...and saudi arabia. They and their genocide in Yemen are also part of the new axis of evil. Parts of Yemen look like Gaza does today because SA and the US have bombed the shit out of civilian infrastructure and leveled entire towns. Just because they were governed by the Houthis, who do more for the civilian populace than SA's puppet regime in Yemen ever did.
I could never imagine being so stupid, so shortsighted, and so hateful I’d support and continuously vote for the dumbest person to cause such a catastrophe.
Not that i disagree, but "Potayto potahto". If anyone thinks fucking children is consensual they're part of the problem. (Aka, rape is implied by any sane standard).
But also because 1 nation decided to give everything to 1 imperialist, nationalist, genocidal state. That same nation voted to continue to sell weapons and give over it's people and money to the genocidal state.
All of this is so child raping oligarchs can continue oligarch-ing.
I gotta say. Funding Israel has never been on any ballot ive ever voted on, but somehow the majority of states have an anti-boycott law on the books for Israel.
Yes, "raped". The people that don't think "fucking children" and "rape" aren't the same thing are part of the problem.
I doubt any of those rich people even remember the Epstein Files are a thing (and wouldn't be worried about consequences anymore, if they did). This whole mess is just unprovoked malice and greed.
Hegseth had it in his head that they could go in, drop a few bombs, and then Iran would come to the table for a deal. If was supposed to be the kind of easy win Trump likes: Bully someone, they give in, you get what you want. What he wanted in this case was to do away with the Obama deal in favor of his own as part of his mission to undo everything Obama did. They went too hard, though, couldn't back down, and now America looks weaker because of it.
I don't think they ever thought otherwise. That's just an acceptable price to pay for Nazi Jesus. They didn't think he'd be a competent president, they thought he'd usher in the Fourth Reich and save "the West" from The Great Replacement. Their reasoning is significantly less sane than that they thought Trump was a good businessman or whatever.
That's honestly the minority of his voters. For the majority, this would in fact be giving them way too much intellectual credit. For them, it was just "HAHAHAHAHA FUCK YOU" as the adult equivalent of a pissy toddler smearing his diaper on the wall cause he's angry for no fucking reason and just wants to act out. It just happened to facilitate our latent minority population of fringe christofascist wingnut assholes, and *they just don't fucking care about that* because they got to act out.
And for some of them (there are a few like this where I work): "Hahaaa! I love it! I'd be doing exactly the same stuff if I was president! I love him! Trump 2028!!!"
Remember when the US just wandered into another country one night and arrested their leader in his home? Anyway.....1600 Pennsylvania Ave, Washington DC. One whole wing is knocked down so probably can just let yourself in.
Hitler never received a majority from German voters in a democratic election. Trump got that twice. I think Americans owe the world to at least make an attempt at getting rid of him themselves.
Prescribed fire is an extremely useful land management tool. Among other things, it’s great for reducing fuel loading and therefore can be a great tool for preventing catastrophic wildfires. Burnout and backfire operations (most commonly done with a drip torch like the one shown here) are also extremely effective firefighting tactics
OK i trust you on this point, i have a firefighter friend but we did not talk about these techniques, i'd leave this stuff to trained professionals, i'm horrified how many "wild"fires there are this year yet...
Yeah the guy in this video is a professional judging by the Nomex, gloves, firepack, drip torch, and boots. Rx fire is a really tricky subject. Everyone wants fuels mitigated/managed and Rx fire is far and away the most efficient and effective way to do that, but when burns get out (which doesn’t happen often but it’s obviously a big deal when they do) it gets a ton of visibility, is heavily politicized, and it sours public opinion on the whole thing. Wildland fire has changed so much even x/1
It's interesting how at no point has anybody suggested the Saudis are going to do a damn thing about it except complain to Trump and quietly suck up to Iran.
I predict this leads to either WW3 or Trump firing a nuke. Republicans collectively growing spines and removing that orange bag of dogshit is less believable than the previous scenarios.
From what I've heard (not much) they are only going after Saudi shipping. I'm not sure how they are determining which ship is Saudi and which isn't, the flag a ship flies has nothing to do with who they are doing business with. But it seems that the Red Sea would be open to everybody else.
Hey, silly people! This is NOT the Strait of Hormuz. This is a different place, that leads to Europe. Here, some anti-American and also Anti-Israel muslims are taking advantage of Iran situation and making their own ransom demands. Totally different Strait and it will affect Europe more than Hormuz, I think. And Yemen is not even that near to Iran, the other part of that map is AFRICA.
