Also that is specifically a female. This species is particularly unique as it not only mimics an orchid, but the male reaches adulthood 2 instars (number of mounts) faster than the female. This results in a tiny male (2.5cm male Vs 9cm female). This has 2 benefits in turn
I'd bet the main benefit is that as males do not investing that much to offspring (eggs) a faster maturing male line will have more offspring than slower maturing line.
2. Prevents inbreeding, as under the same circumstances food/water/temp availability, the male will become an adult before the female is adult and egg ready.
