Explanation: The Emperor of Mankind, often referred to by His faithful as the "God-Emperor," the "Master of Mankind," or simply "the Emperor," and who sometimes referred to Himself as "Revelation," known to the forces of Chaos as the False Emperor or the Corpse Emperor, is the immortal Perpetual and psyker who serves as the reigning monarch of the Imperium of Man, and is described by the Imperial Ecclesiarchy and the Imperial Cult as the father, guardian and god of Humanity.
The Chaos Gods and the Daemons of the Warp refer to Him as "the Anathema" for He is the greatest embodiment of universal order in the galaxy today and the most potent foe of Chaos in existence. He was, and remains, the most powerful Human psyker to have ever been born.

Fun Fact: The Star Child is a mysterious entity said to represent the soul of the Emperor of Mankind. It is also known as the Numen and the Chaos Child. Over the millennia since the Emperor's interment upon the Golden Throne, the link between his body and soul has become increasingly tenuous. As the Emperor's spirit drifts through the warp, much of its energies have been dissolved, except for a tiny core that remained whole. So long as this portion of the Emperor's soul survived, there remained hope for humanity, for just as the New Man was born of the collective souls of the Shamans, so too may the Emperor's soul be reborn one day. This potential was merely a child awaiting birth, the Star Child. The Star Child also represents the human portion of the warp.

Nothing is wrong with them; Malcador is just amazed, because where would you even get one? After everything that happened on Earth up to that point, he might have had to recreate tomatoes entirely from memory via genetic engineering just to eat that one.

Because in many parts of the world, the standard tomatoes you can get in the supermarket have barely any distinctive flavours left. They’re grown in greenhouses for colour and size, never see proper sunlight, and end up tasting like little more than chewable tap water.

Compared to the tomatoes in my garden, store bought tomatoes are a simulacrum of a real tomato.

I prefer bellpeppers if the tomatoes are bad. Farmer's market tomatoes however? I could eat a kilogram raw and be happy.

Unless i misunderstand, they’re moving away from the whole dark king/star child storyline because they saw how poorly AoS was received. Which sucks because I thought it was a super neat idea. I think 40k is coolest when it goes cosmic horror - and least cool when it’s just some dudes on a planet (Armageddon storyline is boring me to tears).

A major subplot of the Dawn of Fire series was the Star Child story line. That series started in 2020 and concluded in 2025, with AOS starting in 2015. And AOS is very popular now, the reception was because of what they did to fantasy, not the new setting per se.

If you can count on GW for something, it is to retcon.

GW doesn't 'retcon' things. Everything is an in-universe story, report, rumor, myth, etc. It's all still canonically true in that someone in-universe still believes or claims to believe the old stuff, but it's also now canonically true that that someone 'else' believes the new stuff. Which is actually true? That's up to you. "Everything is canon, not everything is true" is a common saying about the lore.

I like AoS, but it does seem that it was more or less forced upon the fan base who enjoyed the original Fantasy setting.

As a huge Fantasy fan, I felt that way at first, but I admit AoS has grown on me over time. But especially now we have the Old World coming back, I think it and AoS can coexist just fine. (We just pretend the End Times never happened, because that was a hot mess)

Fun fact: the Emperor’s believed age puts him before humans developed the ability to digest milk, meaning he’s lactose intolerant (unless he psychically alters his metabolism, which is totally possible).

(Spoilers) The book, Master of Mankind, implies he's older than the Hittites.

It's hard to argue otherwise. In one book, he tries to claim that his sons knew of the dangers of the warp, but it is evident he never gave them all the info they needed.

Which given the temperament of most of his sons is a very sensible move. Tell the likes of Russ that there's an entire connected but separate reality FULL of monsters in need of exterminating, but he's not allowed to go there and fight them. See how long he resists.

Then remember there's 18 of these superpowered idiots with 100k sons each who all inherited their incredible lack of self control when it comes to A Good Fight. Even rational Guilliman charges off without hesitation to fite.

The precious few! Sevatar was pretty levelheaded too but he also did what Curze told him to and if for some reason Curze decided his legion was going into the warp to punch demons his response would mostly be to go with it. Ok this is what they're doing now.

Common sense is depressingly rare amongst these guys.

Doesn’t the god emperor predate tomatoes in Anatolia by quite a while? I’m shaky on the lore there.

Hes pre-ancient history. well over 10K years older from our time. But he was in hiding for most of human history up until the end of the Dark Age of Technology. I'd argue theres plenty of time for him to enjoy different periods of human advancements and culture in that timeframe, including an insatiable love of tomatoes, just like his ethnic contemporaries/descendants.
