Right after he declares himself dictator for life (not just for one day) and then goes golfing as his sycophants start tearing down everything that makes this country great.
To put this election in terms of a trolley problem: voting for Biden is like pulling the lever and condemning one or two people to death. Yeah, it sucks and it feels dirty. Trump on the other hand, is the guy who manages to multi-track drift the trolley so it kills everyone on both tracks. Simultaneously, he throws a fucking rock at your head while passing by. He also dynamites the tracks behind him to fuck up all the future trolleys. And he’s a rapist.
People out here not voting for Biden because of his age are just incredibly stupid. Nobody seems to give a shit about his policies or how much good work he has been doing. The alternative is reversing every bit of progress we made for the past 20 years and effectively ending democracy. Hmmmm tough choice!
It would help to think of voting as part of a long term solution. You almost certainly won’t get exactly what you want voting for Biden/Harris in the next presidential election but if you don’t you might not have any options in the election after that.
If I've learned anything by enduring Trump the past few decades I've learned he only does things that help him personally and financially. Trump doesn't care one way or another about LGBTQ+ people. For, against, he doesn't care. He'll use whatever gets him votes. This is him simply appealing to his base, which knowing this is what his base wants, is almost more terrifying than Trump himself.
His only moral value is "I'm the most important person that's ever lived" and all he does is act in ways to try and force everyone to agree with that. If he actually had a plan or agenda more complicated than that he would've gotten way more heinous shit done, but his ego is all he cares about.
Former/current republicans; your choices are a drink you don't like, or raw sewage with ground glass. you will be forced to drink one, your only choice is to be unhappy or dead.
Biden's done some good stuff in office. Do I want to re-elect him? Hell fucking no. But I would rather him than that other POS. As you say, I'm going to grit my teeth and vote for the better of the old farts.
I'm sorry Biden isn't going to tuck you in and give you a forehead kiss before telling you a bedtime story as he makes all your dreams come true, but the other guy is going to detain your middle eastern neighbors, eliminate contraception and women's rights, and probably make it legal to hunt trans people because their pronouns are scary. Fucking grow up, none of us love Biden, but implying that another term of him would be as bad as Trump is childishly blind.
I legit love the Biden administration, their policies have been spot on. Considering the literal decades of absolutely ironclad diplomatic policy surrounding Israel, he's been hogtied in a shit situation there; and of course the Supreme Court is fucking diabolical; but otherwise it's all been pro-environment, pro-union and anti-discrimination. Wishing for instantaneous change is naive, but across 4 years a helluva lot has changed.
I agree. He’s done a shit ton more than anyone gives him credit for. It’s just the thing that a Democratic president comes along & cleans up the shitstorm a Republican administration does and then everyone boohoos him for not creating utopia in 4 years. Stop taking the bait people. The left isn’t stupid/lazy/unmotivated/unqualified for not immediately fixing the GOPs cycles of destruction. Do you see where the ups & downs come from?

Anyone suggesting people not vote for Biden over his stance on Gaza, does NOT care at all about the people there, they are SOLELY doing it to erode support for Biden so they can help Trump win. They know damn well that Trump wont make the situation better, in fact he would make it worse, both there and in the US. So don't be fooled by all the people posting crap about it. Yeah the situation is shit, but not voting would be a LOT worse...
See, you just keep spouting the same stuff, despite knowing that Trump will do the same. And even if you don't vote for Trump instead and just refuse to vote at all, that ONLY lowers Biden's votes, it does NOT hurt Trump's votes at all, so that means that is less votes that Trump needs to get to beat Biden. You clearly cant see that. If Trump wins and you no longer have a vote because of it, know that YOU are to blame.
Exactly. Basically everyone posting about "enabling genocide" are those supporting Trump and only saying it to erode support for Biden. They don't give a damn about people in the middle east. Anyone who does care isn't posting stuff like that because while they want changes in Gaza, they know that not voting only helps Trump and hurts everyone else including Gaza.
This is obvious aand inescapable. Those of us fighting fascism can easily answer "why? how? and then what?" But the fascist trolls can't, their script doesn't go that far.
The reason to call it out isn't to convince the trolls, they probably can't vote in the US anyway, but because most people don't vote and it is a hassle for everyone under retirement age. Many will be tired. stressed. A small doubt, an excuse, a fascile justification to escape the hassle is dangerous and has to be defused.
