Allegedly they had an argument just before the incident with his wife about his paycheck. They were on their way on to vacation and allegedly the man had no money whatsoever on his account. The wife was furious he didn't inform her of this before the vacation so to make the ends meet she forcily encouraged the man to go inquire fellow drivers at truck stops for their expired car insurances. Being insurance salesman this could've been the break they needed.

Using force to breach the barrier that is the vehicle window constitutes a violent action. Courts have upheld that such an action can be considered by a reasonable person to be a serious threat on and to their person.

It really depends on the states castle laws. In my state, this would be seen as attempted forced entry into a home/car (cars are considered the same as homes in this case). Him being shot would highly likely result in no prison sentence, fatally or otherwise.

You seem to ignore the fact that the aggressor used his larger vehicle to block the person in. Plus driving away could potentially lead to the person chasing you in their car and risk further injury to not just you and the aggressor, but anyone in either car or even bystanders. So a truly reasonable person would either try and de-escalate the situation safely if possible or remove the threat.