The other end of the red sea is the Suez canal. If that gets held up as well, there goes a huge segment of global trade and logistics. Remember when that evergreen ship got stuck? How much was disrupted then? And that was a short term goof
Nah, it started with white supremacy. The eggs were nothing but an excuse. If we can't see the real enemy, we'll never beat them. The next time, it'll be an excuse for white supremacy, too.
Interesting. Maybe we should have technologically advanced beyond the 1900s, and stopped allowing robber barons to keep us dependent on exploding dinosaur juice, which in turn allows the middle East to hold the world hostage, and also enables the Epstein class of robber barons to make tons of exploding dinosaur juice money, which they use to buy black market children, and also letting the world cook itself from burning all the exploding dinosaur juice. Just a thought...
Please do NOT forget that at the North end of the Red Sea is the Suez canal. If THAT gets blocked up because of issues at the Bab el-Mandeb Strait then global trade REALLY takes a gut-shot.
It happened before, when a huge Evergreen container cargo ship blocked the Suez Canal, then the shippers had to change route, over Goodhope Cape in South Africa. Europe-Asia route went 3 weeks longer, but freight was finally delivered.
Another issue could be the Northern Route, going from Asia to Europe through the Arctic, and it would give Russia a huge leverage.
I remember that, it was hilarious. But yeah that was just a stuck ship, an anomaly that could be fixed. If there were extended fighting or risk to ships transiting then it would also impact the markets, not just the commodities on the ships
Yes, but the Saudis af been lured into the Abraham Agreements, of course and fortunately, they conditioned their joining to a "significant improvement" of the Palestinians.
But technically no war between the 2 countries, so the peace is cold, but it's still peace. I wonder if they were happy to watch Iran being bombed and eventually winning...
Houthis and Saudi-Arabia have been at war with each other for 11 years and Iran has supported the Houthis just as long, as it is uses them to fight a proxy war against Saudi-Arabia. Shipping in the strait of Bab al-Mandab has been attacked several times in the past years. I'm not defending the current US policies here, but this is really just hot air blown into a balloon that has been growing and shrinking since at least 2023: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_Sea_crisis
US is fo fucked up right now that it's just a shitshow of absurdity for other countries, no resources to waste to take over a wasteland populated by brainwashed morons. (not all og them, fortunately, but this is from a Russian/Chinese point of view)
if happens 1/3 of global oil trade will be locked up and 1/5 of all maritime trade. That will force other countries to do something. this an apocalyptic economic situation
It will be difficult for Iran and the Houthis to completely shut down the Red Sea route. Focusing on one country like this makes it more plausible. Anyway, targeting the Red Sea route takes the seriousness of the situation up a notch. Hormuz is important for oil and LNG, but the Red Sea is important for EVERYTHING. The link between East Asia and Europe has been fought over not for decades or centuries, but millennia, and it's more important now than ever.
The Strait of Hormuz isn’t closed by destroying ships, it’s closed by threatening to destroy ships. Blast one and the next fifty will hesitate to take chances.
Threats do need some level of force to be credible. The world community is familiar with Houthi threats to shipping, so a total blockade would be very difficult, especially since any shipments of support from Iran would be subject to attack. Targeting just shipping from one country (however they define what counts as Saudi) makes it much more feasible.
They've made claims like this before, but lacked the ability to actually discriminate targets so they attacked basically anything. I doubt anything has changed on that front. Also, fun fact, for a blockade to be legal under international law you have to be able to credibly enforce it, which the Houthis certainly cannot do.
I'm frankly shocked that things haven't gotten worse already. I know Trump is pouring out the Strategic Petroleum Reserve like never before to try and keep the market calm, but increasingly I think that the oil market just can't conceive of quite how bad this is about to become.
Trump is too stupid and too narcissistic to be an asset to anybody. At best he's a toxic asset, like a million dollar house with a five million dollar mortgage, to be flung at the other side in the hopes he'll drag us down with him. He's not an asset, he's a tool.
Indeed. That very stupidity and narcissism make him an easily-maneuverable tool, to people who know just which buttons to push. Which Putin does; he's been playing this game for a long time.
Then people are lying to you. The huge complex capital intensive Gulf Coast refineries could chew right through the sweeter stuff, but its kinda like having a trauma surgeon handing out aspirin. So they import cheaper heavy sour crude and export refined products and American shale oil because it's more profitable to sell light sweet crude internationally and use their refining capacity on cheaper sour heavy crude.
