Watch out! He’s wearing his Tactical Vans!

What an action shot!

10 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Ah yes, the tactical vans lo-tops that are required to spray a clergyman with mace.

A simple plastic face shield like nurses wore during covid may have helped here. Remember to bring yours.

I am not religious but I understand that you do not do shit like that to good people.

Who do I call to report anti-Christian attacks pursuant to the Commander-in-Cheetos recent EO

10 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

if your only tools are hammers, everything looks like a nail... on purpose.

10 months ago | Likes 50 Dislikes 1

Every*one* looks like a nail.

10 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Sounds like we need more hammers on our side.

Another attack on Christians

10 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

People who use american flag patterned face masks are basically wiping their face with the flag. It is a tremendous disrespect to the country.

10 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I'm less concerned about what they're doing to the flag and more concerned about what they're doing human rights.

10 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Yes, I know. But the Venn diagram of people who use the American flag for dirty things and are willing to do terrible things is nearly a circle.

10 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Good going, Padre! Seems he actually read the fantasy novel.

10 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 5

Trumps right, Christian’s are being attacked!!! /s

10 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

There you go, what I've been saying all along, these ministers and priests, they are all radical urban terrorists... or is he a gay, trans, immigrant, leftie? One of them anyway, I'm sure that Bondi or Patel or someone will tell us why he needed to be maced... /s

I bet Wink Martindale is turning over in his grave right now.

I'm pretty sure this happened a week ago, September 20th. (Photos: Faith leaders protest ICE activity in the Chicago area - Chicago Sun-Times)

I dont want to really call for it, but i think we need to be like shepherd book on firefly. "God doesn't condone killing, he is a little vague of kneecaps though."

10 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

But I thought the right were about Christian values?

Maybe getting rid of the brown people is more important now ig...

They don't like Catholics, though.

Genuinely don’t know which person you are speaking of

10 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

That took me way too long.....and if it's not a good joke.... then I need to go to bed

I’m not generally a huge fan of Presbyterians but you can tell something of the quality of a man by their enemies

10 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

I was ordained and married at First Presbyterian Church of Chicago. I'm proud that their pastor is standing with those Jesus would have sided with.

10 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

"They don't look like Presbyterians to me"

10 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Odd; when I was in the army it was a war crime to use gas on civilians, much less our own civilians.

Again? Didn’t he get it a few weeks ago?

This photo is from 9-20-25. I don't know how long Rev. Black has been at this. Source is the Chicago Sun-Times. https://chicago.suntimes.com/immigration/2025/09/20/protesters-arrested-broadview-ice

Respect for someone who repeatedly goes back for more

reminds me a bit of that very well-known photo where the vietnamese guy is being executed

10 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Great photo. Who gets the credit?

10 months ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 1

It really is. Kinda renaissance/ey

10 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

He's fucking wearing Vans!

10 months ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

Are those troops or COPs doing the spraying there?

10 months ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Federal law enforcement, which Trump has been increasingly using as his own private army since they're not bound to the same restrictions as the actual military.

10 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

If those were troops, their camo would match.

10 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Also the guy wears snickers, no boots. These are proud boys in disguise

10 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

They're Feds - now that the bar has been lowered beyond belief for education, intelligence, fitness, and ethics.. Source: Check out the "Light duties" footwear on Tubbyfuck #3.

Funny, they look like oppressive and invasive troops to me, exactly the enemy (foreign or domestic) real troops swear to defend the U.S against, don't they?

10 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I hear you, but at least at this stage, our troops are wearing actual uniforms and behaving (a little) more professionally. No, this is NOT an endorsement of NG wandering about cities of course, they have better things to do - but at least they aren't this sub-par rabble of wannabes.

I may be an atheist but I respect the hell out of someone that stands up to these bullies. Follow his lead when and where you can.

10 months ago | Likes 617 Dislikes 4

I think he’s following Jesus’ example

10 months ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 1

Unlike the “Christians” that are following MAGA

10 months ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

So... are actually atheist. Or do you accept that maybe there is s god? ?? Thats the annoying part. Maybe you are agnostic

10 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 31

Oh didn't see this until now. Theism/Atheism = Belief Agnostic/Gnostic = Knowing with certainty. I'm an Agnostic Atheist. I don't believe in a deity and open to evidence and given that the bigger the claim the bigger the evidence you'd need some very heavy evidence or I'm just not going to be persuaded.

10 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Idk exactly how this person is using it, but most common understanding is theism is statement of belief, while gnosticism is statement of knowledge. One might be an agnostic atheist, or a gnostic atheist (hard atheist), likewise for theistic positions.
Partly about confidence level, partly about burden of proof. For example I'm agnostic atheist about deistic propositions, but gnostic atheist about specific God claims like the Bible, since the properties can't coexist and the book is nonsense

10 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Thanks and well stated. I'm a Gnostic Atheist for the Christian Gods (3:1 whatever), Gnostic Atheist for Thor, but Agnostic Atheist for the broader concept which is vague enough that nailing down the definition of what a god is will definitely send sparks flying.

10 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yeah the thing with deism is an inherently unfalsifiable proposition and the same properties that make it unfalsifiable also make it totally useless. It's just vibes/ god of the gaps. They're pointing at the limits of scientific understanding and saying look! There's a guy there!

10 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm agnostic but my dad has a PhD in religious studies so I get lots of tidbits. Presbyterians are a low-control, decentralized offshoot of Christianity unlike American Evangelism or the Catholic church. It's closer to the Unitarian church which is actually pro-LGBTQ+. I suspect that the Chicago Presbyterians are just looking out for their community here and literally practicing what they preach.

Settle down

Learned new thing, thank you for sharing.

10 months ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 0

Presbyterians, Unitarians, Methodists (US methodists), and (ELCA) Lutherans tend to be fairly liberal in comparison to the wackjobs.

10 months ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 0

For clarification: United Methodist are more liberal. Global Methodist (in the US) recently spit with the United Methodist Church over views on human sexuality, i.e. wanting to exclude LBGTQ+ community.

10 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

The house across the street from mine is owned by the Methodist church on the corner and the reverend lives there - the various reverends we've had over the decades have been some of the most insanely cool liberal people I've ever met. Wife and I are both atheist but we even asked one of them to officiate our wedding cause they're so awesome. Another was an openly bi woman who I saw marching in pride parades in solidarity. One of the few religious organizations I respect

10 months ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Not all off shoots of Christianity are total garbage certainly. But I'm always suspicious of organized religion at this point.

10 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I think being suspicious is not the right framework. I'd encourage curiosity until you get a red flag. So US evangelism = brainwashed nutjobs. But if a church is flying a pride flag, maybe they're actually just cool people in a very specific book club. Unitarians, for example, are technically a Christian sect but they'll give sermons on Buddhist texts.

Keep it simple for the normies

10 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

As a Unitarian Universalist, here’s the simple version:

The social liberal philosophy of “let’s have tolerance and peace” didn’t start in the 1960s, or the 1860s, or even the 1760s. It’s as old as human history, and on MANY occasions through that time, traditions, religions, and churches have been based on that ideal.

The anti-religion zealots like to throw all religious folks together under the “ignorant bigot” label, but that’s just another prejudice in disguise.

10 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

It's the /r/atheism phase people will grow out of in time.

Source: former user. Still atheist but not a fucking weirdo about it.

10 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Very well put. And important here on imgur as we get the "all religion bad" comments all the damn time. Religion can be actively harmful, actively positive, or attempting to be good but misguided. If you flatten "religion" to a single concept and condemn it, you're just a fundamentalist but for atheism.

10 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My main thing is the moment you try to legislate your religion, we've got a problem
