Just be careful of provincial dialects. For example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ScgAgeIfTlg is more or less incomprehensible to non-flatlanders.

Can they really take California? Like we vote to not be part of this he'll hole and then.. oh no.. Canada took us over! Aw shucks! I'd be down for that.

If a couple mounties show up I imagine my city would surrender without discussion.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

We'll take WA, OR, CA, NM, CO, MN, IL, NY, NJ, VT, MA, VA...the rest you can keep.

...and CT, RI & NH

I'd rather simply stop funding red welfare States, and make the federal government beg blue states, on their hands and knees, not to leave.

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I offered you New York State but you never got back to me!

Really convincing

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'd love Canada to absorb my state, and really, the entire west coast. I know some east coast states would like in on the deal too.

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Nah, at that point we should make Cascadia a thing and have the west coast do our own thing.

Include california, probably split Cali into multiple states. We can probably also swing Nevada, get us Vegas, but broadly draw the line at the mountains.

Do that and we've got a national that's culturally similar, easily defended, and basically completely self sufficient.

fukkin cold up there tho ya? Where can I ex-pat to that's by a nice beach?

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Just get used to wearing more layers. Soft wool socks, down filled pants, northface adjacent jacket.... Your cold hormones should acclimate within a year, and the summers are actually fuckin awesome. It's the right amount of hot. Not too much.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Port Hood, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. Warmest waters north of the Carolinas, summer average is 23°C/73.4°F.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

excuse me, but is it a place where people live, or just a place you travel to? I mean , is there a small city nearby or is it all a wildlife refuge/beach

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

After seeing this and dozens of other related posts on this site of late, I'm confused. Has the word "emigrate" ceased to exist?

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

As a Canadian I am actually researching New Zealand immigration so that we can get out before we get stuck raising children through a war.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

And if you emigrate to the west coast it's not even that cold!

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

If only it were so easy. 🏳️‍⚧️💜😔

Grew up in West Michigan in the 60s and frankly hoped that Canada would annex Detroit as it got worse and worse.
Now I’d move back there in a minute if I thought they’d annex the whole state.

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Ya could go to Windsor. It's so vastly better and yet exactly the same.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Friendly reminder that Windsor, Ontario is south of Detroit, Michigan.

Alaska can stay out too.....just saying, eh.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Watched a Canadian snowbird on news tonight, telling how Floridians are under the impression Canadians have no other warm place to go in winter (because US is only place in the world with warm beaches, apparently). Spare us puhleaz.

Canada has some of its own issues but not like....this

2 years ago | Likes 167 Dislikes 1

Canadian here. I'll take our bullshit over their bullshit any day of the week.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Our bullshit is their bullshit delayed by decade. At least we have functioning infrastructure but grifting conservatives are trying their damnedest to privatize the post office and health sector

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'll even take our current bullshit over their Bush-era bullshit any day of the week.

No country is perfect, eh...

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

We will see in a few months if we decide to follow on the Trump train, or hold it at bay

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Same with Mexico.... SO many of the people are so nice, and the weather can often be amazing.... really sucks that the country in the middle with more comfortable temperatures is the fucked up one.

2 years ago | Likes 36 Dislikes 2

It's only because, there doesn't seem to be any ACTUAL consequences whenever someone in power is FOUND guilty of any crimes, otherwise, it really WOULD be a utopia.

2 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

You’re talking about America, right?

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Yes, yes I am.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

it's a shithole, even when there were consequences to people in power. The whole terminal capitalism thing was made in total legality, because turns out lobbying is legal. The only people who think the us are great are people who never left the us and swallowed the constant propaganda of how great you are.

We have our own TemuTrump, a snivelling populist shit, who looks likely to win the upcoming election. 🫤

2 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Tell me you live in Australia without telling me you live in Australia. “TemuTrump”

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

He's talking about Pierre Poilievre, or tiny PP as I like to call him. But there's TemuTrumps popping up everywhere.

