The last two suck

Ugh... While it makes a good point, the rhyming and meter in that second poem is truly terrible.

There is such a thing a a yurple which is part of a bridle if I recall correctly, and has been used in a poem to rhyme with purple

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Wrong. Orange rhymes with Purple.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

There are 2 words that rhyme with Purple. Hirple - to walk with a limp, and Curple - part of a horse's harness... Both go great in a poem

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Kudos. My brother, the poet known as Tirepoet or Poetic Hermit would have loved to play this game! Google him! He died in 09 #imissmykirk

Man these Haiku's are terrible.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The concept of not having a name for a color so you call it an already-known color is why orange haired people are called redheads

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I had a gerbal who was fertile. His name was Myrtle. I also had a turtle. Although non verbal, they were still in my inner circle.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Perhaps the population that spawned the culture without purple was colorblind. I can't differentiate purple from blue.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Ancient greeks had no word for blue. Fun fact

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This is also why red heads are call red heads and not orange heads. Orange as a color didn't exist.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Last line. Bravo!!!!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Homer was centuries before Rome. So that person is still kinda right

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Is this how poets see who has the bigger penis?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Ok so we need a blue flower to replace violets.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Then why not "Roses are red, hydrangeas are blue"?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Hydrangeas can be persuaded to colors from mint green to magenta by soil acidity and aluminium. Great blues, but not _consistantly_ blue.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Well, violets are never blue so it's a step in the right direction.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

In e.g. Japanese, traffic lights can be considered red, yellow and blue (not green) (both IRL and in anime). A fascinating Wiki-article >>

Will someone link Eminem rhyming purple. It's fantastic. He does orange too.

8 years ago | Likes 66 Dislikes 3

It's a slant rhyme. No discredit to his skills, fantastic wordplay. But a true rhyme is correspondence in terminal sound. Count purple out

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I've heard that Orange also did not exist in English until much later (no source or date, sadly)

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Too true! Which is why we have "redheads" and not "orangeheads". The name for the color comes from the citrus fruit!

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

"Rhyming..."

8 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 10

It doesn't matter if the words are real or not. As long as the sound is the same then it's a rhyme.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Syringe?

Oranges. https://youtu.be/lPcR5RVXHMg

Blorange Hill in the UK, though it’s a proper noun. Also Hurple is a word falling out of most dictionaries now, but means a slight limp.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

None of those are rhyming with orange.

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

He never actually rhymed the word orange, he rhymed a mispronounced orange + another word.

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

Door Hinge butt-fucking rhymes with orange!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It doesn't unless you bastardize it.

What is Dark Urple?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Mauve. The color worn by Queen Victoria to the Royal Exhibition in 1862. This sparked the industrial age of fashion dyes.

8 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

So... Mauve ends on urple?
