Low contact, no contact and unfriending when you don’t feel safe as a human is 1,000,000% appropriate. It’s called self-preservation boundaries.

It was never about that. It was always just monsters pantomiming empathy because it's expected of them societially.

I’ve told family member that voted for trump that they are dead to me. My kid is gay and you voted for a person who will endanger their life. Fuck you.

2 years ago | Likes 38 Dislikes 4

Personally, it's not that I don't trust they see my humanity - it's that I don't believe they have any.

2 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

It is about trust. Clearly you don't care about anyone including yourself. I don't trust you with my life or anyone else's lives.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I had a friend who is bisexual, whose mom is a lesbian, and who has nieces who we SA, and she voted for Cheeto Man. I can't imagine that lack of understanding and lack of empathy.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I am so glad that I don't have to do this to anybody in my family.

Respect Existence Or Expect Resistance!

Just because you don't wear a hood doesn't mean you don't march with those that do. I didn't end this relationship, you did

2 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 3

If you sell out your friends and family for the promise of cheaper eggs and gas, you are an asshole. And I would say it needs to be tattooed on your head but you probably wear the hat already.

2 years ago | Likes 154 Dislikes 6

I'm firmly of the opinion that they didn't sell out friends & family for cheaper stuff. They sold them out because they're evil fuckers but still feel the need to justify their behaviour

Take solace in the fact that conservatives cannot live without liberals. We are the ones that create everything that is worthwhile in life and make the best of friends. Conservatives in isolation are miserable wretched creatures because of this and is why they are getting upset at liberals telling to fuck off. They don't want to be alone with their thoughts.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

1st, democrats didn't run on identity politics, it was always a conservative talking point to complain about society and create an ephemeral "other" to make their base feel marginalized and outcast. 2nd, if you voted because "the economy", and aware of the rhetoric that was being espoused by the conservative party/population regarding identity politics, then you've shown you value money over humanity. If people unfriend you for that, well, you get what you deserve imo.

I mean we're *also* disagreeing with their opinions.

A republican hating every one of your values but claiming to be your friend is the equivalent of telling a black guy “you’re one of the good ones”. They can cram that shit, I’m done

You are the company you keep. And you’ve proudly told everyone that you support the most unabashedly corrupt political candidate in this nation’s history. You want to be associated with garbage, don’t be surprised when a lot of people treat you like garbage.

Over the course of the week, I basically learned the other shift at work is overwhelmingly pro-Trump. I figured some would be because I knew they were conservatives and they'd likely vote Republican even if they didn't actually like him, but I was surprised at some of who fell for the "Biden's Economy" trap. I'm even happier to be on the other shift now than ever.

My cousin put this on his Facebook page

2 years ago | Likes 39 Dislikes 4

This is true. And terrifying. I'm a white male, but I don't trust the bootlicker brownshirts among my family and former friends to not turn me in as a sympathizer.

2 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 4

The thing that I can't get over is when I ask them "where'd you hear that?" and the subject is suddenly not important and they evade the question. But I can't get over it so I keep asking. If you claim dems are registering illegal immigrants to vote then tell me how you learned about this. I'm not asking for proof just tell me where you heard that story. But they never will because they are embarrassed to admit their source of news.

To paraphrase Granny Weatherwax 'evil starts with thinking about people as things'. This was an election about whether or not 'other people' are still people or not. If we disagree that all people are people, I have nothing left to say to you.

2 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

Other people dont get to have an opinion on your right to exist. And no person worth your time will so by all means cut those shitty people out.

2 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 1

Had to do this with a friend and I still feel sick and upset about it like I did something wrong. He's not a bad person but very misguided by those around him and kinda dumb

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Supporting him in 2016 MIGHT not make him a bad person. Might've been misguided. Supporting him in 2024 ABSOLUTELY makes him a bad person.

2 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

2016, he wasn't a known quantity. 2024, there's NO WAY people don't know what he's about. AND he's barely functional. No excuse.

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

My neighbor just told me he didn't know much about trump other than he was rich and his grandma liked him... kinda blows me away anybody could be so disconnected from reality then I realized there are probably millions of people just like him. Clueless and apathetic and just doing it cuz their family wants them to

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

How could someone be so oblivious to literally everything that's happened outside of their house for the entire last decade?

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I have no clue and I said as much, told him that j6 alone was disqualifying, then the fact he's a convicted felon and rapist and the stealing secrets to sell and then I reminded him that he only can afford to live where we do thanks to the money he gets from the state for his disability and that when Trump takes that from him not to knock on my door to ask for anything cuz he's getting what he voted for

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Its indeed not about difference of opinions, but difference of morals.

2 years ago | Likes 123 Dislikes 3

On ALL sides.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 32

Ofcourse. I doubt someone who has the moral standpoint that white men deserve more rights than women, people of color, disabled people and lgbtq+, would want to hang out with someone who's moral standpoint is that everyone should have equal rights. I know I would not want to be around someone who voted against those equal rights.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Shhh! Everyone with an IQ above 70 knows Trump is amoral... facts are not up for debate.

