I love Facebook Marketplace, insane speed difference with the plastic body shell vs without it
Sadly it only came with one car, the brand is from a company called "Life Like"

We used to make cars for the tracks, load of fun but trashed many of the prototypes... went too fast for the corners.
Lugh314159
I had a set like that as a kid.... if you turned it up to fast, it flew the F off the track and across the room. I used to prop on end up the track up with some binders to see how far I could launch the thing!

40 fucking years...

Shout out to the kind of person who would put a treasure like this on marketplace for $10 so that it can get out of storage and give someone else some joy
Acc87
If they are like me, they just thought "throwing this away is a hassle, maybe someone can make use of this." I put something on Ebay last year of which I vastly underestimated the price lol, had twenty people call in half an hour after posting, one drove two hours to get it.
PutThePRNDLinD
With only one car, OP comes in both first, and last, in every race.
Pokegeologist
Life-Like and Tyco made tons of stuff for these sets (and lots of train stuff too). Shouldn't be too hard to find extra cars and accessories on eBay.
TooSoonOldTooLateSmart
I still have my Aurora set. The cars may be interchangeable, but the track pieces are not.
martitaelenita
I, too, love FB Marketplace (hate meta). I’ve managed to furnish my entire little house with the coolest vintage shit from there
Xenarion
Lucky you!

I can smell the ozone.

blockmaniac110
I was gonna say the same damn thing….I can smell that pic through my phone
TheUnnamedPoet
LifeLike was one of the smaller brands in slot cars IIRC. I had some LifeLike tracks and a couple of their cars back in the 90s.
Lulabel73
40 years? Way off the 80s were only 20 years ago.
nero4ty2
Just went to a slot car birthday party, 5-10 year old kids were going crazy for it, chicagoland raceway if anyone is in the western burbs
HollerinAtTheVoid
I could get some great distance on turns 1, 4 or 5

The drywalls always got a beating!

Growing up we had one that had magnets on the track and you could build the track to go up the wall and upside down.

Oh man. The memories. I had this exact kit when I was a kid and it was GLORIOUS!

Mind didn't have that spiral but it did have those conrolers.
MuffyTheHamburgerSlayer
Life Like was mostly known for model railroad stuff (buildings, scenery, figurines, and some rolling stock). Their HQ was in my home town of Baltimore.
Pokegeologist
My first train set was Life-Like. Felt like a coming of age thing when Dad set up a 4x8 train table his friend made and I got my first Athearn locomotive around 7.
ShadowbannedForNoReason
Great fun for cats, too
tater1337
Google life like track set to find a forum to get more cars and such
chufly
We do them as parties www.mobilegamingevents.com/gallery

Oh, damn. Hit me right in the nostalgias.
PlumbingPredator
Only reason I got Facebook is for the marketplace.
TooSoonOldTooLateSmart
In the second video, the car is often invisible.
Emiloo74
So jealous right now! Hope you have a blast with it.
ottercontrol
Now what you do if get a table or something you can put it on, like a piece of plywood and 2 saw horses, like you would do from the 80s, and you start dressing it up with fake grass, trees and grand stands. get that immersion going
LurkMcgurt
Running it on carpet can burn it up

Bruce, why do you always choose the batmobile?
ScottimusPrime
There was a slot car track/store near me that had a track very similar to this with 4 lanes. I loved that place!
SofaH3ro
My buddy's dad ran a shop in NJ that had I think a 6 lane where they would do race events and such. Not many left catering to the hobby.
ScottimusPrime
Sounds like a pretty cool place!
aguacatedeldiablo
Lol, is that batman?
cactuskid1956
Nope, Bruce Wayne
dposton70
The very same, chum!
davemUnderscoreOr
Back when Batman was fun and not the dark, moody fucker he is today.
