lol, I've had Netflix for so long, I remember when they only had part 2 of franchises. I can't remember any examples, but imagine Legally Blonde 2, but not Legally Blonde. Or only Nutty Professor 2. It was all the stuff that Blockbuster didn't consider "New Releases."

That was the early music royalties stuff. Even later, when they had the whole thing, no 1st episode, and no JFK episode. Same issue with music royalties. Not sure if they ever fixed it. I know that Northern Exposure is now on Prime, but I have no idea if the music is the same now.

The best part? You can subscribe to them one at a time and then cancel when you are done, and still see all the latest seasons of your favorite shows without spending more than $20 a month. Dropout is a service by what used to be Collegehumor. It's a service full of shows with great improv comedians. There's Dimension20 for D&D and D&D adjacent games, there's Game Changer for a gameshow where the game changes each episode, Make some noise for some good old fashioned improv, the list goes on. There's very rarely a bad show on there and they're constantly releasing new stuff. I would recommend Game Changer for anyone. They also release some of their stuff on YT for free...

All of these services deserve criticism, but most of the criticism leveled in this cartoon is either not entirely accurate or outright bullshit. Like Prime, for instance - the ability to rent and purchase stuff is a benefit, it's not stuff they produced or otherwise have a license to distribute at a cost they can make available for free. It's not like Disney+ making Disney content available to rent or purchase.

No I genuinely believe people should make things and put it out there into the world. It’s easy to be an armchair critic. You don’t have to like my comics but I went out and made something that I shared with the world. Anyone can leave comment pointing out the flaws of my comic but it’s a lot more difficult to put yourself out there for the rest of the world to criticize. I take criticism seriously and will take it to consideration when I make the next one

Here's some genuine advice. Looking at some of your other comments, you're going to need to grow much thicker skin if you're going to continue sharing your work with random strangers. You can't take criticism so personally, especially not something this mild. You'll be eaten alive when someone truly toxic throws their bile at you, rather than just someone being crude with their criticism. Telling people to try and create before criticizing is an awful look for a creator.

It’s a very odd show. It feels like a different show episode to episode. Sometimes it’s campy and tongue in cheek, other times it’s straight up horrifying. I paused about halfway through season three as I was thoroughly confused at the lack of continuity. But the storyline pops up here and there and does progress. But they go on a lot of frigging side quests too!

In season 1 the church has that parchment with all the demon symbols on it. They won't let the people who are supposed to be investigating it have a copy (wtf?) but then David just "tricks the priests into turning their backs" while Kristen takes pics of it. Everything about that was idiotic.

Foundation is great if you don't go into it expecting a word-perfect faithful adaptation of the books. But it's a beautiful and gorgeously crafted Sci-Fi show that has honestly been a really interesting joy to watch. Lee Pace absolutely chews the scenery, Lee Lloubell and Leah Harvey make great protagonists, and Jared Harris is just wonderful like he usually is. I reccomend at least watching the first season— I thought it was great.

Even if you're willing to take it on its own merits (because it is pretty much 100% in opposition to the source material) it is still bottom-tier writing. The movies I watch on Tubi are also garbage, but that’s because they had no budget, or stars or anything. They are immensely entertaining because at least they tried (find Patton Oswald talking about “Death Bed” for a funnier explanation). If Netflix spends $200 million on something with The Rock or Ryan Reynolds and it’s still garbage, I’m not paying for it

It's a very GOOD reason, honestly. Huge fan of the franchise. Have spent the last few years with my brother binging our way through - TOS, TAS, 1-6, TNG, 7-10, DS9, VOY (currently on season 6). Prime has some hidden gems. Patriot is my favorite show of all time, dark dry humor, good story line, I think the actors nailed it. Please check it out. Frank of Ireland is amazing. Bosch is a solid background show, like an improved form of basic cable cop shows. Goliath with Billy bob Thornton is solid. Amazon is evil, but prime video is solid

Streaming services, short sightedly, see no incentive in long running shows. They figure, if you aren't watching by season 2 or 3, you never will be. That's why Netflix is full of 2 and 3 season shows, many never to be finished. 5 isn't a bad run, which is what lower decks and discovery will both end with.

Five seasons is a good run. Sure, TNG, DS9, and VOY all got seven each, but, let's be honest - TNG's final season was about 75% phoning it in. Would I like more? Yes - if there is more to make. If they dry up on ideas, it'll only sour the flavor.
Besides - there are still other Trek series active. SNW's definitely holding my attention. Prodigy didn't, sure, but it still is "Star Trek" in nature, and it has its fans. And there's always whatever they plan next.

Apple TV's given us Silo, Severance, Foundation, Monarch: LoM, FOR ALL MANKIND ffs; its a staggering level of quality & commitment that no other service comes even remotely close to. Plus there's also Extrapolations, Invasion, Dark Matter and See. Really undercut the validity of what he was saying vis a vis how good each service's offerings are. Wasn't even a good joke lol

Central Park is wonderful. Bob’s Burgers animation-style musical (3+ original songs per episode!). All-star voice cast including Kathryn Hahn, Kristen Bell, Stanley Tucci, Tituss Burgess, Josh Gad and several Hamilton aumni. They all sing a lot and the soundtrack is as good as anything Disney has ever made. It’s a tragedy Apple didn’t promote it much and it’s basically a secret.

Dark Matter is pretty good too. Hard science is such a rare find between all the "spaceship go pew pew" type of sci-fi shows. My only problem is that the scientific inaccuracies and logic holes bother me even more when a show is a little more cerebral

E.g., the show is based on the universe-splitting narrative of the MWI (many-worlds interpretation) where any decision made by any creature creates a new "branch" of reality. Which is ofc not what the MWI proposes, but it's what sci-fi likes to run with b/c you get to visit alternate realities. The problem is that while the abducted version of Jason splits into millions of copies with every decision he makes, the universe he originally came from should have split up into gazillions of branches…

So for every copy of the abducted Jason, there should now be an insane amount of branches of the world he was abducted from, which makes it extremely improbable that even just two of them would travel to the same branch. Yet somehow that world remained a single branch of reality for plot purposes. Still a great show though. I loved details like the Earth where the sun went red giant

Dark Matter was a great show. The ensemble cast and the premise of “amnesiacs wake up on a spaceship, who are they?” was really appealing. I’m disappointed it got cancelled, though I don’t think it tried too hard to be hard sci-fi.
