Dammit, that used to be a really good school, too. 😔

From experience... "No homo" is often twice as lurid, or more.

The GOPedos' First Amendment. Free speech... isn't.

Almost went to Texas Tech. Glad I didn't, for a number of reasons. Did you know they have a random dirt mound on their campus which is considered a landmark because it's the highest elevation in Lubbock?

3 months ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

The highest thing in Lubbock is a welder that just came back from the pipeline.

Freedom! Liberty!

It seems like they don't have a humanities department, just health science

Reputation and academic respect dwindle...

All they care about is football, so I doubt it

3 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Maybe just write about all the horrible parts of US history instead. Plenty of material.

I'm sensing a high stakes game of "how queer can this peer reviewed research paper get in a topic that has nothing to do with the LGBTQ+". Come for the political protest, read for the curiosity, stay for the entertainment!

Fingers in the ears

Colleges blocking specific topics is proof that education system is broken and fueled too much by politics.

3 months ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

Umm if it's thesis and dissertations they aren't just banning papers they are banning whole fields of study.

3 months ago | Likes 325 Dislikes 4

Yes.

3 months ago | Likes 34 Dislikes 1

Funny. I swear I've heard this story before

3 months ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 1

The words have changed, but the tune is the same.

3 months ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

"The only fields they need to study are filled with cotton!" -Trump

3 months ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

This isn't true, but I bet you had to think about it...

3 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Nah; it was too coherent to be true. Also, not filled with enough self-fellating statements.

If that’s a state institution then the ban is patently unconstitutional and will be quickly disposed of in court (though not quickly enough). Stupid fucking Nazis gotta ruin everything.

3 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Maybe they can write their thesis and dissertations in crayon.

3 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 4

All they need to do is draw a swastika or pledge to always protect the billionaires.

3 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

They've been straight up Nazi's for years, even before Trump.

3 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The free speech absolutists are oddly quiet

3 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

They say to write what you know, so we banned people from writing about things we don't want people to know and

3 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

One of the first things the Nazi's did was to burn the largest library on LGBTQ research in the world, if we can't start seeing patterns here there's something wrong, these institutes and subjects are basically the first targets of rising fascist dictatorships.

What are you doing about it?

3 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 9

From where I am we can only look on and encourage our politicians and representatives to basically distance themselves from the current US administration and hope the US population comes around and rallies against this, we wait for the November midterms with hope.

3 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Thank you for your non-bloviated answer.

3 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Stupid fucking state. Can we give it back to Mexico already?

3 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

No freedom down there anymore?

3 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Keep fucking writing them.

It's funny how the much-feared left-wing bias in universities was, in all actuality, just liberalism. You know, the free exchange of ideas. But it's never been about competing in "the marketplace of ideas." As with anything conservative, it's always about power.

Fortunately, since this is public university, I do believe the 1st amendment applies. Expelling someone for something they wrote is 100% a free speech thing.

3 months ago | Likes 46 Dislikes 2

Still likely gonna have to fight for it, the current admin has been wiping their asses with the constitution on a daily basis for years now

3 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

members of my state's senate flipped the fuck out over realizing the state constitution mandated funding for liberal arts in order for the university to continue, and they had to be told what liberal arts mean, the stupid fuck.

3 months ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 1

I mean, legally speaking they SHOULD lose funding over this, but I'm not especially confident in the current administration's willingness to follow the Constitution when it says something they dislike.

3 months ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 1

They are going to lose funding as some students will just choose not to attend this university at all. Others wont care and still apply, but this will ultimately hurt the university in the end. Gen Z has the highest queer identifying percentage out of all the generations thus far.

They should have their accreditation pulled

That's a brave thing for a place that's flammable to say.

I'd be okay with christians if they kept that shit in their bedrooms and out of the public eye

In the same spirit

They're always shoving their extremist ideologes down everyone's throats. Like their "marriages", their "storytimes", their parades, public displays, and street decorations ... and their Pride month every December.

They make it their whole identity.

And they love to indoctrinate and molest children. Some of them dress like women, in flamboyant robes and sashes.

3 months ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

"You shouldn't be allowed to be near children."

3 months ago | Likes 63 Dislikes 1

Unlike with LGBT people, I can point to statistics that back that one up. Evangelicals have a rather horrid rate of child abuse.

Of multiple types

Every day I’m seeing people getting arrested that are youth pastors or in a religious organization. Makes me sick.

What are LGBTQ+ topics? Why specifically that? Any other topics being banned?

3 months ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 3

Anything about lesbian, gay people, bisexual people, trans people, intersex people, aro/ace people, and any other category of queer.

They want to foment hate so they can divide people and then use that division to get people to vote Republican so the Republicans can make laws that enrich the billionaires.

I am unsure if there are other topic being banned right now.

3 months ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 1

I was being a bit cheeky because it's unclear, perhaps intentionally. I have no idea how this could possibly hold up in court. Could I write a theatre thesis about a gay playwright? What about studying a novel with a trans character? It is the definition of a slippery slope.

3 months ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

The vagueness is absolutely intentional.

3 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

This is the slope, not slipping towards it, this is the slope. This is to make people uneducated so that its easier to dismiss them as people. They want us uneducated, Reagan knew this and warned about an educated electorate and this is where we are.
