Can an elephant expert explain what the meaning is of the sounds they're making? Are they trying to add to the music? Are they laughing? Are they mad? Are they trying to mimic him?

Not an expert, but there are multiple reasons why an elephant trumpets like that, but usually, they are communicating with their herd. Could be excitement, or distress. It could be "Check this out gang" it could be "I've heard this one before, it's safe"

Went down a rabbit hole after watching one of these vids trying to figure out if science has confirmed whether or not animals 'like' human music and the short answer is "of those that can even make sense of it, maybe?" but only animals with complex vocalization can do it and there doesn't seem to be a solid evolutionary path for having that trait (e.g. chimps have it, but orangutans and Gorillaz don't)

I don't know if they interpret music like we do, but it is definitely clear they understand the calm and peaceful atmosphere that music and the guy playing it were conveying. Fascinating stuff.

I like some of the very small details between the adult and baby elephants, especially when they are all rushing over to see what it is they are hearing. It looks like the adult elephant is using very quick trunk movements reminding the baby "Hey, slow down, keep the same distance as everyone else."

And yet zoos around the world provide enrichment for their elephants which involves people playing musical instruments. There are plenty of videos on social media demonstrating this. Two things 1) not all stress is bad stress 2) reading body language is notoriously tricky even in humans because we can read too much into isolated behaviours. eg the line formation is also the only way all these animals can get a good look. Threatened elephants also don't bring their babies into a defensive attack.

I really doubt it is. Yes, there are plenty of cuts and no take longer than 16 seconds, but the various details seem to stay extremely consistent between cuts, which is not something I've yet seen AI manage.

If it helps, herd animals like sheep and cows do basically the same thing if someone were to sit on the opposite side of the fence and play or sing - not much fun stuff happens on the day-to-day so usually everyone has to come and check out The New Thing :]