Preach it, sister / brother! How can people not see that Trump would make everything so much worse. Except for him, his family and a handful of rich ppl. For them he will do good.
I don't believe this is accurate, I fear. There are definitely folks out there using this to manipulate the vote, but there *are* folks who think they're taking a meaningful, principled stance. :( But their reasons for making the argument don't ultimately matter.
No, there aren't. Because when you point out to them that refusing to vote will just be helping Trump win, they start making up excuses. They are Trump supporters just pretending to be concerned about Gaza. The ones actually concerned about it aren't telling people to not vote to "punish Biden".
Yep. It always collapses like a house of cards when you ask them to investigate their thinking. Anyone who thought they had a good reason to believe it and that was their actual reason would have realized their error by now.
Yeah, it's just like religion, once you start pointing out the holes in their story they start making stuff up or talking about "faith". They think people will just believe whatever they say just because they say it.
If the alternative wasn't Trump or any other republican like him, then it wouldn't be an issue. Refusing to vote to "threaten/punish Biden" is only going to help Trump win. That is the only outcome of it. You will hand the US over to the fascists and ensure that not only are the people of Gaza lost, but also the people in the US.
Kinda missed the part where the war is happening now and they're threatening him now. Most people I know are voicing these perspectives to raise awareness and cause action during THIS term. If the votes aren't taken for granted then maybe they opinions can shift policy in the present. Everybody understands the threats of a Trump presidency, but why wait until November to try to affect change?
The threat of not getting elected isn't the only thing that changes policy. We can pressure them without voting against them. If you're planning to vote for Biden and you think he should win, then discouraging people from voting for him as some kind of roundabuot bluff is the wrong way to go.
Most people I know aren't telling other people not to vote for Biden. They are saying that they don't like how he's handling, for example, the war in Israel and that he would have to earn their individual vote by adjusting course. What happens after that are reactions like yours and the OP where they get shouted down/guilted/berated for not understanding what's at stake.
People like to feel morally superior with how they vote (or lack of voting) and use it as a way virtue signal. Its an incredibly stupid. You will never have a perfect candidate to vote for. There is no "teaching the Dems/Biden a lesson" if biden loses he will just retire and live the rest of his life just fine as Trans and other LGBTQ+ people get persecuted. If you dont want to vote for biden over his actions in gaza, the alternative is helping the person instigated the oct 7 attack with the
In my experience, virtually everyone attacking biden from the left is protesting his actions and the fact that we have to choose between an outright fascist and an unabashed capitalist with problematic views and policies. The mechanism for change is supposedly exercising the right to nonviolent protest, which is currently met with state violence and no change in policy, just like it was under trump. Saying "at least we're not that bad" for decades and still being bad isn't enough.
Biden is fully in support of Israel and hasn't said a word about the unlawful actions of states or public universities receiving federal funding. Passively allowing such actions is de facto actively allowing them. I'd be willing to give some grace if he tried to intervene or made a statement about allowing public discourse, but his only statements have been to deny a genocide and undermine the ICC's authority. He's complicit.
Biden pausing weaponships and currently trying to broker a peace deal that involves a Palestinian state with coalition arab nations patrolling it means he fully supports israel?
Biden *threatened* to halt arms shipments and delayed the shipment of the 2,000 lb bombs and hasn't made any statement to say that even after the attack on Rafah he's withdrawing support. So he's not supplying bombs the size of small cars to drop on urban areas. I'll give that a 1% effort and say that he's still 99% all in for Israel. Peace talks will only happen during a cease fire and Israel keeps rejecting offers. They are bad faith actors. It's not hard to see.
Fascism Adjacent vs Fascism doesn't have to be a thing each and every single election cycle. We keep choosing this. Until we break this cycle, this pattern will not change. Now, considering the dems wouldn't even hold a primary, going so far as to cancel primarying /entirely/ in states like Florida, they are, at minimum, complicit, in the system and the harms it does. Doubly so when hardly anything is actually done. We didn't even get to choose our Democrat ballots for other seats
The 4/14/24 note, that only applies to Federal agencies and marketplace insurance, so, cool, that's better than a 0, but only marginally. State health agencies are still free to charge and deny any service to you. Don't even get a choice in participating. He doesn't have full control of these systems, but he *could* rip the federal funding they all receive. He hasn't done that. He hasn't stopped building Trump's wall despite that budget being dry since 2019, before his time, he's still 1/
separating families at the border, and supporting an active genocide in Israel with only a "No, that's bad Ben, don't do that, oh and by the way here's another 200 billion military aid package so you can go do it again."
