Kind of the opposite is James J. Butcher, the son of Jim Butcher. Not only is he using his legal name bit his book covers kind of look like Dresden Files novels. That being said, I still enjoy James J. Butcher's books, but I wish I didn't go into them knowing they where Jim's kid so I could know how much of that enjoyment is not reflected off of his father.

The Thor movies were a weird series of ups and downs, where Thor seemed to get progressively dumber with each sequel. I am not sure why they kept Cap and Iron Man so close to their comic book versions, but made Thor into a himbo.

Ragnarok was just a much goofier movie, but he was also dealing with the loss of his father. So he was basically a young adult dealing with loss. His arc in Infinity War/End Game expanded on that. Imagine a 20- something dealing with trauma.

We view it as such, because it is very easy to see how it screws things up, and rightfully so, but just because the results end up positive, doesn't make it not nepotism.

I haven't read the book, but I feel like they could have halved the number of episodes and essentially put two episodes together to make them longer. Watching it week to week was annoying because it felt like the episode had just started, and then it ended again.

Yeah, I don't think anything was cut for time from the book, pretty sure they actually added stuff that wasn't there, like the scenes of the bots getting built. Next few books were short, too, so I don't have high hopes for longer episodes in season 2

Books are pretty good, but IMO I feel the (visual) worldbuilding works better in the series.
And the books are irritating at how they're pretty much pamphlet-lenght, but publishers are asking for a full hardback prices (even for ebooks)

Nepotism is the president of the US hiring his daughter to head a committee on eliminating the practice of nepotism in the federal government.

"Nepotism" has nasty ring to it, but it's honestly just someone getting a leg up, no matter how minor, due to family ties.
In common parlance it's used as shorthand for "someone undeserving/unqualified got hired/became successful because of their family connections," but that's not what the word really means. Even though the Skarsgård brothers all skilled and accomplished actors, being "Stellan's kids" is guaranteed to have helped in one way or another, which is, by definition, nepotism.

Nepotism is any instance of you having advantage or favor due to your familial ties. If you landing a job/position was in anyway influenced because a relative's power/influence that is by definition nepotism.
If you audition for an acting role and the director/producer goes "hey arent you so and so's brother/sister/son/daughter/niece/nephew I've worked with them before they're great" chances are your relative just influenced that job offer and you have benefited from nepotism.

Yes, you make an excellent reference to the 3rd or 4th definition of nepotism. But it also includes "based on the relationship not merit". They are all very good actors, so not having merit might be a tough argument. But you're right, if Bill gets a job because Larry worked with Stellen, that is indeed a form of nepotism. It becomes difficult to define in industries that are small and close-knit where everybody knows everybody (or knows of pretty much everybody). Are people getting jobs based on merit, or because somebody knows somebody? What do you call it when it's a little bit of both? I.e. they merited the opportunity, but the relationship helped? In some ways, actors who are children/nieces/nephews/siblings of other successful actors can't get work without it being nepotism to some extent.
