#24 Gender is fake, but you can still engage with it if that's what makes you happy. Both things can be true. Makeup is kind of a way to fake your appearance but we're okay with people doing that if they like it.

Your appearance should be more customizable anyway. Even the shittiest RPGs usually give you a few premades.

#18 (hushed David Attenborough tones) “And here we have the Suburban Frat Bro Silverback at play- while unoriginal and tiresome, it is still fascinating to watch the dynamics…”

I don't have anything clever to add but your comment made me laugh and I just saw your very informative comment chain about dealing with fleas so thanks for spending knowledge and laughs.

#23 it's fun when I learn what weird tics go in which of my mental illnesses/neurodiversities. TIL my backwards overplanning is anxiety.

There should be a rule that if you relate to 3 memes discussing traits related to a specific mental illness, a doctor will pop up like a genie and diagnose you one way or the other.

#23 this my ADHD will never contemplate. "I need to be up at 8 so I should go to sleep at 9?" This would throw my work life balance completly out of bounds. All I would do is "work, be tired, sleep, work, be tired, sleep" I would rather kill myself.

Getting up at 8 means I go to sleep at 2 a.m. to get my for some reason legally required 6 hours of sleep. Maybe a little nap after Dinner to wash the work drain off and thats all the sleep i can put in that makes me not go suicidal.

#22 Dammit. I knew the weapon weights were a lie (4lbs is obscenely heavy for a sword) but I assumed they would actually check common shit.

Depends on the rope I suppose. We have a spool of 1in diameter rope at work that says its about 30lbs/100ft

#4 My nephew loved reading instructions and strategy guides for games, but basically refused to play them. He'd ask others to play so he could watch. He would have dug this. I think he now just watches other people play on YouTube and the other platforms.

I loved stealing my uncle's ttrpg guides when I was a kid! I think about buying some of the new ones for myself even though I have yet to play a single game, and have no plans to change that.

I never played ttrpgs until I got older but I always remember being fascinated by the covers. It can be pretty fun if you get a good group but it can be a drag if you get a bad one. Still worth looking into if you ever need a gaming hobby. You could probably get some older books for cheap though if you just wanted to browse them.

I used to save all my little booklets from my GBA games and loved looking through them even after I was finished with the game. No idea where there went. Real shame games don't come with much in that regard nowadays.

This is my childhood as well. My friend generation is lamenting those booklets with all the illustrations and images of the monsters and devices from the old Gameboy games you’d get. As graphics and game engines got better you didn’t need a pamphlet telling you what the story was or what monster that little jumble of pixels was. But honestly, looking through the manual on the ride home or before you could get access to the family TV was some of the best immersion, anticipation and wonder ever.

Yeah and tbh nowadays if I needed to see info about a game I'd just look it up, but still it feels almost like an art form was lost to time and that's kinda sad. You never knew what kind of cool illustrations or lore you'd find. Maybe I'm just being nostalgic.
