This is what American Christianity has become.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Oh, a "Christian nationalist" ... or more to the point: Nat-C

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I'm not even a Christian and even I find this blasphemous.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

At this point, I'm becoming increasingly sure that Trumps plan for reducing immigration is to make America so publically a banana republic shithole that not only do people stop trying to go, but enough people start fleeing it that it causes Canada and Mexico to have a immigration border crisis instead.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Yeah, Canada is already worried about the possibility. Canada has a severe housing shortage. Migrants cannot survive well in Canada without genuine shelter.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

the worst people in the world claiming to be christian what a POS ghoul

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

FUCK RELIGION!

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

THIS is what "Taking the Lord's name in vain" means. It is a misrepresentation of the character of God as revealed in the person of Jesus. Self sacrificial love, mercy & humility.

2 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 0

Old testament is full of God telling people to full on genocide their neighboring country. Both religion and conservatism don't belong in modern society

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

THOU SHALT NOT KILL
Did your god fucking stutter?

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Just keep in mind that all of these people are just warming up the crowd for Climate Change.

As the planet warms, there will be refugees fleeing lethal wet bulb temps. Billions will need to move to survive. All 50 million Central Americans are going to need to move north, like Great Lakes/Canada North. So we have a choice. 1) We build the infrastructure to relocate and integrate these people or 2) Murder 50M at the US border. The conservatives have chosen their solution.

We really need to just start reporting when they do something Christlike.

Bigots justifying their hatred and violence with religion. Tale as old as time.

2 years ago | Likes 130 Dislikes 0

It's funny how bigots can twist religion to line up with their fucked up ideas 100% of the time.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Almost like it was made for them

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Not as old as time, merely as old as religion.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Clearly, we need to be more merciful towards bigots, if you know what I mean.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xenia_(Greek) Now this was the sin of Sodom: She and her daughters were arrogant, overfed and unconcerned; they did not help the poor and needy. They were haughty and did detestable things before me. Therefore I did away with them as you have seen.

There is no hate like Christian love

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

It's really funny that he's literally creating the justification for his own killing. Punish a few while the rest stand in fear? Sounds like the way to put fascists back in the fucking corner.

2 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

There should be no corner or cave for them to crawl back into.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Simply to point out the hypocrisy (and there are a TON of verses, both Old and New Testament, referring to kind treatment of strangers and sojourners): Galatians 5:14 - For the whole law is fulfilled in one word: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”

Blasphemers like this guy are the very ones their own messiah warned their followers against following.

2 years ago | Likes 221 Dislikes 3

Let's conviently ignore the multiple unprovoked genocides god ordered. And the slavery. And rape. And forced abortion. Sex slaves from conquered countries. Stoning of your own children. Incest. Lauding bashing the heads of infants of the enemy against rocks. Hardening the heart of the pharaoh so he could keep doing murder plagues. Dicking with Job for laughs.

Both narratives are in there. Neither of you are blasphemers, you each just chose a different narrative to follow.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

I've done this, and the response I got was that the Bible tells Christians to rebuke the devil, and immigrants bring the devil with them when they come to the country. You can't use logic on people who cling to any excuse to hate.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yeah… not that bible. The DJT version. Hate thy neighbor, starve the poor, don’t heal the sick, give to the wealthy for that is the way to salvation, etc

Guess this pastor glossed over the top 10 list too.

2 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

I grew up pretty religious. And all I see now is hate on all sides... the crusaders in the past. and the hate between Islam and everything else.
All I can settle on is religion was used to make people think the same way. So they can all agree to hate on another group of people who think different.
Even Christians could never figure this out. How meny different types of Christians are there? All with different views. and they used to go to war over that shit.

2 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

I think you're digging too deep. How about "Thou Shalt Not Kill"?

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

you need to understand there is two kind of peoples very important in religion, thoses that seek love and acceptance (cults love thoses for obvious reason) and thoses that need strict social structure with all powerful "god" on top and thoses they dont like and are different to them under them , peoples craving a all powerful sky daddy also being into authoritarism? more likely that you can think

It's almost like they've never read the book they scream about and only use it as a cudgel to make other do what they want.

2 years ago | Likes 45 Dislikes 1

No, it's like they've cherrypicked from it the bits they like, just the same as every Christian _necessarily_ does. The difference is that these people happen to like the most heinous bits the best.

2 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 2

During the pandemic I would quite Leviticus 13:45 and 13:46 to the anti mask Christians, those passages essentially say to mask up and social distance, they would tell me they're from a book that doesn't count, then when I point out that's where there favorite anti gay line is from they would scoff and walk off.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

"Love thy neighbor? Nah let's go with hate everyone different than us and foce women to have babies?"
"And... What verses are those?"
"Shhh shh shhhhhh. Trust me, bro."

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

No but, you see, God's love is _higher_ than human love, _higher_ than our limited understanding, so when He commands you to literally genocide your literal neighbours it's not a command borne out of hate but out of His infinite _love_ for justice and mercy. (Obvs /s but that's for real what you'll hear apologists argue in order to defend all the biblical genocides.)

Of course, it's rude to show your hypocrisy in public...

Weeell...it seems to be a selling point lately

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I say we kill him so his flock can "stand in fear". "Churches" past 100 people or so should be taxed to the maximum with no loopholes. In other words, one you pass a certain threshold, all the money not spent on maintenance of the physical building you worship in goes to education, roads, public services. Y'know, the places Christ would want the money to go. Let's force them to stop pretending to be good people and MAKE them.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Yes….and at least pay taxes!

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This is NOT what Jesus would do . Hypocrites and liars all of them. I hope they rot in the deepest recesses of hell.

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Right? I didn’t know Jesus personally, but I’m pretty sure ‘shooting migrants’ was not on his to-do list.

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Pretty sure he was an "illegal" migrant himself too

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Once upon a time I was under the impression that WBC was the exception not the rule. These days I'm wondering if the exception are "Christian" churches in America that actually follow Christ's teachings. Though if I add "without exception" then of course there's no need to wonder.

I suspect, though without proof, that your "real" proper "love they neighbor" type christians could be found in very small run down old churches in the middle of nowhere, and your big shiny mega churches are populated by the types the article speaks of, but this is just a guess based on my *very* limited interactions with both types

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I think the "love thy neighbor" types are probably more common than you think. They tend to be a little quieter about it (seems the founder of Christianity had some things to say about going around boasting about your good works). They also tend to be naive which might explain why so the christo-fascists are gaining so much ground. Not that I excuse that in the slightest - Jesus never said to be naive

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Even then, you still face judgement and shunning if you don't fit into their perfect world. Smaller churches tend to be more gossip oriented since everyone knows everyone and worries about everyone's business. There are exceptions, but that's my experience.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Yeah, organized religion is messed up.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

And the thing is, Jesus historically warned us about organized religion (even if you don't believe the rest).

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Agreed, of course what modern religion is now, is a real far cry from how it was written to be.
