The best part is that yellow hazmat sticker on the truck. Might as well have a sign that says "Danger: Nuclear Warhead. Do not touch."

....he's going to nuke Iran next week isn't he
ibuycrap
They’re just making sure Iran doesn’t get it.
GermanGuy79
I just saw this /gallery/allow-me-to-content-blast-you-WHJFfNC#2xfqiPh and I think with a little more skill you can stop the convoy. And practically anyone can do it.
LariCheltsy
Truck you, @Lassannn
Lassannn
Truck yeah!
cracklinoatbran
Just need Miss Tessmacher to create a diversion.
WhatisaYute
There were 3 of these sized containers in upper manhattan last night around 9pm. Holding up traffic everywhere. Probably nothing.
Wapusk
As a Canadian I like to believe that were I to awaken, without memory of the evening before, in the middle of a field I would be able to tell if I were in Alberta or Montana just based on vibes.
Resistance1000
I'm Canadian, too. If Danielle Smith has her way, the distinctions will become less and less until they disappear, but I think her ultimate goal is to make Alberta into North Floriduh.
Wapusk
Oy vey.
Sixsystems
I was actually ICE transporting a dangerous 3 yr old. /s
jaggcomputing5
And not an Iranian in sight
isthisjunkmail
Well…if they’d put a “Do not touch” sign on it, they’d save a lot of trouble for all those support vehicles, since everyone would know not to touch it.
Vidikron
Old business partner was a naval nuclear weapons tech. Spent most of his time inspecting submarine ordinance. According to him, they always flew nuke transports. Never advertised, even to the pilots. SOP was always covert.
Trimule
If you mean the pilots did not know what they were carrying - my brother was a USAF Major who flew C-130 transports. Their unit mission was flying all over the world exchanging new nukes for old ones ,that would then be "refurbished" and sent out as replacements. He certainly knew - Hell, I even knew. It wasn't any "Top Secret" stuff, just some very serious "trash hauling".
Joedog624
People forget the international incident that nearly occurred when we accidentally transported nukes from Minot to Barksdale without notifying the International Atomic Agency. Lots of people lost their jobs when that came out. Its not exactly a hidden thing.
StephenDeadalus
I lived this for two years in the early 90s. I worked at the Pantex plant in Amarillo Texas and thats where they store, disassemble and make all new war heads. it was an intense and crazy fun job.
VonSnootingham
Time to get movin'!
RuricOrhlandis
And someone in a Tesla, BMW, or Subaru still pulls right out in front of them with no signal.
SpikedDoggos
Don't know why it made me think of another winner

Fuck You Lassann, and the truck you rode in on! Is this your recording? Will the military be mad that you recorded? Why is hummer tailgating?
Lassannn
GoodEveningThisIsWhatAButtDoesPBBPPBBTT
This in Wyoming, Montana or North Dakota? Used to work in this field and I get ptsd looking at that white tractor/trailer (the Payload Transporter)
Lassannn
MT.
slidewhistlesymphony
Can verify. I live in a city next to Pantex, which has been the final assembly center for American warheads. We used to watch this and trains being escorted from there to another place. They do not play!

Anyone know the function of the white pickups ahead of & trailing the semi with the extended “aerials”? Radiation monitoring?

They do the same thing transporting spent rods

If it were to ever happen this is how I'd want to watch it. And then wait for the blast wave.
murderonamonkey
I was always under the impression these routes were top secret to avoid any possibility of thefts?
baldbear
Resistance1000
Maybe the scheduled time is kept secret, but there's no way to keep the actual movement and related convoy secret.
michiyl
Nuclear bomb transport, eh?

leechdemon
You can tell he's a bad guy because of the cigarette.

That movie was silly, but fun
DaSauceSeeker
Based on that orange* HAZMAT Explosive placard, it's not a Nuke... but something in the class of 1.1 - 1.4 (can't see the numbers clearly on my phone ro tell for sure). That said USAF doesn't placard nukes....
rennfieldcat
If it’s still in DOE/NNSA custody, it hasn’t been transferred to USAF yet. DOE/NNSA has their set of HazClass prior to transfer.
OddlyPacific
If it was a nuke, Evergreen would be flying it and 99% of the people involved would be none the wiser.
DaSauceSeeker
That said, based on the security detail, it's could be something classified/experimental, the fact the transport route goes through a town tells me likely 1.3 or 1.4
USAF follows a strict policy when transporting explosives: "Expose the minimum amount of people to the minimum amount of explosives" this includes explosive routes
Oatmealman1
Unless they are school children of course. Then it's a direct delivery
DaSauceSeeker
Though, they do have a record of losing nukes.... https://www.atomicarchive.com/almanac/broken-arrows/index.html

I don't trust any systems at this point. Call me when the National Park Service releases their breakdown of troop movements across Montana.
ItsaBeemer
That's a lot of health care driving down the road.
FeralFarter
Think of the cost of resources just transporting it alone.
PicassoCT
Ukraine wishes it had this health care. Prevents pandemics of russian mir
theinternetkeepsmealive
Yeah but it's more fun to kill people in other countries
JasonWaterfaIIs
Sorry you got down voted, your comment made me laugh
theinternetkeepsmealive
Great!
bottledham
That's a false dichotomy. We can have health care without cutting military spending. That's fine if you want to cut spending, but we can't cut our way to free healthcare.
ghettosoak
Great! Let’s do neither
cusbuster
I imagine the military budget could be trimmed a WHOLE lot.
bottledham
I'm sure it could be. But that should be independent of getting universal healthcare. The military is not why we don't have healthcare in America.
DragonThunderUndertaking
I hadn't considered nuclear annihilation as a form of healthcare, but this may in fact be the genius solution. Don't need healthcare if everyone is reduced to ashes.
ThisNameUnavailable
This is like the classic AI anti-solution to minimizing human suffering; by killing every single human, technically human suffering has been minimized until the end of time, thus achieving its objective optimally.

