Took her to the doctor yesterday because she had a fever thinking it was just strep throat since some kids in her daycare class had that.

Turns out, it’s covid. Me and her have to quarantine for 14 days.

Really frustrating too bc we’ve been so cautious and careful and yet here we are.

My wife has had the first round of the vaccine, but I haven’t gotten it yet, so I’m sure I’ll wind up getting it, too.

Not so much worried about me, just my daughter. Praying we don’t start seeing symptoms showing that it’s getting worse.

No matter what statistics show, it’s hard not to have the worst case scenario run through your head every now and then.

FP edit: y’all are awesome. Thanks for helping me keep my spirits up. Really cool of you guys.

I understand completely. We just want our kids to be safe.

Not great news for sure. But I bet you'll all be fine. Chin up. Quarantine. You'll be good.

keep hydrated and eat nutritous foods, get plenty of rest and try not to worry

But yeah, let's open those schools up! What could go wrong??

Hugs to you and your family. Imgur is pulling for you!

Oy friend she'll be fine, but God willing that you all are A-fuckin-Okay

@op I got it recently. My way is a bit weird, but I tricked myself into thinking my symptoms were very mild and stayed optimistic. It helps

'We've been so cautious' - puts child in room with 25 other petri dishes.

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Doesn’t matter how careful you are out there if just one person isn’t. One person can destroy a community. just one, fucking pricks

5 years ago | Likes 32 Dislikes 5

Hey, babies are people too! We gotta wait til they're like 8 to start breaking them down!

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Oh shit, that sucks I hope she pulls through and you can keep it together your kid needs you more than ever right now... good luck

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Kids have severe disease extremely rarely; more than likely, she will have mild cold symptoms. Try not to worry about her too much.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The kids in the daycare class probably didn't have strep throat.

Good luck

Don’t worry, I haven’t seen a single covid-child being really sick. They all get better quite fast :)

5 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 1

Similar @CrappingYouNegative . It IS terrifying. BUT, in the end my symptoms were the worst. Hardly fazed the kids. Hoping the same for you.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Just prayed for you and your family.

you’re awesome. thank you

I've lost 3 family members and 2 friends. All under 50.

5 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 3

That is very unlucky. I believe only one person under the age of 50 has died of Covid in my whole country.

What a shitty thing to share with someone who is afraid for their child's life! I'm sorry for your loss though. It's awful. :(

After a year of this isn't it time to wake up? Over 500,000 dead just in the USA. When will you get thr memo?

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

What memo? Are you blaming OP for his 18mo old contracting this?

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The memo of a freaking pandemic going on? I dunno maybe that one. Did u just wake up too?

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

We all know this, dipshit. Maybe he's allowed to be scared without someone jumping in to say how letal it is. He KNOWS!

I’m just coming out of my own tussle with COVID. Hang in there, it comes in waves. Find a position that helps with coughing. Sending luck!

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My whole family got Covid after i brought it home from work including my 1 year old. She thankfully was over it in a day. Stay hydrated!

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Sending positive thoughts and best wishes to you and the family from Reading UK

Kids can take a real beating illness wise & be just fine. All the best to you guys.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Dr's have gotten pretty good at treating it over the las year there's also promising plasma and drug trials that could be available. GL!!!

5 years ago | Likes 229 Dislikes 3

No we haven’t. There’s dex and toci but beyond that there’s sod all that makes a difference

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 12

really nice to see that. thanks for the uplifting message

5 years ago | Likes 41 Dislikes 0

Also young kids with undeveloped immune system uvery rarely have major symptoms. It seems that the problems are mostly caused by excessive

5 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Immune response. So I'd be worried about unvaccinated adults around.

But then again, I am not a virology expert, just read studies (not the FB version but the original published articles)

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I think the virus is not as bad for little ones but it’s still scary. Here is our ministry of health link from my country NZ about COVID-19

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

I hope your little one recovers quickly, lots of fluid, lots of rest and lots of love!

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

this is great information! thanks so much

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Kids are resilient @OP ... She'll be ok and you're gonna be ok too, take a deep breath and rest up

5 years ago | Likes 387 Dislikes 2

really appreciate that. Thank you

5 years ago | Likes 73 Dislikes 0

But please do your research and watch out for MIS-C in the coming weeks and months. Don't be scared, but be informed

5 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

I second this. I am a PICU nurse and so many parents have been caught off guard by what could happen weeks or months after infection

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

MIS-C?

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It's an inflammatory disorder that is affecting some children after recovering from covid. It can seriously disrupt a child's life

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It can cause permanent disability or death long after covid has cleared the system.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This is the biggest issue with people not understanding covid...when doctors say Kids are resilient people are idiots that take it to 1/2

5 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 5

Mean "immune" and then when a teenager dies of covid morons will shout "He was supposed to be immune, covid must be fake!!" 2/3

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 6

My point being people are stupid, and this is why people get sick and die.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 6

Dude! You're not supposed to say the D word to someone whose kid is sick!

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Your beside manner sucks balls

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 4

Does it? Well if people took this shit seriously people wouldn't be dying. But my manners are the problem? Lol. No. Fuck off.