Biden might be less fascist than Trump, but he's still a fascist with little regard for the wellbeing of the citizens. Trans, cis, religious. His actions show very clearly. He's just Trump with a mask and some perfume.
It absolutely is. Our choices in this election literally come down to fighting for a better world, or open fascism where very quickly people will start being thrown in camps, and then in ovens. If you think that's hyperbole, you haven't been paying attention. Republican-controlled states are increasingly trying to pass the death penalty for child sexual abuse, and then defining pretty much any gender nonconformity as child sexual abuse. That's where we're going.
I learned this lesson by abstaining from voting for Clinton in 2016 never again infill the Republican Party is destroyed it’s vote blue no matter who. And if you don’t I will read any virtue signaling via abstaining as faking being progressive while really being a closet conservative
Some people won't understand what almost happened Jan 6th and what's at stake this Nov until it is their own mother and sister they are forced to watch be raped by their masters and told they would be further tortured and killed if they didn't put on a uniform and help round up their neighbors. This has happened under every fascist rule. Those who don't learn from history are doomed to have their mom's and sisters raped and tortured. It's just that straight forward. Always has been.
Pompeo Doctrine. regardless if you think you have multiple choices, in reality there are only two outcomes this November. Either Biden is president or Trump is president. You can help Biden win or help trump win
You can help Biden win or help America lose. I'm not American but from conversations I've had with Americans, it seems like women, POC, and LGBT+ are terrified of Trump winning. And I truly mean TERRIFIED, to the point of them exploring if they can seek asylum in other countries. I wish I could do more to help, is there anything us non-Americans can do?
There will never be a morally pure *candidate*, but there sure as fuck are morally pure *choices*, such as voting for Biden in order to keep the previous fuckwad out
Yeah, you can either vote for the guy who won't take a strong stance against a genocidal dictator, or you can vote for a genocidal dictator. And not voting, or third party voting is a vote for the orange turd. Yes normally you have more than one choice in a democracy. Not this time. Vote for Biden or never again.
You won't even have a good candidate to vote for. You will simply get what you're given if you continue to vote against candidates rather than for them.
I've been a primary voter for the last 24 years. I've pretty consistently been given right-of-center candidates because we exist in a two party system regardless of how many candidates they are for those two electorate slots. Until we move from an election format that doesn't favor corporate bribery we will get candidates our corporate overlords will fund.
I think the goal of radicals is not progress but radicalization. In my conversations on Twitter, they can't believe that everyone isn't as outraged as they are, so their goal becomes to make everyone as radical as themselves. Minor progress goes against that radicalization.
Expecting working adults to be able to afford a normal standard of living, not wanting to be poisoned, and not wanting your country taking part in a holocaust isn't radical. It's as fucking centrist as possible.
Ok, when do you propose we work towards that. Can you measure it in feet of see level? We've already failed to stop most of the damage a functioning democracy could have stopped. We've already stacked up dead school children and victims of poverty and medical apathy. When do you figure it will be time for humane leadership?
When we get past the cynicism that both sides are the same and the myth of a messianic progressive president who will solve every problem by fiat. We need majority dems in both houses to do anything. That takes real work, not just crapping on people who want to make a change but have to work within our current system. There are 330 million people in the US and many are on the precipice of poverty if they aren’t already there. Sudden change hurts as many people as it helps.
And keep in mind that while kids do sometimes go through a "burn it all down, it'll be awesome, just like the movies!" phase, just statistically the vast majority of people advancing agendas that would destroy the US through internal conflict or incompetent leadership are actually either Brad Parscale's Nucleus bots or one of 10s of thousands of GRU agents or the million or so PLASSF agents using social media as a munition in a gray zone cognitive war.
