I found a 20 while doing my laundry mother fucker
SquashDemon
Oh is it happening? That'd be funny.
Zetor
I hope the bank is worried about his loans collateral.

Can one plumb the depths with just one plummet, or are more leaden steps required?
cfnorg
So is he the guy now, that lost the most amount of money ever?

slopwizard
I will sue the 401k if they have any exposure to SpaceX
monkeyfly
I won't be satisfied until he's applying for the welfare programs he tried to destroy.
SavageDrums
He'll never be poor, he'll never have to live like a poor person, and that sucks.
philmoregraves
What are you guys hedging the low to be? Im seeing ppl guess anywhere from 70-85 per
Eldibs
So what you're saying is that in a few weeks I have earned billions of dollars more than Elon Musk did?
khora
No, this is valuation, not money. People keep conflating them. His valuation is up $89.7 billions so far this year.
AdroitCudgel
as predicted...

Maraxus
He never had this money to begin with. This was not real money. Now, all money is fake, we invented it, but some is less fake then others. This money, is the fakest: He invented it, in order to exchange some of it for less fake money, and now that we noticed how fake it is and delete it, the part, that he has already exchanged for proper money is a net win for him. If this sounds a lot like fraud, then because you need to study lots of law to understand, why this was not fraud (Cause he is rich)
Sebastopol140
Womp, womp!
Centroid
Last week I was thinking about saying fuck it and cashing out my 401k, now I kinda wish I had.
GuysJustWannaFish
He "lost" money he never had on an asset that is still probably valued more than its really worth, and still has more money than most countries? Oh that poor poor man!
JeaPi
I don't understand people buying Tesla in 2026
hockey4mal8
Isn't it soon to be wrapped into everyone's 401k so it can be propped up NY the masses? You know socialize the losses until he can privatize the gains?
DancingPanther
Shit like this is why you need to go in and select your ETFs to invest in for your 401k. I have mine split into emerging markets 40%, bonds 10%, my targeted 2065 fund 20%, and a 2 other domestic funds each at 15% that I made sure weren't overly top heavy/s+p heavy. Obviously there is some investment into things like Tesla, but some funds will invest at like 5-8%. Couldn't recommend enough for everyone to start checking into that. It's usually quite easy.
ConspiratorM
I've got all mine in some managed funds with target retirement years. Of late I'm down a bit, but still up around 8% YTD. Anybody who sees their 401k plummeting because of one stock dropping is doing something wrong.
DancingPanther
Nice dude! I tell everyone to take a look at the top holdings and try to diversify. It's just good investment hygiene and like I said- really easy to do
CallMeMcGyver
Good... I hope he plummets too... off of something very tall.
ongabonga
Idontneedrealfacts
he didnt lose anything. his pretend points went up in pretend land and then pretended to come back down to reasonable pretend on its way to pretending its not pretent
BreadGoneBad
I see what the parents of the journalist writing this piece did there.
D. Liverance
Sandwyrm2
Looks like he was goaded into it by his creditors, who got their money back at the IPO. They took him for a ride, and he deserves all the fail.
khora
He’s up $89.7 billions this year.

kahooki
Less!
JamesFaction
Yes! He should have more less!
MedicallyUnfunny
Seemed pretty obvious to me you were saying Elon should have “Less!” money. Not that he shouldn’t lose more. Not sure why you’re getting the downvotes.
kahooki
Correct, my friend.
I assume quick impulsive reactions are the status quo.
That's ok.
One understood - I'm perfectly fine with that. ;-)
Have a good time.
BackPackJohniee
It's a good start, but I won't be happy until he's lost it all.
khora
He is up so far this year.
Eldibs
Unfortunately, short of being locked away permanently or some other sort of permanent solution happening to him, he will never be completely broke. Morons will still pay for him to show up at events, after all.
awkungen42
He should be the first in line at the guillotine ride for trying to fuck an entire country over install fascism. If we manage to stave it off that is.
DustInComp
make him the first person to be a trillion in debt
Flakbadger
I mean this happened on purpose, they already cashed out as people bought into the stocks. This was a way to clear out that Twitter debt and pay himself back, hence why SpaceX bought Twitter right before the IPO.
BeatriceAine
Good thing Wall Street broke it's own rules and fast tracked SpaceX being fast tracked into NASDAQ and therefore into people's 401ks so the losses could be socialized or his losses would be worse.
Imadethisaccounttopost
Go for broke! I want to see him destitute!
080080
he hasn't lost anything. it's $650 billion on paper. he still owns the same amount of shares.
DukeSliscus
same
getadogupya
It's good to dream, but it'll never happen.
Junktrunkjunkie
It could, he leveraged margin debt to buy twitter. If the underlying assets devalue to the point they will no longer cover the minimum value required to cover the debt the debtors have the power to liquidate his securities immediately and without his consent to cover the debt. So depending on how recklessly he relied on margin for that purpose he could lose all of his liquid assets and become insolvent
getadogupya
Sure. And he still wouldn't be out on the street, living out of his cybertruck, like we would if we fucked up.
AnimalRescueGuy
Time to devalue the currency ourselves. Sigh. Hold my sugar-free soda.
MothMonsterMan
Including his life
SecondSince
ESPECIALLY his life!
reurra
Im actually he lives his end just like Tesla. In poverty and obscurity.

Especially*
PithyCommentBelow
I’d prefer him alive and penniless. These motherfuckers need to experience the FO part.
jojoyojimbi
actually some of his kids are decent human beings and would probably do a lot of good with his money so let him die as fast as possible and leave as much as he can to them so they can start doing the opposite of the shit he did
yamsonyamsonyams
I dunno I’d be ok with him being eaten by wolves
TheTojo15
Can we compromise? He gets his genitals and legs ripped to shreds by the wolves AFTER he’s destitute and can’t afford proper medical care and dies of septic shock from his injuries
yamsonyamsonyams
Slonato
Nah, the world would be better without certain people in it. The money used to house Elon could be better spent.

So not a trillionaire anymore.
WestOfTheM00n
Never was. It's all speculative wealth that never has, or will, exist. Ol' musky is something akin to a really shitty tooth fairy.
PFMAz
Is that true? I have no clue. And his other assets?
TiptoeThroughTheMeanies
Yes, its true. He still has high billions, but he was only a trillionaire for about two weeks.
huffnpuff72
He wasn't truly a trillionaire, it was all smoke and mirrors designed to make him appear that wealthy for likes.
GeneralAnubis
The entirety of the stock market, in a nutshell
ydwyrd
Yeah, he basically just overvalued his stocks and convinced a few dipshits on Wall Street that they were worth a trillion dollars. Another in a long list of "obvious bullshit he's spinning because he thinks it will make him look cool (it won't)".
TiptoeThroughTheMeanies
Which is why SpaceX dropped more than 30% from their post-IPO peak, and took him below trillionaire status.
DukeDarkwood
Two weeks? I thought it started falling instantly; I'd have bet he wasn't even a trillionaire for two DAYS.
TiptoeThroughTheMeanies
Investments in SpaceX in the first 11 days were pretty intense. Then a 16% drop in one day started the spiral downward.
DukeDarkwood
Ah. Thanks.
While I normally follow up any "news" I learn on imgur with looking for actual sources, I have to admit that I don't really *care* about Elon's finances enough to put that effort in. (His malign actions? Yes, of course. His finances? No.)
