInTheCorner
So often when you see some director people tout as a genius, you will see some poor beleaguered woman who edited the mountain of film and made the movie what it was.
KatInTheCorner
Patton Oswald has a great stand-up bit about this
firstgrade
She saved Star Wars
wecouldbehappywithoutcapitalism
Did you know after she saved it with editing he started calling himself an editor more than a director?
Mxlespxles
He always was a bit of a twat

OhIfIMust
George owed SO MUCH of his success to her skills.

That’s why he won’t release the original cut. She would get royalties and he hates that.
keyserv
Ok well...maybe....do you have any evidence to support your claim?
SalmonTheWise
He won't release the original cut of Star Wars because he sold LucasFilm and whole of Star Wars franchise 14 years ago.
TheDaharMaster
Yes. He is a man child who takes credit for others’ achievements. Most of the ideas for SW came from other IP’s
keyserv
Pretty much anything can be traced back to something that came before it, which also emulated something that came before that. Doesn't mean it's bad. I really like the idea of Luke deciding not to use violence to solve his biggest problem. The nuances of a plot and/or characters is what makes something entertaining. Not necessarily the origin of the theme.
SecondSince
So no. It's just your personal dislike of him that fuels those claims.
Buffoonery
That's not how "evidence" works. You're describing an "opinion". Given our current social-political state, I understand the confusion. But, trust me, it does make a difference.
TheDaharMaster
The allegory of the story itself was lifted from The Hero’s Journey by Joseph Campbell. The opening crawl was a direct ripoff of Buck Rogers, and the spaceship cockpit sequences were directly lifted from WWII footage. The fact that other people like Marcia saved the film in editing, and how terrible the prequels were leads one to believe he’s a mediocre “filmmaker” AT BEST
homoerection
But my dyslexic auntie saw a facebook post about it.