Unfortunately more and more of them seem to be useful Republican idiots parroting those initial seeds of foreign manipulation. Once the virus they unleash spreads into the RW media echo-chamber the Republican will act as though this has been their stance all along. My roommate's regurgitated Russian propaganda regarding Ukraine and Russia as the good guy is evidence enough. Hell Trump is a Russian asset and spouts both Putin's words and jizz into a microphone anytime Russia is brought up to him.
On another note it seems recently China split PLASFF into 3 different factions with cyber intelligence and warfare now having its own autonomous department under the PLACF or People's Liberation Army Cyberspace Force. Since China intended for the original PLASSF was intended to keep intelligence from not being shared when pertinent among various Chinese governmental departments and agencies it's funny they decided to break it up into 3 separate agencies but we will see how it works for them.
So reading up a bit: interesting insights, thanks again for the insight. The role of the PLASSF in non-311 Base operations may be inaccurate though it would seem obvious to leverage capability into global operations. Is this carried forward into the CSF or are their "offensive" capabilities purely hacking, not IO? Where does "liaison work" fit? Who pays the 50 cent army? How many of those millions are given access to western networks?
That you include Biden in your childish definition of "fascist" demonstrates your astonishing historical illiteracy. On the off chance you're not a fascist troll; think about what you'll say to your gay, trans, or minority friends when Trump is dragging them off to camps or expulsion, to your female friends executed for not registering a pregnancy or losing a fetus, to the Palestinians slaughtered with Trump's active support: "yah, but Biden wasn't pro-palestinian enough for my vote!"
Factually, at this point. No, you're dead wrong. Joe Biden is enabling a holocaust in Palestine. If he can't swallow that for the sake of voting against Trump then he's not helping trump. The lazy allowance of a two-party system to dominate our democracy is helping Trump. And if you're just shrugging and allowing it to continue then YOU are helping Trump. Nobody owes you their vote. That's not how a fucking democracy works.
If there is no atrocity the democrats can lay their hands on that won't lose them your vote (and if ethnic cleansing isn't a big enough one, then there isn't - there is literally no moral principle you won't abandon over your status-quo tribalism) they will continue to be complicit in atrocities indefinitely. By getting stuck in the "better than the alternative!" heuristic you have ceded the entirety of your democratic power or will to change anything.
And be doing that, you're enabling multiple genocides. If Trump gets elected then the genocide of Palestinians is accelerated and it becomes incredibly likely that an LGBTQ-focused genocide starts in the USA. And what little help to Ukraine dries up too and Russia is able to continue to murder them and do better at it.
Congratulations on choosing the option that makes more genocide happen you complete and utter moron.
That phrase "the genocide is accelerated" is such a heavy phrase because it acknowledges that it's currently happening under the current regime with our current support and we're just meant to support that in fear that the thing that's happening will...happen more?
Not voting for anyone is a de facto vote for Trump. To quote Rush, if you choose not to decide then you still have made a choice. I'm glad you have the fucking privilege to be able to choose not to vote. As a trans girl, I fucking don't.
If there's only one real choice (between not voting and voting for the least worst option) then the open threat of not voting with clear conditions is the ONLY way the average person can exercise collective political power. No person, ANY person, red or blue, will receive my vote if they enable genocide, imperialism and global horror. The same stands for the oppression of LGBT people. I make sure that anyone who represents me knows this. You ought to do the same.
No they're not. If you want to run off that logic, why aren't you out there with a gun trying to find and shoot Trump right now? Isn't your inaction helping him? I'm not being bullied into participating in a system that hates me and everyone I have ever loved, I will continue to fight at the grassroots for actual change rather than superficially passing the buck between two different tribes of ghoulish corporate puppets. You can keep voting for 20 years and wonder why your life still sucks.

IDontKnowWhatToDoAnymoreAndImTired
It absolutely is. Our choices in this election literally come down to fighting for a better world, or open fascism where very quickly people will start being thrown in camps, and then in ovens. If you think that's hyperbole, you haven't been paying attention. Republican-controlled states are increasingly trying to pass the death penalty for child sexual abuse, and then defining pretty much any gender nonconformity as child sexual abuse. That's where we're going.
