So is not eating meat as it costs several orders of magnitude more resources and suffering. Hopefully you eat more tofu and veggies otherwise youre not really making a dent in anything.
"We need a slur for AI haters" look. I know these morons are creatively devoid enough to not be able to think of one themselves but would grok not even make one? Grok loves slurs!
And they know they have no argument. They are well aware they are talentless hacks and do not want to engage artists about art. They know they will lose because they know nothing about it. Had an argument with one. He didn't even know what layers or post edit was.
I called one out on Bluesky, and she IMMEDIATELY freaked the fuck out thinking I was going to track her down and murder her. She claimed "she was autistic and just trying to spread some joy" for her daughter. She also got me a week-long ban for "harassment"... One of the most stupid cunts on the planet!
Ah the disability argument. "I must use Ai because I am disabled". In most cases a lie and a pathetic excuse for being lazy with no talent to their name https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qyuGX_Xpc2I&t=1s
That one autistic guy who took a single lap around New York, I think, in a helicopter and then drew out the entire cityscape accurately-- in pen! Yea, that bitch had ZERO excuse!
(Also, painting that well with your feet is insane!)
People don’t get that not only artists lose jobs because of AI.
If you have to make a movie scene with actors, special location, lights, music, digital effects, complex dialogue,l and make it all together, do you think only artists worked on it?
Well, now a wannabe, knoweverything, money saver can decide to create the slop and all the workers above are useles.
The last part is what is not working anymore. Generative AI has been sold to everyone now, not just to who knows what is doing.
The companies will extract the max of costs cut by the shitty usage of slop, not well used coding AI enhanced.
While the “market will fix it” a lot of people will lose job.
And once it will be “fixed” it will indeed not be fixed at all, will be another black dot in the market, as underpaid low wage workers, exploited creatives, etc.
Dude on bsky who calls himself bookanon just blocked me today for saying AI doesn't democratize writing in response to him trying to suggest ppl who say "AI slop" are the same as those who criticized self publishing 20yrs ago. Great way to ruin your credibility as a book lover imo to publicly defend AI slopbooks
There are reasons to use curated AI Outputt. The Problem is: Curation needs Time and effort. For myself i have a slight legasthenia and as a DM for roll20 i use MY Graphicscard to generate NPC/Background Pics i need and i can't find. So yes i use LLM to correct my Texts when working professional and for recreation purpose SD. But i curate everything, i create around 20-30 pics for one NPC/Background and i write my Texts on my one then let the 400 words run through a LLM to get it better worded
The Problem with AI Outputt are the lazy ones and those who don't curate it. I am not very astistic but i know what i want and can curate it. And i don't show it on the Internet as "my work" but use it for a Game Session as a tool to improve it. There is a big difference. Something like Coke with their Ai Slop Commercial that was lazy cost and effort cutting. Thats always bad with or without AI support. One example of early good Ai implementation: Tesselation for Hair in Witcher3 and the likes.
My problem is specifically with people calling what AI does "art" and Portraying themselves as artists. (Art here includes writing, acting, music, etc). I don't care that much about generative AI being used for other reasons. I SPECIFICALLY loathe it being used to replace humans in the places that make life worth living (art).
Yea. I know it's a hot take on here, but I do think there is a place for genAI, specifically (as you mentioned) for anything you're doing casually. Like with D&D, you shouldn't be expected to spend money to pay someone to draw some pictures. The biggest issue is when companies use it as a method of skimping out on paying people they absolutely could pay, but choose not to.
Fucking hell, that is spot on....yet, I know it'll still be lost on these fuckers as they soldier on building the torment nexus - looking at you *Palantir* as if it couldn't be any MORE on the nose than that lol
That analogy is even better because the ring couldn't actually give you any power. Everyone wanted it because they thought it was "easy power" but even if they had the ring they had no actual power. Look at Gollum, dude had the ring for years and didn't gain any superpowers or skills, it just ruined the skills and abilities he already had. Just like ai.
Don't be lazy and do research. Ai is just as smart as it's source which is the internet which says a lot. You can't trust the algorithm to not start hallucination. Here is the sad thing. Way to many people think "Oh it must be true because the Ai god said so". Good grief.
What's wild is apparently Google is only right a little over some odd 90% of the time. I wish I had the exact number. That sounds not too bad, but that still means it is WRONG millions of times per hour. How do you know you weren't the wrong one?
"I'm not a heroin addict, I just shoot a lil black tar when I need to take the edge off, which is totally normal and healthy."
My dude, there's no middle ground. Either you're reliant or you aren't. Ask yourself "what would I do if all AI systems somehow stopped working tomorrow?" If the answer is anything other than "nothing, because they're not a part of my life", you're just lying to yourself about your reliance.
You like it because it gives you answers confidently and you don't understand that it could be completely wrong and now you are /less/ informed than before you asked it. You like it for the same reason people like Fox News, because it tells them things that sound believable and real, and sometimes are, but the moments when it manipulates you are 100% not worth the risk. Find your own information. And if you can't, move on, because it obviously wasn't that important to you at all.
That's the devil's bargain, and it correlates with the weight of the task. It may seem like nothing with such little tasks, but behind your back its burning a little more energy, wasting a little more water, lining some billionaire's pocket a little more.
Factory farming is orders of magnitude worse. Stop eating beef if you care that much, because that is a behavioral problem. We cant make raising cattle more efficient. But data centers can be as an engineering problem. It's actually hilarious people suddenly care about water usage? Then switch to eating more veggies first, that has a significantly larger positive impact and costs you nothing.

thank god the ones using AI to make anything and do everything aren't creative enough to think of one themselves. it's kinda a self solving situation.

It’s called reading the information available and then thinking. If this isn’t quick enough for you, it must not have been important.

Yes, stop eating beef. Switch to lamb, they graze around solar fields without causing problems and use less water than cows.

Actually hilarious imgurians downvote me for saying beef is orders of magnitudes worse than data centers. I guess it was never about saving resources.
