I prefer to pronounce it: "The wildly successful social media platform that Elon Musk killed in 2 seconds because he is a narcissistic idiot"

I pronounce it history - account closed.

"Ten"

Elon's trying to get 3 companies with "X" in the name, so he can say he's the new "Triple X"

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I think he's gambling on people talking about it so much that it's free advertising for the platform. But it is a big gamble with small gains if it works and big losses if it doesn't.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Elon also launched a companion video hosting website to go with the new branding. xvideos

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

He is changing it to a porn site -- thats where the money is!

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Or as they say around here "äks" and "kseetit"

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

"so Elon, you've just paid billions of dollars for one of the world's most recognisable brands, what are you gonna do with it?" "throw that shit in the bin and call it X like I tried to name all my other companies because I never matured past the early 2000s"

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

It's pronounced "yet another reason to stop using Twitter"

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

eXtreme stupidity. ☕️😄

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

X makes an sh sound . So xitter.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Thanks OP! “Shiiit” it is.

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I deleted my twitter account the other day. Felt really good. I hadn't really used it since Elon took over and the giant strobing X sign was enough to make me run away for good. I don't even want to watch the dumpster fire anymore

3 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 2

I vote for “skeet”

I stopped watching when the white font text was shown against a white background.

Exactly! If people keep giving him attention, he's going to keep doing stupid shit.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You really think that someone who named their kid after an experimental spy plane put ANY thought into changing the name on his pet project? He’s dumb as a brick and probably thought “X” was cool or something.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It was foretold that x was gonna give it to us; but not like this, not like this...

3 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

This make me wonder if you can direct message on X to DMX

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

3 years ago | Likes 53 Dislikes 2

I now pronounce it Twitter. I think I'm just going to keep doing that

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

X in Mexico is quite often a sh, the last one she mentioned. So yeah, shits.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

"X" marks the spot... where Twitter's corpse is buried.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The asshole formerly known as Musk?

3 years ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 1

You don't give a Ten?

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

He doesn't give an unknown

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

He doesn't give a mild porn.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

but X gonna give it to ya anyway...

3 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Tweets are now X-cretions...

3 years ago | Likes 524 Dislikes 0

Fitting, since they probably are made while sitting on the porcelain throne of excremeditation

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

X-crements.

3 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

Gonna Xit all over it.

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

3 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

3 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

And X-videos. Wait...

3 years ago | Likes 36 Dislikes 0

No no, I think you're on to something here

3 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I certainly don't get this joke as it references the porn website called xvideos that I definitely don't go to therefor I have no way to understand

3 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

3 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Xhits. And Xhitting.

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

always were.gif

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

So if you tweet art is it now x-art?

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

From dictionary[dot]com - what kind of IDIOT throws away this kind of brand recognition and embedded language in the English lexicon.

3 years ago | Likes 96 Dislikes 0

"A spot in the dictionary? HA, I can do better than that! I'll get us a spot in the ALPHABET. I am very smart."

3 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

I are* very smart

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's like Google suddenly changing their name to.... well the first thing I thought of was "fartblaster" but I think far too many people would be okay with saying they were going to "fartblast" something on the internet. Something dumber and more generic like... "Things." No one's going to bother with "Things."

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

"hey do you know the answer to this question?" "one moment, I'm just gonna blast out some farts on fartblaster and then I'll have your answer!"

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

A plus-side for google would be that people would definitely Blast Farts which would help to control their trademark, which is weakened every time someone uses google as a verb "i'll google that!" instead of saying "i will look that up on the search engine known as google" always use google as a verb so they lose the trademark like velcro

Musk has been obsessed with the letter X (and the idea of having a "can do anything" app or site named that) since the 90s. He originally owned X.com, which merged with Confinity to form PayPal. He then unsuccessfully tried to convince the rest of the PayPal leadership to change the name to xPayPal. He founded SpaceX with the money he got from eBay buying PayPal, named his kids with Grimes X and Y, and this year founded X Corp and xAI.

3 years ago | Likes 34 Dislikes 0

He wants to reinvent WeChat

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

…Why? Has he ever said why? Or is it just that he never matured beyond “spoiled 12 year old”? I also remember thinking adding X to things made them sound cooler, but then I graduated middle school =\

3 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

Apparently he's said he is convinced that people think of treasure and treasure maps, with the whole "X marks the spot" thing... but I think it's mainly because it was one of his first big investments, and he just couldn't let it go (he bought the X.com URL back from PayPal for "sentimental reasons", after all) while refusing to acknowledge the issues with that name despite fuckloads of evidence that it sucks. https://mashable.com/article/musk-x-twitter-paypal

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

More like the Twitter formerly known as a platform.

3 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Yasss! Totally fits.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

How do you retranslate "Tweets" from that? What does one call a "re-tweet"?

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

"I'm going to perform the action formerly known as tweet that." Really rolls off the tongue.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

NPR did this! "Elon Musk's X, the company formerly known as Twitter." Literally the opening of the article. https://www.npr.org/2023/08/01/1191318468/elon-musk-sues-disinformation-researchers-claiming-they-are-driving-away-adverti

Now it's Xitter (pronounced Shitter)

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It’s Xitter, with “x” pronounced as an “sh.”

3 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

I don't refer to it at all and am pretty sure my life is better for it.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

3 years ago | Likes 83 Dislikes 0

Twitter.

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

This. all the adults in the room rolled their eyes at Elon Musk. maybe in 2 to 3 years, If it's still called x, I might start making the transition.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This he is just hoping to keep headlines focused on him. Always remember any publicity is good publicity. This is how trump won the first time. His name was everywhere.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Xitter

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I had this thought too, exactly this. ‘The artist formerly known as Prince’ situation fits very well here.

3 years ago | Likes 31 Dislikes 0

Ye

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

except prince shouldn't have to share a similar name with elon's abomination. prince did nothing to deserve being put down on that level

3 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

True. The fact that Twitter is too big to be renamed is my take on it, prince was still always going to be prince. Twitter is still always going to be Twitter.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Whatever. Everyone on this app is an idiot that doesn’t understand the genius that is Elon Musk. Through cunning strategies and business acumen, he has successfully turned Twitter/X into a haven of advertiser’s most coveted demographic: racist incels.

3 years ago | Likes 42 Dislikes 0

The new X Videoside is great too. Xvideos . com . Lot of scientific content there.

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Mostly biology, mating more specifically.

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

3 years ago | Likes 31 Dislikes 0

Hey, be nice; he hasn't turned it into 4chan -yet-.

3 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

4chan occasionally had redeeming features.

3 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

4chan also was by its own definition a toxic waste dump of the Internet. You can certainly avoid a dumpster labeled "mutagenic waste that makes incels" but what is supposed to be the top social media platform doesn't get that excuse. People expect a website like Twitter to actually, dispose of waste (banning harmful and toxic users) like a site with moderation is supposed to do.
