You have a similar problem in Whistler British Columbia Australia day. The bars the liquor stores the off sales place all run out of the decent beer and all that's left are these weird light beers that nobody wants.
Please note: The beer you find in the cooler at 7-11 is considered water by Scots. And Irish. And Brits. Pretty much that whole Europe area of the world. Your Coors and Bud and Busch and Pabst and Miller are in full and steady supply, rest assured.
More power to them. I can't stand the taste of any beer. Tried a bunch. Every time I was assured this would be the one that would do it. It never was:) Finally learned to just embrace the fact and learned some people get irritated at parties if you aren't drinking beer.
Bostonian here. The Stadium is at Foxborough this bar is in Boston. That is a 45 minute drive. There are SO MANY BARS just between the 2 you would think they could go to the next one and drink them dry. What I want to know is WHY Travel that far?!
Not really bad logistics. I work for the beer distributor in Boston. Our struggles are that the Scottish are drinking way more than our best predictions and we simply don't have enough delivery workers. We have delivering at capacity for 10 straight days, and selling 30% more beer this time vs. Last year. It's unprecedented!
Lol, dude, there's so many Scotts here. Of course, from what I hear, the locals ain't complaining. Apparently people like the Scotts. People have even been saying we should extend the commuter rail to Glasgow
Certainly bad logistics, but also a lot of confusion with the world cup since the stadium isn't really near Boston, tickets are still for sale for a bunch of games, I also read that hotel bookings weren't as full as expected, so hard to judge it all. In my experience the mix of people in Boston drink a lot of wine and cocktails, I imagine the Scots are focused purely on the beer. That and kitchens generally close at 10pm and the transit system closes up pretty early too, tends to limit drinking
also, a lot of bars don't plan for how large the WC is getting within the USA. I saw local bars realize they should quit drink specials last WC because when 100s of people want to use them, it quit being economical to keep them running like $2 Two Hearted IPA (which I got pulled by turning Argentinan fans onto it so we drank it all)
Also from a couple of these videos I have seen they are talking about specific beers. Or even like that one where they said 'they only had bud' they still had beer, just not the beers the fans wanted to drink. Which as someone who is not a fan of IPAs or beer like bud, it can be tricky in some boston spots just generally.
I was originally going to write 'garbage beer' but I wanted to make it clear. I mean any beer that doesn't follow the Reinheitsgebot is already not beer in my mind but things that aren't beer can still be enjoyed, however I do not enjoy drinking bud and similar.
Oh and the bars are open an hour later than they normally are, with them having no idea what business will be in this new magical hour, so I am not entirely surprised, but now they know, so they should be prepped for the coming weeks.
dude, learn to be happy. Especially in the small things. Don't let your mind constantly be overshadowed with the overwhelming things out of your control. It's not healthy, you'll never be happy like that. Do what you can, that's all you can do. For everything else, find the little joys to be happy about. This is a funny little happy story. Ppl having beers and fun and fellowship (not in a religious way) is something to smile about, come on...
Yano what i needed this reminder today. I cant keep letting anger or disdain control shit every day. I mean i wont say I disagree with the commenters statement, but that the same time I shouldn't let that take away from this being a happy fun, and funny little situation
Very often, both are true. It can be a shitty fascist country with a lot of problems AND have its moments of unity and beers and laughs. Our parents probably did their best AND seriously fucked us up as kids. "Kids nowadays" can be completely inept/insufferable AND wildly creative and resilient. Humans are assholes AND empathetic. What YOU decide to focus on will tip the scales of your mindset one way or another.
The mantra "it's out of our control" is the killer though. It's never true. The mantra is making it true, and the longer it endures the harder it is to reverse it
I know what you mean, and I know your intention is to empower by reminding us we do have control, but there definitely ARE things out of our control. There are things within our control, things we have some influence, and some things out of our control. The behavior of others is out of our control. And our inability to let go of the things out of our control will cause suffering. Do what you can. No matter how small, do what you can. Let go of the rest. You did what you could, let it go 🫂
I'm sorry, I wasn't aware you're suffering from depression. In that case, your brain may be unable to find the little joys in life to focus on, and even if you do, might not be able to feel the joy anyway. I can only encourage you to consult your doctor about your medication because it might need to be adjusted (based on the brief interaction I've had with you, it seems... bad?) or be coupled with more cognitive based therapy. I'd also HIGHLY recommend getting off imgur completely, or -
- or at least reflect on if imgur is truly serving a purpose for you, filling a need, or creating joy in your life. Usually social media and depression don't mix well. I was on social media 4hrs a day on average when I attempted suicide two years ago. Getting off it completely did help me, and then slowly coming back with more reflection on how it can best serve me helped a bit. I'm sorry you're dealing with such a difficult time 🫂 the road to happiness is a bitch. Best of luck to you.