2 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 1

Herp derp both sides

The purge after both the 2016 and 2020 elections made sure I don't see any MAGA shit on any of my social platforms anymore, fuck those people who want Hitler 2.0 and I hope they get what is coming to them because the world is going to burn us alive and we don't time to deal with your stupid shit

2 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 3

It's about we live in a fucking society. If you're not going to make others a part of yourself they are under no obligation to do the same. Conservative whiners talk about cancel culture or weepy liberals, but this is 1,000,000% what they chose for themselves. They didn't give others a choice in unfriending them.

2 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 2

The day after the election I just quietly went through my contacts and blocked/unfriended. No discussions or speaking my mind to them. I don’t need to hear them out, and refuse to give them an outlet to do so, their actions already spoke volumes, now they face the consequences.

2 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

First major unfriending was a friend who would go on and on about how the government needs to stay out of people's lives, taxation is theft, don't interfere, individual choice is paramount, the whole nine. As soon as Roe V Wade kicked up he was "The gubbament needs to stop these murderers." Not just an idiot but a hypocrite as well.

2 years ago | Likes 244 Dislikes 8

I just straight up said "fuck you, dude" to a guy I went to college with the other day, in reply to his post gloating and mocking those of us thinking of leaving the country. Not even interested in his reply, instant unfriending.

2 years ago | Likes 50 Dislikes 1

They returned the right to the states to allow/not allow. The government GAVE the right to abortions with that ruling. They just undid that and returned it to the states.

If your state allows it, you're safe. If not and its really that important... move.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 96

Why have it up to the states? Maybe because the federal government's reach is too far, too big? Ok, let's make it up to the states.
...Actually some of them are huge. California, Alaska, Texas, they're bigger than some countries. Let's go with counties.
...Or not, some states have counties bigger than whole states. Let's go with cities.

...Or not, some cities have more population than whole states.

You know what, let's really slim it down in scope, and leave it up to individuals to decide.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

And doing it state by state was fucking stupid. Women are already dying in states where they've banned it completely (rape/incest included).

There's a reason why it was allowed by the fed, because some states are still living in 1825.

2 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 0

States rights is always a lie. The confederates wanted slavery to be a state’s right, then mandated slavery federally when they seceded.

Human rights should not be up to the states.

2 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Fuck you you fucking slack-jawed, mouth breathing ways of oxygen. Your mom should have chosen abortion.

2 years ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 3

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yeah, because your right to healthcare should depend on where in the country you live? Sure, just up and moving is so easy! Everyone has the resources to uproot themselves and their family, career, etc. Easy peasy.

2 years ago | Likes 64 Dislikes 0

I mean at this point why even have a federal government? Dissolve the federal government, everyone is saying how corrupt it is anyway. Make states responsible for themselves, and then let's see who sticks around. Doubt any of these large wasteland states, suckling at the teats of city state welfare, are gonna do too well. But fuck it, they want to do whatever, let em. Stop bailing them out and see how they like it.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

why would you give the states the right to kill and criminalize women? seems unAmerican to me. esp. now that they are going after miscarriages that happen naturally all the time.
also a shame not everyone has the resources to move.. if only we could get the funding for a mass womens(and their children) undergrounds railroad and relocation program going on in anti abortion states. i would love to see whole states turn almost men only lmfao (you know some the trad wives are gonna stay)

2 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 0

Ah, so it's all about leaving everything ultimately to the states. Which is why they're planning a national abortion ban to supercede states

2 years ago | Likes 48 Dislikes 0

Go back to the porn, bud.

2 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Certain rights and freedoms should not be "up to the state" of whether you get it. "States' Rights" is how we go back to slavery.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Yup. Trump has led their forces with chants promising to punish trans folk.

You vote Trump? You made me your enemy. Expect me to laugh at your every misfortune and hope you suffer from your own choices.

You won't get any help from me when he does the things he promised to do.

Those naturalized citizens are going to be REAL surprised when they are told they're not real citizens.

Ummm who the fuck cares. 99.99999% of imgur doesn't know you nor expect ANY help from you. Wow! Self important much?

I'll add the naturalized citizens being told they aren't citizens under the list of things that were never said and won't happen.

You are incredibly misinformed and either an idiot or intentionally being obtuse. They aren't talking about imgur. The post is about unfriending people. They're likely talking about Facebook.

"It won't happen" We literally had Vance "Ashley Furniture" say he believes the Hatians in Ohio should be kicked out and will work to do so. Fuck off, racist.

Oh it's absolutely about trust. It's about "I don't trust you to keep your mouth shut about where Anne Frank is"

2 years ago | Likes 582 Dislikes 7

"We just want to know if she's trans or not!"

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm pretty sure we're at the point where i DO trust them, to give up Anne Frank as soon as they can figure out who to rat to.

2 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

I wouldn't even trust them not to assault Anne Frank themselves.

"But Gaza!" Fucking morons, every person who one-issued this election.

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I know you're being sarcastic, but just to address the claim because many people aren't sarcastic... That's the most ridiculous excuse given all of Trump's plans basically amount to make the economy worse.

2 years ago | Likes 34 Dislikes 1

Yeah but lots of boomers excuses were that they were doing better under Trumps economy. hence the /s

2 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 0

My brother and I already told our literal boomer parents not to come to us when they needs help when the economy goes down the shitter because we'll be too busy putting out our own fires.