Doing that is less profitable. Take cheaper oil from around the world and sell for a higher price. Sell more valuable light oil to others at the same price you sell the formerly cheap oil. At least that is my super basic understanding.
Honestly. Other countries getting involved is the best chance for a real solution here and its what trump wants. He didnt get the easy win he wanted now hes bored and its becoming more and more obvious that hes fucked it up even to the stupid maga hats so now he wants someone else to take over. Its fucked but like the best possible outcome is nato going "oh for fucks sake" and stepping in so he can play interior decorator and keep slapping his name on monuments
The easiest solution that would probably instantly stabilize the region would be the deaths of the Trump family. In money, lives, effort, it's the least costly thing. Kind of wild to think about how much america has degraded into a kingdom.
ideally it would be world telling him to make peace or suffer consequences. USA needs other nations than they need us. If they refuse to stop the war on iran just stop doing business w/ the nation entirely.
morality and ethics get thrown out the window when it comes to geopoltics. What other countries choices will be what ever benefits them the most. There is lot of hatred toward Iran and dont want them to control the strait
What consequences do you GENUINELY think would work on Trump? At this point it's abundantly obvious he believe he's some sort of gift from God and that means he's immune to everything.
other countries selling off the US debt it bought would do it. If Japan sold its U.S. debt, it would trigger soaring interest rates, crash U.S. bond prices, and drastically increase borrowing costs for American consumers and the federal government. Because Japan is the largest foreign holder of U.S. Treasuries (holding roughly $1.1 trillion), such a move would send shockwaves through global financial markets. And that is JUST japan's damage if it did so..others joining would make it much worse.
if the big 3 (japan china & UK) did so it would put us into a worse country than the great depression in just days. Add on if more than just them did it and it compounds GREATLY. That Debt other nations bought is the single most damaging leverage they hold on the nation as it could literally wreck it it overnight.
Yes. In a just world that would be a reasonable response. Personally I'd rather they do the realistic thing and just take it away from him before he fucks it up more and tries to escalate to a ground invasion to protect his feelings. It would be better for the whole world including the US. Trump deserves to be punished and to suffer for just so many things. But putting an adult in charge and letting him pretend he won is the fastest way to end this and the effects of it.
Yes, but US companies control world financial markets including an obscene percent of international transactions. The EU is starting to build their own independent financial infrastructure, but it means that for a few more years at least they can't "just stop".
Yes and they are also spineless cowards who don't do anything about Israel or Russia or pretty much any invasion because everyone is afraid of pissing the others off so no one ever does anything.
I mean, sure. But I never said they would help the US they would take over peace negotiations so the old orange fuck weazel can go back to playing with toy trains and his dumb as dogshit war could be ended and stop fucking up the economy for the rest of nato. It would benefit all of Y'all AND the US if there was an adult negotiating with Iran instead of trump. Nato will never sanction USA just like it would never throw Russia out or actually punish Isreal for the genocide.
Typical tactic of people who don't know what they're doing. If they can't come out ahead doing it orderly and intelligently, then they destroy everything they can, create chaos so that intelligence has less importance, and grab whatever raina down from the sky. He'd celebrate a fistful of 1's if it meant that everyone else got one or two bills.
Until they're literally executing Dems en masse in the streets, lol no. Sincerely, a former asylum-adjacent lawyer (I did war on terror litigation against possible war criminals)
You’re welcome to come to the uk, we need more adults here too. Fortunately, because of what the turd has done, I believe you automatically qualify for asylum status.
While the U.K.'s official asylum criteria does on its face include most U.S. imgur users brave enough to post/comment, I highly doubt they are willing to automatically classify over 100 million estadounidenses as eligible; that could more than double the population of the U.K., and the U.K. is already in a relatively anti-immigrant stance right now. (Much of it from xenophobia centered around racial or antitrans bigotry rather than anything reasonable, but still worth noting.)
No. The UK considers the US a stable democracy (which it still is even if it might not be in the future), so meeting the requirements of asylum is highly unlikely. The biggest hurdle would be proving that your are at imminent risk bc of some aspect of yourself and that you're government can't or won't protect you. All things considered, not even trans ppl in the USA meet that level of threat to body/life.

