They bypassed a detour, and two levels of barricades on a mixed use pathway, before smashing face first into the fence right before they would have fallen into my open excavation. After he fell he looked at us with disdain and raised his arms in protest as if his accident was our fault.
The cyclist is looking down at the derailleur that shifts the chain to different gears . It's probably not shifting correctly . The rider is not looking ahead to see where they are going.

It often seems as if they care more about the fact that in an accident others are in the wrong, while the cyclist themselves is smeared across the pavement

Looks like an aluminium frame. Broke my MTB- was told they're possible to weld but it's a big job and a skilled area, and may not be as strong. Was told it would be cheaper to replace the frame
Aluminum tubing for a bike is special. 6000 series needs to be heat treated and artificially aged after welding to relieve stress and restring heat affected areas. Very hard to repair. 7,000 is easier
On one hand the Delorean is standing where it shouldn't be. On the other hand the bicyclist clearly wasn't looking where he was going and also wasn't riding in the actual road lane either. I wonder who is more liable?
The De Lorean is not moving, and in the side of the road not blocking traffic (The open door might be dangerously close, but without a better view/angle, I can't say for sure). If the car is waiting for a tow or something, it would be totally right to put it there. The bicyclist is the one colliding with the car.

It's not impossible that the truck (or the prior road conditions, like a bike lane suddenly ending) forced him out of the road and he only had half a second to brake.
It could be 100% his fault, or it could be a lot closer to 0%. No way to tell from just this video

I recall having a 10 speed, which was just a normal bike with thin wheels and a lot of gears, feel like i kept my eyes on the road, and i'm a self admitted klutz.
I was riding my BMX and noticed my shoelace was untied so I put it up on the top tube to tie it and rode straight into the back of a parked station wagon. Chipped a tooth.
I've had this exact thing happen to me 40 years ago when riding my bike but onto the hood of a car. At least I had the excuse that it was snowing and I couldn't properly look forward because of the snowflakes landing in my eyes... Still have the scar of a piece of skin on my chin bursting open.
From the up-votes I'd say, you have company . I hit a BMW 3 series, no damage to the car, broke my glasses and bent the front wheel of the LeMond. Yes I was looking at the shifting .
I rode my bike to school growing up and one morning was determined I knew the route well enough to do it with my eyes closed. I almost immediately rode face-first into a stop sign. Got a nice cut on my eyebrow and showed up to school covered in blood.
Hopefully, as you get more experienced at it, you'll get a feel for maintaining a speed without needing to look at the speedometer so frequently. Having a car with a HUD is nice, though.

People are dumb. I watched someone with earbuds in while watching a phone screen step over the traffic cones and step over the barricade without even stopping, without looking up from their phone, and stride right into the closed back door of a Sprinter van giving them a bloody nose. It was only witnesses stating the person stepped over the cones and barricades that saved the construction worker from a lawsuit.
You know, that could be it. I’m struggling to see why he charged straight into that car, not even in particularly high speed. Because my first impression was that he did this on purpose - either as an insurance claim or to get the driver in trouble for parking incorrectly.
When you're on these long rides and you start to 'bonk out'/get exhausted and there are still miles until you finish your route, you just put your head down, hold the bars tight, and focus on keeping those pedals moving, one rotation after another. It's super common.
