Once you have a population big enough that people don't interact regularly and don't know each other personally is when things start getting rough. And it really falls apart when you add "supervisor", "manager" and any other job meant to oversee others rather than work with as those jobs rarely add anything beneficial to anyone other than those higher up.

Echo chambers are way more prevalent that people think. Companies deliberately design things so that you only hear positive reinforcement no matter how weird and out their your viewpoint is, so people with weird viewpoints get linked together with the millions of others with that viewpoint and think they're the majority viewpoint. Companies deliberately design things so that you only hear positive reinforcement no matter how weird and out their your viewpoint is, so people with weird viewpoints get linked together with the millions of others with that viewpoint and think they're the majority viewpoint.
