tightening lug nuts honestly won't likely cause damage, but also won't do much to them unless you, and I'm not telling anybody to do this, slash their tire
loosening lugnuts, however, will have a greater chance of causing them issue, but will also greatly increase the chance of harming innocents in the process

It depends on the setup, and most can still be accidentally attached wrong. Each COP has its own ECU trigger, so if you put the COP for cylinder 1 on cylinder 3, 3 will fire when 1 was triggered, etc.
BUT that's not why it won't work. The reason it won't work is that the moment that engine starts, the ECM is going to be throwing misfire codes to the central computer, and light the dashboard up. A mechanic is going to have a hard time explaining that they should ignore the "Check Engine" light

My employees are to ask them to leave the premises, tell them to not come back without a warrant. If they refuse, come get me. If they refuse me, I retrieve my pump shotgun from locked storage (its in a gun safe) and I "Escort" then off the property.
