The Tea Party took over the Republicans in two election cycles by primarying incumbents they didn't like and showing up in force on election day regardless of whether or not their guy won said primary. This showed the party brass they were both a reliable voting bloc and a politically dangerous group to ignore. There is no reason we can't do the same, as last nights election results prove.

Exactly. Sitting out elections as a protest just tells the people running that you're unreliable and your voice doesn't matter. Showing up and voting in primaries and general elections makes your voice heard. Really really need to drill that in to people's heads to counter the decades of "oh, you're not 100% satisfied with your Democrat candidate? Just don't vote, let the Republicans win, that'll show them!" propaganda that's been pushed so hard.

OH MY GOD YES. I voted for Bernie in the '16 primary and watching my fellow Bernie supporters lose their shit and spend the year tearing down Hillary because they didn't get their way was infuriating. Too many progressives decided it was more important to punish a perceived sleight than it was to actually advance the agenda, and we've been paying for it ever since.

It really wasn't as many as you guys think it was. It was a loud minority, amplified by a lot of Russian disinfo trolls. The vast majority of Bernie primary voters voted for Hillary on election day. She unfortunately lost on her merits (and the Trump media craze).

I was a Bernie supporter and I watched it happen in real time. You don't need to defend us. Yes, most of us voted for Hillary. But Trump couldn't have won if everything hadn't fallen into place for him, and that includes the loud vocal minority who spent the year trying to tear Hillary down because they felt slighted.

1) She failed to campaign properly in battleground states like Wisconsin and Michigan.
2) The Comey letter regarding her email server 11 days before the election did a lot of fucking damage.
