This all started a few months ago- I thought he would change his mind by now. Now our 1 month old son has to get his first set of shots in December. I of course want to get them, he doesn’t want to give them to him. Thinks it’s all a conspiracy and there’s poison in it. Does someone have some good research that I could use? I’m bad at refuting his “claims.” DECEMBER 8 EDIT: Tomorrow is our appointment to get our son vaccinated. My husband is out of town. Husband just said on the phone how mad he would be at me if I got son vaccinated while he was out of town. The appointment is in the morning, I’m doing it.
ZeroCoolisCrashOverride
Take the day off and get him vaccinated and then divorce your idiot husband.
DiamondJB1911
@op. For future reference.
CrankyCook
worldsokayestspeler
The first thing you should have done is not married a fucking idiot
ILikedTheirOldStuffBetter
As a husband and father myself, to hell with your husband's bullshit. Get your kid vaccinated.
RoyalStingray
there's insurmountable evidence to suggest vaccines are absolutely safe. If he won't believe that i'd suggest getting them done sneakily
RoyalStingray
Bare in mind that I'm not married or even in a relationship, let alone a parent. But get those vaccines done however you can!
amop
You think his bad ideas will stop after this?
IsaacNuetron
Ask him to rate his knowledge of the subject on this graph

Divorce time
Chrishopkinsvball
Your husband is an idiot, tell him to talk to a doctor
Voojagig
Sit him down with a list of symptoms for these entirely preventable diseases and have him figure out which ones are better than autism.
MuttonsChopped
This is a good one to try.
dumbledoreismyfather
Dude lawyer up.
LeeHarveyOshawott
He's dangerous to your child and others. Sever.
Mendeleyev2
Anyone dumb enough to think antivax is okay for their kids is dumb enough to be divorced for being too dumb
iShadows
Don't let him inject you with his meat needle until your kid is vaccinated. Game over.

Pretty good post with linked sources to studies.
DOWNVOTEALLEMOJIS
Thank you. I’m using this tonight as the vaccination date is tomorrow
Theg00dshepard
I’m not an antivax, to find some middle ground look at the vax schedule and what they’re giving, hep c, anthrax ect....you could prob skip
TallyReign
People like this will not be swayed with scientific evidence. You have to manipulate their emotions/fear
FudgeWeasel
Ask yourself this: if your husband wanted to punch your kid because some troll on the web told him it was a good idea, would you let him?
FudgeWeasel
wanting to deny your kid health care based on a conspiracy theory is no different - it is abuse. Do the right thing for your kid.
DOWNVOTEALLEMOJIS
I’m getting his shots in the morning. I’m nervous.
FudgeWeasel
Good on you. Your son's life is more important than your husband's fantasies, despite what your husband thinks. Good luck.
DOWNVOTEALLEMOJIS
Thanks. I got the shots. Husband will be mad, not sure how I’m going to deal with that one.
FudgeWeasel
You could ask him why he's angry at you for trying to ensure that your child lives past age 10. It's hard to justify wanting your child dead
CaffeineManic
Don't try to talk him out of the ant-vax. But do show him that the anti-vax story is being pushed by Russian propaganda to weaken the US.

Is your husband vaccinated?
DOWNVOTEALLEMOJIS
Yes
JustWantsToHelp
I would read how to win friends and influence people. Learn to listen very well, be empathic but know there are no guarantees, best of luck
JustinSane6
Take the kid in for his shots while his obviously retarded father is at work. You don’t need proof they’re safe, he needs proof they’re not.
Ryan72
Ask him if he was vaccinated, then ask if he wants his son to live at least as long as he has so far...
Phoenix825858
The first mistake was having a kid with an idiot
Imgurblowsmidgets
Just give the kid autism. The dad wont know the differance.
Youts
Zero downvotes. I concur
ObnoxiousCommenterGuy
Antivaxxers and flat earthers are immune to research and evidence. They want to think they're among the select few who know the truth.
xmaneds
Seconded. if they had ever listened to facts they would never have the antivaxx opinion. you might never change his mind
DOWNVOTEALLEMOJIS
It’s so true. I’m ashamed to say he’s a flat earther too. Also the moon is fake. Lord help me
Iwilltrytobenicer3
Do the shots. Guard that secret better than the time when we spent the night together.
zoeelane201
Ok, that's a little hard to grasp. How long were y'all together before getting married? Does he have a high school degree/ged?
DOWNVOTEALLEMOJIS
College educated. Together 8 years before marriage. He sprang this on me during my pregnancy
IdGiveMyEyeTeeth4That
Wait, how did he hide being a retarded Dickbutt long enough to impregnate you? Vaccinate the kid without him. But seriously. Flat earth???
TraumatizedByFerreroRoche
Just give your kid the shots without his consent or knowing. B'cos it is the right, logical and socially responsible thing to do for ur kid.
wherewehavebeen
YaaaaaaaaImGonnaNeedASauce
Iwilltrytobenicer3
Just do it
QuitLookinAtMineAim
The moon is fake too? He'll never come around if he's that deep. You are in a tough spot. You have to consider stealth vac and risk divorce.
DOWNVOTEALLEMOJIS
I either want to gather research to refute his points or try to get his family to talk some sense into him, haven’t decided yet
QuitLookinAtMineAim
I don't want to deprive you of the experience of learning through failure, but if he's into ALL the bullshit, you don't have a chance.
QuitLookinAtMineAim
Those people don't value logic or deductive reasoning, they just want to be in their "club" of people who "get it". It's okay, you can
ijustwantpizzaanddessert
Tell him to prove his side. He wont find shit from credible doctors
QuitLookinAtMineAim
He wouldn't know what proper "proof" was anyway.
DOWNVOTEALLEMOJIS
He claims all doctors do is just agree with a predecessor’s points anyway
ThePotatoBandit
Thats a massive assumption. If true there would never be any innovation in the medical field?
JustinSane6
So he’d rather listen to the ramblings of a porn star than millions of doctors? Let me save you years of your life. Get a divorce now!
ijustwantpizzaanddessert
Then where are his facts coming from if not doctors?? Please dont say Jenny McCarthy
DOWNVOTEALLEMOJIS
YouTube
Acefowl
I've gotta believe there are plenty of YouTube videos that can counter all of his claims. Fight fire with fire, so to speak.
shootyourgooCthulhu
Jenny McFarthy?
Andricus
Does he go to your son's doctor appointments? Could just... get them done?
DOWNVOTEALLEMOJIS
This is what I’m leaning toward. But I would feel horrible deceiving him. But more horrible not vaccinating our son.
Andricus
Yeah, I don't know a good solution outside of that. As a dad I would consider the same if my wife was anti-vax (Thankfully not the case). <3
YaaaaaaaaImGonnaNeedASauce
I get you don't want to go behind your husband's back, but this is for your son's health and safety. Besides, he brought it upon himself.
Alurkerforcedtologin
I don't condone dishonesty in a relationship, but your kid needs vaccinated. Maybe reassess the viability of this relationship. Do you
Alurkerforcedtologin
Really need that kind of magical thinking in your life?
Voojagig
Lest be honest, it sounds like your husband is already deceiving himself.
xmaneds
seconded. TAKE SON FOR VACCINES. --- isn't State Law on your side???????
arbucklecunningham
You can't so easily generalize state law, it could literally differ in 50 ways.
xmaneds
good point -- @OP must look up the law in her state, that's the only thing that counts -- you are right about that
arbucklecunningham
I think it would be better in the long run to work the issue out. You wouldn't want your spouse going behind your back would you?
xmaneds
another excellent point.