Ironferrox
I learned this lesson by abstaining from voting for Clinton in 2016 never again infill the Republican Party is destroyed it’s vote blue no matter who. And if you don’t I will read any virtue signaling via abstaining as faking being progressive while really being a closet conservative
ChewyTheWookie
Some people won't understand what almost happened Jan 6th and what's at stake this Nov until it is their own mother and sister they are forced to watch be raped by their masters and told they would be further tortured and killed if they didn't put on a uniform and help round up their neighbors. This has happened under every fascist rule. Those who don't learn from history are doomed to have their mom's and sisters raped and tortured. It's just that straight forward. Always has been.
CoarseAndSalty
Super neat. Could we maybe be adults and put measures in place so the next election isn't also a battle for our survival as a nation?
ChewyTheWookie
Countries that have effectively handled fascism certainly took a different approach.
kingbudo101
Pompeo Doctrine. regardless if you think you have multiple choices, in reality there are only two outcomes this November. Either Biden is president or Trump is president. You can help Biden win or help trump win
MankHoody
You can help Biden win or help America lose. I'm not American but from conversations I've had with Americans, it seems like women, POC, and LGBT+ are terrified of Trump winning. And I truly mean TERRIFIED, to the point of them exploring if they can seek asylum in other countries. I wish I could do more to help, is there anything us non-Americans can do?
Beepity
There will never be a morally pure *candidate*, but there sure as fuck are morally pure *choices*, such as voting for Biden in order to keep the previous fuckwad out
PleasantPeasantPheasant
Yeah, you can either vote for the guy who won't take a strong stance against a genocidal dictator, or you can vote for a genocidal dictator. And not voting, or third party voting is a vote for the orange turd. Yes normally you have more than one choice in a democracy. Not this time. Vote for Biden or never again.
CoarseAndSalty
You won't even have a good candidate to vote for. You will simply get what you're given if you continue to vote against candidates rather than for them.
kingbudo101
thats why the primaries exist. If you don't participate in the primaries, you are just given a candidate
CoarseAndSalty
I've been a primary voter for the last 24 years. I've pretty consistently been given right-of-center candidates because we exist in a two party system regardless of how many candidates they are for those two electorate slots. Until we move from an election format that doesn't favor corporate bribery we will get candidates our corporate overlords will fund.
kingbudo101
Yeah ranked choice voting is the way to go
johnnyhandbags
I think the goal of radicals is not progress but radicalization. In my conversations on Twitter, they can't believe that everyone isn't as outraged as they are, so their goal becomes to make everyone as radical as themselves. Minor progress goes against that radicalization.
CoarseAndSalty
Expecting working adults to be able to afford a normal standard of living, not wanting to be poisoned, and not wanting your country taking part in a holocaust isn't radical. It's as fucking centrist as possible.
johnnyhandbags
I agree but working towards that through positive progress is different than tearing everything down and hoping it gets rebuilt the way you want.
CoarseAndSalty
Ok, when do you propose we work towards that. Can you measure it in feet of see level? We've already failed to stop most of the damage a functioning democracy could have stopped. We've already stacked up dead school children and victims of poverty and medical apathy. When do you figure it will be time for humane leadership?
johnnyhandbags
When we get past the cynicism that both sides are the same and the myth of a messianic progressive president who will solve every problem by fiat. We need majority dems in both houses to do anything. That takes real work, not just crapping on people who want to make a change but have to work within our current system. There are 330 million people in the US and many are on the precipice of poverty if they aren’t already there. Sudden change hurts as many people as it helps.
gesel
And keep in mind that while kids do sometimes go through a "burn it all down, it'll be awesome, just like the movies!" phase, just statistically the vast majority of people advancing agendas that would destroy the US through internal conflict or incompetent leadership are actually either Brad Parscale's Nucleus bots or one of 10s of thousands of GRU agents or the million or so PLASSF agents using social media as a munition in a gray zone cognitive war.
BHPaperstacks
Unfortunately more and more of them seem to be useful Republican idiots parroting those initial seeds of foreign manipulation. Once the virus they unleash spreads into the RW media echo-chamber the Republican will act as though this has been their stance all along. My roommate's regurgitated Russian propaganda regarding Ukraine and Russia as the good guy is evidence enough. Hell Trump is a Russian asset and spouts both Putin's words and jizz into a microphone anytime Russia is brought up to him.
