NGL, this specific setup is giving me three kinds of ick (If an AI agent gives consent is it because it actually consents or does it just believe it does because that’s how it was programmed?), but given how cornball the rest of what I’ve seen is, I’m not actually worried.

An AI agent isn't "alive" or "sapient" enough to be able to give consent. To put it another way, it would be like asking your phone's autocorrect for consent. What the current set of tools are extremely good at is mashing words together in a way that sometimes makes sense, but it is absolutely based on the inputs you give it.

An AI would be capable of thought beyond its program. That's the I part. The iffy part is that dog-shell is currently occupied by a troubleshooter program so any consent given is technically by a foreign agent rather than that shell's designated occupant. If a spirit inhabits you, does it have authority to give consent for things done to your vessel?

Isn't the implication that the shell's hardware wouldn't be an autonomous sentient agent, whereas the troubleshooter is an autonomous sentient agent?

To your last question, I'd say no, (unless it was previously consented to.)
More broadly, the way the current so-called "Ai" things are set up, are incapable of consenting to anything because they lack true intelligence.

Depends. Am I dead, or possessed? If I'm possessed, then it's against my will and without consent. If I'm dead and the spirit is animating my body, it can do whatever it wants. It's the spirit's body now.

....the thing is, we could almost have this now. We have animatronic pets, we have conversational AI, *and* we have mockup dolls for estrus. Hmmm....

We actually have sex-dolls with AI assistants build in already, as well.

We don't have AI, and LLMs are nearer to dim-witted yes men than conversationalists. Fine for dogs but the feline models simply wouldn't be immersive!

That's okay, getting the impression most of us wouldn't be using these for conversation anyway. Immersion, on the other hand.. we'll, we'd be immersing ourselves in *something*...

And in all honesty, do we *really* want intelligence in our toys? I think I've read a few stories with that as a starting point....
