I guess im the only one who ever fought one of these and won. Sheared it straight off the crank and then still hobbled the bike 8 miles to a 4th of July party to impress a girl

It always left a red mark on your shin that looked like a frozen waffle hit you at 200 MPH.

A pain like no other, yet memories I'd never want to forget.

You don't run them fugger's in flippys. The back of my ankles will never be the same.

how about after they've fallen apart and your foot keeps rolling off the cylinder left behind over and over?

I have a permanent reminder on my left shin of the tiny cleat pedal from the road bike I rode from London to Paris - having gotten me all the way there without incident, on the way from le finish line (Eiffel Tower) and about three blocks out from the hotel, it decided nope, had enough, and the front outer chain gear bent in half, right as I was putting all my power down to set-off from the lights (biked was quite ladened with gear for the trek) - other pedal spun around and smashed my shin.

The other '80s danger being this damn thing made of '80s indestructium. We called it "the ankle smasher".

I remember a classmate was looking to get a new bike and her mom told her "Well if you don't like that style of pedals get another bike." She took her mom to the store and showed her that every bike had that style of pedals, lol.

I bought two different sets of peddles. One named “Bear Trap” that caused much pain. And some beach cruiser ones for riding to the community pool barefoot.

You can import the individual parts. You just can't import the entire thing pre-assembled.

Trying to go barefoot on a bike ride with these babies.

2 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

you'd stretch out your foot and try to pedal by the round post in the middle

Had those but i have shin puncture wound scars from the wide spaced 1/4" cylindrical studs on a bmx bike I had in the late 80s.

Yeah, Beartraps were EVIL ! Very grippy on shoes AND shins.

Mine are from the beartrap BMX pedals from the early 80s. The name says it all.