I don't know if you are being serious, but their comment was about how much healthcare for citizens could have been paid for with how much all of this unnecessary military spending cost.
LupusLilium
Total body irradiation.
Sigge1981
My first gut feeling is along the lines "that seems a bit excessive", before the reasoning part of my brain catches up "yeah, it's a nuclear weapon. It literally cannot be guarded enough "
billyrayvirus
I would have 10 other decoy trucks and then just put it in the mail.
snowwhyyt
In today’s state of affairs we have to look over our shoulders for home grown and converted terrorist. I always can see several unprotected areas when I look at stuff like this.
magus200342
Then you remember all the ones we've lost and wonder how that's even possible
ButtblasterMcAssmaster
Interestingly it is the Department of Energy that is responsible for nuclear weapon security. If you ever see a DoE stamped M4 carbine....that's why.
87cubed
Fun fact: those are not "merely" spotter helicopters, they will take turns converting you into a stain on the ground.
OakraidrMG
Everyone driving in the opposite direction are free to do whatever they want to.
schlummi
Excessive? Absolutly not. Rather the opposite. Germany had to use 20,000 cops to secure some nuclear waste transports. As comparision - here is a video of a nuclear waste transport - most cops secure the routes beforehand are not near the actual transport. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3-BYy9AqnLs
Oban
The weapon itself is more than a bit excessive
kahlas
There is a video from I think the UK showing protesters laying down in front of a convoy carrying nukes stopping it in the road. Don't try that in the US. They will just run you over. I'm not even sure if they will call you an ambulance once they get clear.
michaeloberg
Reason 1000 why no county should have nukes. It's theft of the commons, on a world scale
Isthe4thtimethecharm
Honestly nukes are mostly foe a defense. I think the whole world realized that if nukes get thrown around it means death to us all. But it makes one hell of a don't fuck with me statement. When was the last time a country with nukes was invaded? If Iran was working towards a nuke I feel that was their entire endgame with one.
paintbullits
Yup. Ukraine gave up it's nukes on the promise of backup if they were threatened. That worked out about as well as could be expected tbh.
backrideup9
Seems like maybe they should bring less attention to the fact there's a nuke. Its not like anybody is staking out Montana for WMDs anyway.
JoeyJoJoJrShabadoo7
Yeah they are acting like its a GTA mission where a heist is planned. What could the avg layman even do with warhead without the proper gear I wonder.
Delathi
Blow it up? Just some yahoo with an RPG hitting the thing. Even if it doesn’t detonate, there’s now radioactive material strewn across the highway.
Isthe4thtimethecharm
My thought was maybe they are moving it in another truck. This is the decoy.
TheSpindrifter
The active warheads for a MIRV are small enough to fit in a VW trunk disassembled. They are implosion weapons so minimal shielding and minimal mass, just enough weight to flex the rear suspension a hair.
wadatahmydamie
Everybody and their mum had a WMD in Montana
Zamerine
Everybody's mom is a WMD in Montana
HillOfBeans
Can confirm, my sister is one.
SayWhatYouMeanMeanWhatYouSay
The most impressive part of this is the humvees and transport truck all driving in perfect unison with only a few feet between them.
If anyone tried to hit that convoy those trucks wouldn’t even slow down their job is to keep going no matter what.
I got to watch the drivers train for ambush situations, both impressive and fucking terrifying what they capable of (and how fast the gunners can pop into those turrets if they need to).
onecowboytoo
There isn't a single Humvee in this video. They are Lenco BearCats (Ballistic Engineered Armored Response Counter Attack Truck).
SayWhatYouMeanMeanWhatYouSay
Thanks for the proper terminology!
LupusLilium
Yeah I saw the first couple vehicles and I was like 'this convoy seems a little loose' then there were the pair of trucks that you could nearly just walk across given how close they were. I was like 'oh there it is'.
schlummi
Is it really a good idea? Anti nuclear protestors have undermined roads in germany already. And those are rather poorly equipped civilians. I expect that a foreign power could bring a bit more to the table than some shovels.
Atrixz
I spent most of my military career doing training for convoy ops like that. And yes, do not stop is a core rule. When I was in S. Korea, we were going down a pretty busy 4 lane rd, and we were guns up, meaning live ammo. Had signs all over our trucks and the transport to not try and get between us. Bus swerved from left to right to make a stop, leaving its ass in our lane. Sgt told me not to stop, went right through it, basically taking off its backend up to the axle. Noone was hurt.
SayWhatYouMeanMeanWhatYouSay
Can’t take risks transporting stuff like that, if someone is dumb enough to block the road with a military convoy that’s on them.
jesuisgur
You're not at war. Dumb military having all the rights and all.