So they import cheaper heavy sour crude and export refined products and American shale oil because it's more profitable to sell light sweet crude internationally and use their refining capacity on cheaper sour heavy crude.
Spunebender
Doing that is less profitable. Take cheaper oil from around the world and sell for a higher price. Sell more valuable light oil to others at the same price you sell the formerly cheap oil. At least that is my super basic understanding.

Well you see the oil cartel wants more money. So as long as we use oil we are bound to give the tax breaks, send them money, and get screwed over.

Have you noticed our Fearless Leader? We’re stupid.
ElbowDeepInAPoliceState
Because that's expensive.

Darkspire
We could fix it very easily by turning Israel into dust.
hotaru251
ideally it would be world telling him to make peace or suffer consequences.
USA needs other nations than they need us. If they refuse to stop the war on iran just stop doing business w/ the nation entirely.
Idkillpickanamelater
morality and ethics get thrown out the window when it comes to geopoltics. What other countries choices will be what ever benefits them the most. There is lot of hatred toward Iran and dont want them to control the strait
OtterlyMagnificent
What consequences do you GENUINELY think would work on Trump? At this point it's abundantly obvious he believe he's some sort of gift from God and that means he's immune to everything.
hotaru251
other countries selling off the US debt it bought would do it.
And that is JUST japan's damage if it did so..others joining would make it much worse.
hotaru251
if the big 3 (japan china & UK) did so it would put us into a worse country than the great depression in just days. Add on if more than just them did it and it compounds GREATLY. That Debt other nations bought is the single most damaging leverage they hold on the nation as it could literally wreck it it overnight.
gorillaClutch
But putting an adult in charge and letting him pretend he won is the fastest way to end this and the effects of it.
zechor
Yes, but US companies control world financial markets including an obscene percent of international transactions. The EU is starting to build their own independent financial infrastructure, but it means that for a few more years at least they can't "just stop".
SchuKadaj
Except that's not what NATO is for. USA is the aggressor, assisting them is in direct conflict with the defensive alliance that it stands for.
Someshithead241
Yes and they are also spineless cowards who don't do anything about Israel or Russia or pretty much any invasion because everyone is afraid of pissing the others off so no one ever does anything.
gorillaClutch
I mean, sure. But I never said they would help the US they would take over peace negotiations so the old orange fuck weazel can go back to playing with toy trains and his dumb as dogshit war could be ended and stop fucking up the economy for the rest of nato. It would benefit all of Y'all AND the US if there was an adult negotiating with Iran instead of trump. Nato will never sanction USA just like it would never throw Russia out or actually punish Isreal for the genocide.
GoddessPurpleFrost
Thanks, Trump for causing a global crisis when there wasn't one. Will some other country please adopt me so I can be around adults?
maincarrot
Typical tactic of people who don't know what they're doing. If they can't come out ahead doing it orderly and intelligently, then they destroy everything they can, create chaos so that intelligence has less importance, and grab whatever raina down from the sky. He'd celebrate a fistful of 1's if it meant that everyone else got one or two bills.

Depends- did you vote?
If you voted for Kamala, then happily.

Until they're literally executing Dems en masse in the streets, lol no. Sincerely, a former asylum-adjacent lawyer (I did war on terror litigation against possible war criminals)

Well, he is having more and more people considering renewable energy. Inadvertently good move?

If you have some qualifications behind you, getting permanent residency in Australia isn't as hard as it used to be.
SJBSavageInk
Really? I heard they had started locking it down from Americans. Also I read online that you can't do it past age 45. 😆
BeachsideBarghest
https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/visas/working-in-australia/skill-occupation-list - Aus official immigration website, have a look. Maybe some of you qualify?
BlindMeach
You’re welcome to come to the uk, we need more adults here too. Fortunately, because of what the turd has done, I believe you automatically qualify for asylum status.
dantetsaronis
While the U.K.'s official asylum criteria does on its face include most U.S. imgur users brave enough to post/comment, I highly doubt they are willing to automatically classify over 100 million estadounidenses as eligible; that could more than double the population of the U.K., and the U.K. is already in a relatively anti-immigrant stance right now. (Much of it from xenophobia centered around racial or antitrans bigotry rather than anything reasonable, but still worth noting.)
LespritDeLescalier22
Wait. Really?
shitheadtookmyname