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

"We" 🍁

Temu is a website of shitty products, like Wish but worse

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Apologies, looks like Australia has its own, different, TemuTrump that’s been getting around the internet.

Best of luck. Hope Ford gets stomped on.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I meant the Federal election that'll happen after the Provincial. (Though I am key staff in our electoral district, running the election).

Ford, for the first time I can give him credit for something, is at least pissed off at Trump. Alberta's premiere went to Maralago to kiss the ring.

Does your girlfriend have a gay/bi/open-minded brother? I'm scared. D:

Plan on getting my finances in order and going back to school. Once I have my degree, I've got a short list, and Canada is on it.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Canada would be wise to take us. The ones fleeing the US would be more liberal and could try and tip things away from the right in Canada.

2 years ago | Likes 32 Dislikes 1

Looked at it for years. I do not have the money for it nor the skill. When I graduated college it was the place to go for work but the industry was flooded. Now I have my mom to care for.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Do it do it do it!

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

If I thought they would let me in I'd be there already. They have their own issues, but they haven't gone full fascist. Sadly, I have nothing to offer them and I don't think they even want to let Americans in right now.

2 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

I am supposed to graduate as a Speech-Language Pathologist in May... and Arizona republicans are trying to slash funding for individuals with special needs in April.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Ugh. I'm so sorry we live in this timeline. That said, I'm pretty sure that *is* something other countries may want you for. I'd definitely look into it!

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I am still trying to move mom out of her house across the state since June of 2023. Moving to another country?! That's going to be hard! :D

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Last I heard, immigration had been all but stopped due to lacking the infrastructure to support so many people seeking that delicious maple salvation. Have things changed?

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

We're not perfect, and Alberta is.... Alberta, but it's definitely worth considering. You don't even need to learn French if you don't care about being a senior manager in government.

2 years ago | Likes 34 Dislikes 1

I’d go right this second if they would accept me but I’m not skilled

2 years ago | Likes 83 Dislikes 0

Same here! I'm just a salesman -- I imagine that they already have plenty of those.

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Don't count yourself out. Make them tell you that.

2 years ago | Likes 45 Dislikes 0

I can make pretty art stuff but I've failed to sell it well.

Now I'm just a retail worker. Countries don't really want those coming in.

2 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Do you know that because you've tried emigrating and been turned down or do you know that because the non-stop barrage of corporate propaganda you get exposed to every day in the US tells you that you can't leave because no one will take you? You know, like an abusive partner would say.

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Ow. ; u;'

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Guys, guys... you're missing the point. We have TERRIBLE border security.

2 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 1

Are you suggesting they come ILLEGALLY??

2 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Nah, it's almost impossible to survive in Canada illegally/undocumented...no access to health care, schools, banking, driving license, home ownership etc.... yes, documents can be forged, but illegal immigration is not a big problem here

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Bro we live in America were used to going with out basic shit.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The majority of illegal immigration is tied to human trafficking and they end up in prostitution or modern day slaves. Refugees that come here get support until their cases are reviewed. About 1/3 of refugees are rejected and deported.

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I keep telling you to annex Minnesota, we are already honorary citizens

2 years ago | Likes 75 Dislikes 1

They are pretty nice, eh?

2 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Plus we already know how to handle winter roads you have everything to gain and nothing to lose!

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Minnesota begs you to take us

2 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

You guys can be "southeast Canada" and Washington/Oregon/California can be Canadia or "southwest Canada".

2 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

I like this plan. Taking those 4 states of of the US and the US is no longer a G8 country. Hell take California alone* and watch the US economy crater. *but plz take Washington too ;)

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Agreed as long as it's just a regional name. We keep Minnesota. Never lose native names.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Of course! It could be the province name of you and any neighbor states, as Cascadia is WA/OR/CA. 😁 Washington can be renamed though, we got enough shit named after dead white guys, and it would end the confusion of everyone thinking anyone from Washington is from DC 🙃