BHPaperstacks
On another note it seems recently China split PLASFF into 3 different factions with cyber intelligence and warfare now having its own autonomous department under the PLACF or People's Liberation Army Cyberspace Force. Since China intended for the original PLASSF was intended to keep intelligence from not being shared when pertinent among various Chinese governmental departments and agencies it's funny they decided to break it up into 3 separate agencies but we will see how it works for them.
gesel
Thanks, my friend, I hadn't flowed that development.
gesel
So reading up a bit: interesting insights, thanks again for the insight. The role of the PLASSF in non-311 Base operations may be inaccurate though it would seem obvious to leverage capability into global operations. Is this carried forward into the CSF or are their "offensive" capabilities purely hacking, not IO? Where does "liaison work" fit? Who pays the 50 cent army? How many of those millions are given access to western networks?
thegringointhenorth
Don't care, still not voting for genocide enablers.
kingbudo101
Congrats on helping trump
thegringointhenorth
I don't want either of your flavours of fascist ice cream. I will not treat the murder of innocents with a shrug and an "oh well".
gesel
That you include Biden in your childish definition of "fascist" demonstrates your astonishing historical illiteracy. On the off chance you're not a fascist troll; think about what you'll say to your gay, trans, or minority friends when Trump is dragging them off to camps or expulsion, to your female friends executed for not registering a pregnancy or losing a fetus, to the Palestinians slaughtered with Trump's active support: "yah, but Biden wasn't pro-palestinian enough for my vote!"
kingbudo101
Except that's what you are doing. You are saying "oh well" to the persecuted people here in the US. So, once again, congrats on helping trump.
CoarseAndSalty
Factually, at this point. No, you're dead wrong. Joe Biden is enabling a holocaust in Palestine. If he can't swallow that for the sake of voting against Trump then he's not helping trump. The lazy allowance of a two-party system to dominate our democracy is helping Trump. And if you're just shrugging and allowing it to continue then YOU are helping Trump. Nobody owes you their vote. That's not how a fucking democracy works.
thegringointhenorth
If there is no atrocity the democrats can lay their hands on that won't lose them your vote (and if ethnic cleansing isn't a big enough one, then there isn't - there is literally no moral principle you won't abandon over your status-quo tribalism) they will continue to be complicit in atrocities indefinitely. By getting stuck in the "better than the alternative!" heuristic you have ceded the entirety of your democratic power or will to change anything.
Badprenup
And be doing that, you're enabling multiple genocides. If Trump gets elected then the genocide of Palestinians is accelerated and it becomes incredibly likely that an LGBTQ-focused genocide starts in the USA. And what little help to Ukraine dries up too and Russia is able to continue to murder them and do better at it.
Congratulations on choosing the option that makes more genocide happen you complete and utter moron.
ILikeToCallItLostWages
That phrase "the genocide is accelerated" is such a heavy phrase because it acknowledges that it's currently happening under the current regime with our current support and we're just meant to support that in fear that the thing that's happening will...happen more?
thegringointhenorth
Not voting for Trump either, good luck with your mass murderer popularity contest though.
IPoisonedDorcasMutton
Not voting for anyone is a de facto vote for Trump. To quote Rush, if you choose not to decide then you still have made a choice. I'm glad you have the fucking privilege to be able to choose not to vote. As a trans girl, I fucking don't.
thegringointhenorth
If there's only one real choice (between not voting and voting for the least worst option) then the open threat of not voting with clear conditions is the ONLY way the average person can exercise collective political power. No person, ANY person, red or blue, will receive my vote if they enable genocide, imperialism and global horror. The same stands for the oppression of LGBT people. I make sure that anyone who represents me knows this. You ought to do the same.
SavageDrums
So, you're passively voting for Tr*mp then. That's a distinction without a difference.
whoknowsanymorelol
yet your actions are helping him. So you are choosing the more genocide option. Congratulations!
thegringointhenorth
No they're not. If you want to run off that logic, why aren't you out there with a gun trying to find and shoot Trump right now? Isn't your inaction helping him?
I'm not being bullied into participating in a system that hates me and everyone I have ever loved, I will continue to fight at the grassroots for actual change rather than superficially passing the buck between two different tribes of ghoulish corporate puppets. You can keep voting for 20 years and wonder why your life still sucks.
