I would not say these are indisputably only good proposals. I can see downsides to several of these. The speed up housing sounds...iffy. Speeding up city contracting? Errhm....There are plenty of good reasons why the law and the government is slow.
How’s that been working out so far? Trying things and making adjustments quickly is a great approach. Yes there’s benefits to being thorough and thoughtful - such as with disruptive technology like AI or destructive measures like drilling or climate. In some cases like homelessness, too much time has real downside like people suffering or the problem shifting while you’re trying to take your time.
Besides the obvious positive impact, he's reeeeaaaally good at this. Complicated, dry issues, presented in a short, sympathetic, easy video in a charismatic way. Being a politician is a craft like many others, and Mamdani excels at it.
In a world... where there are thousands of cities, but only one Zohran Mamdani. There's only... he can't be mayor of more than one city at a time. Get ready to Zohran down your Mamdanis.
In a world where there’s only eight Jan Michael Vincents, and 16 quadrants, there’s only enough time for a Jan Michael Vincent to make it to a quadrant. He can’t be in two quadrants at once.
Yeah, especially people born this century don't quite get how cancerous trump has always festered in American pop culture. Read literally any Doonesbury or Opus collection from the 70s/80s, he'll be there sooner or later.
He is awesome and america needs more people like him. BUT I will have to say Fast does NOT mean efficient. or Fair or Just. Just be careful how far you go
Yeah, Robert Moses knew all about "fast". Much of what the city is facing stems from the pendulum swing the other direction once people realized just how bad that was. I'm confident Mamdani isn't suggesting a return to those days.
No. That’s rather the point. “Fast” and “efficient” aren’t synonyms, any more than “slow” and “efficient” are. Efficiency is about getting good results with the resources used, not simply doing things quickly.
Efficient is by definition the fastest way to do something. If you do it wrong, you're not being efficient, because you're creating more work. Efficiency is about doing something correctly with the least amount of steps required to do so. That's what the word means.
It's not semantics. Efficiency is inherently about getting something done using the least amount of resources, effort and time. You can't simply choose to extract time from efficiency and isolate it to suit the definition you want to create. Time is inextricably part of the process in determining maximum efficiency. The fastest way to do something correctly is the most efficient.
IMO we don't need Mamdani as president, we need people with policies LIKE Mamdani as president. You could run... www.runforsomething.net But keep in mind that Mamdani didn't start by running for mayor And we need to encourage & support people to run for office, especially those trying to help people; I think DSA is a thing, I haven't looked into it yet
That would be too easy for them to disqualify him, you have other very good candidates in the US to replace tRump. The leftest the better, IMO, fuck AIPAC and corporate candidates !

This guy demonstrates that it’s possible, when a thousand men and women of good faith try it on their own we have a new normal.
clonedeeznuts
It's so refreshing mainly because he's not an old wyt guy on his 35th term

I like that he is using the ballot as a means to ask people questions, and give options for what the people as a whole want

Yes every state needs this!

Hey, it's Stringfellow Hawke!
Clockworkdancerobot
Want more like him? Get involved in local politics if you can. Start local. Mamdani didn't start running for Mayor.

awkungen42
Vote for progressives if you want more like him. Not AIPAC sellout liberals and conservatives.
AnOceanOfStars
Or make a cult for sociopath idiots and run directly for presidency, apparently that works too.
ToSisPoS
You have to build up a cult of personality around him since the 80s where he is essentially ubiquitous without any substance.
madflenser

ToSisPoS
And WWF and Fox Network presenting him as the Everyman billionaire.
WarlockSniper
Or the Central Park 5 where he kept calling for them to be executed despite being declared innocent in court.
madflenser
That one always confused me how obviously racist it was, and no one seemed to care

Fuck mayor. I want him as President. Mam Mamdani 2028!
AmaraDela
Sorry bout the extra mam. Phone took issue with his name and I didn't see it wasn't deleted before posting.
IntelligentLake
So you're saying... you were a bit fast?
HashMaster9k
Mam…mam…mam…MAMDANI 2028!
Foolhardyspider
Unfortunately I don't think he qualifies right? Please Correct me if I'm wrong, I don't really understand American elections
SavageDrums
Laws stopped mattering a while ago.
AmaraDela
Unfortunately not. He was born in Uganda so the second requirement of being a natural born citizen isn't met.
SirButcher
Yeah, because we've seen how much the US Constitution means at this point.
Foolhardyspider
Bugger. He would have made for a good one as far as I can tell
RooGryphon
At this point I dont care where they are born. I just want someone with intelligence and educated. Who also is not pushing 80 years of age
