"Saturday Night Fever" came out in 1977 so Disco was big at this time, especially on the AM pop stations. If you had an FM radio you might hear some of the seeds of the 80's. This was also the time when the Sex Pistols were punking it up in London.

I saw him around 1980,maybe '82. Still one of the coolest shows I've ever been to. Two hours of unadulterated energy. Ted looked at concert audiences the way a brick looks at a window. Now he's just a douche.

He did it the two times I saw him, roughly around the years you noted.

When I saw him he did the shit with the guitar and feedback,but then left the stage and we all just sat there for I dont know how long. Then suddenly the lights went out and one lone spotlight shone at the top of a PA stack,and theres Ted,who swung across the stage on a rope. Native american head dress may or may not have been worn. Dont remember. But racoon tail on back of pants,definitely. I miss THAT guy.
