One of the companies I rep had their biannual conference in Tokyo and took us there. I also found out there was a big scandal because it came out that the sumo fights were rigged.

Some of them were a number of years ago, there was a huge scandal, but it’s been cleaned up for a few years now.

The current sumo championship final is in Fukuoka rn, and on YT near real-time with a compressed time version on the“NHK World”app later.
Excellent English commentary by a guy who really gets into it and gets very excited about the match on the moves and tactics!!

Yea so good! The commentators are amazing. We watch the highlights version, bout 25 min per day of tournament on NHK. They only are online 30 days after though so you gotta watch all the days before that!

I've been to Tsukiji market in Tokyo, and can testify that they still catch fish the size of people.

Tuna can grow up to 13 feet in length. So they still do catch them the size of people.

The sumo guy on the right is Hakuho, greatest of all time, the Simone Biles of sumo. He had 16 undefeated championships (the next most in history is 8), and 45 championships in total (next most is 32).
