This video looks shot from the back of the room, closer to the shots, at the front tables, they would've been quieter, sound gets quieter with distance, and possibly drowned out by all the crowd noise. In the audience, you can see the ones closest to the camera react while others further away don't, at least until they see the others reacting.

I'm really sorry you got shot at, but I get what you say about the acoustics. My only experience of the matter was twenty minutes on a rifle range in Alabama, and that seemed so loud that it was impossible to miss, but I guess it's plausible when there's a lot of damping around.

Not all combinations of bullets and barrels are made equal. Dunno what the guy was shooting, but unless it was a rifle all the funiture and bodies could absorb the sound well enough for it to not be instantly recognizable. I also doubt the members of the wealthy elite up there would be very familiar with the sound. The lack of reaction to everyone looking away and panicking is pretty suspect to me, though they could be blinded by the stage lighting

I think the non-reaction is due to the acoustics of the room.. watch the crowd close to the camera.. they all show shock and are getting up while everyone is still chatting at the main table.. I think it was the crowd surging all at once that notified the main table that something was going on.
