Ren and Stimpy shouldn’t be glorified. The creator was a pedo and a predator. He and his work should be forgotten.

5 days ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Incorrect. He should be called out on his bullshit, but who he is or what he did didn't influence the show, or impact the thousands and thousands of people who have fond memories of it growing up. 99.9% of the people who watched it have no idea who this person is, nor do they care. They just remember the show, and how it made them laugh as a kid. Don't take that away from them.

#1 Let's be honest, you liked them from the beginning. Otherwise you'd watch My Little Pony or Alvin and the Chipmunks idk. You chose Ren & Stimpy. Something was already wrong with you and that's okay.

I honestly hated Ren and Stimpy. Gross humour was never my thing. But I enjoyed Billy and Mandy (when Billy wasn't being gross)

6 days ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 2

I loved Mandy.

Thank God another person who hated this show. I only watched it and Rocko's modern life when I couldn't find ANYTHING else to watch

There are dozens of us!

5 days ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

I mean as a child you don’t really question that much what you’re watching right?

6 days ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 3

I vividly remember having a strong taste. I didn't like Pink Panther, but I did like Addams, for example.

6 days ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Children are smarter than you think. As a child you do question things, it's part of development. That's why you have children who ask "rude" questions. For example: "Why does your aunt Meg have a big belly?", "Oh it's because she's pregnant!" It's because they're curious but doesn't quite understand societal norms yet. You do this even as a child watching shows. "Woah, cool, i like the colors!" Or "haha i like this show, that character is funny!" These two are more indirect examples.

6 days ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Good examples and thanks for sharing your view. TV isn’t as big in terms of quantities compared to the US so I can only speak about Germany and some other European countries where I got family. I’ve just rarely ever seen a kid (younger let’s say 4-7) “nah turn this off I don’t like this show/film” and it feels like all screens seem to have a very magnetic pull for them rather watching along any show than no show if that makes sense. Now this conversation made me curious enough to do some

6 days ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

research later on when I am back home. If you already got some studies or articles I’d appreciate it. Kudos

uh, MLP wasn't a show until 2010. Ren and stimpy was wayyyyy before that. You are correct though, something was always wrong with us :D

6 days ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 15

~2010 was like... 4th generation of the show or something. "MLP: Friendship is Magic". MLP is older than R&S, I specifically checked (1991) because I didn't watch this weird-ass shit

6 days ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 1

See this is very strange to me because I never saw mlp on TV when I was a kid. Even Google failed to mention any shows prior to friendship is magic when I looked it up. I knew mlp was a thing long ago but I thought it was just toys.

6 days ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

I don't think anyone is interested in the old show anymore, so I suppose Google stopped serving relevant results anywhere near the top. It was targeted to a very young audience, younger than R&S for sure. Now there's new stuff that Bluey it out of the water

6 days ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

The first animated series started in 1986, I remember seeing it as a kid in the 90s. Might have been reruns but a lot of stuff arrived late here anyways.

6 days ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 1

That's crazy I never saw a single my little pony rerun during my childhood. Even Google lied to me and insinuated it was just toys. Either way, the mlp that really started making weirdos was the 2010 version well after the days of Ren and simply, rocko's modern life, Beavis and Butthead... Etc

6 days ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 3

So, here’s the thing, kids shows and cartoons in the 80s were just that, for kids. There was nothing in them for the parents, no jokes or visuals that go over kids heads, just kid stuff. Then Disney had Robin Williams voice the genie in Aladdin, it was the first time my parents enjoyed the kids movie, I remember how much they liked it. ½

6 days ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

After Aladdin’s crazy success, western cartoons changed, there was a new formula, kids don’t have money, but their parents do. Also, Ren and Stimpy, Rocco, those were late night cartoons you’d watch at sleepovers but you had to change the channel quick when a parent came in because they didn’t like that trash. Then you discovered anime and realise that Japan has been doing cartoons for grown ups for years, though you have to go to strange little shops downtown to get it. Ah, the 90s

#8 a horse, a cow, and a chicken were best friends. They would hang out with each other all day on the farm. One day the farmer had a dance with a live band and the horse was fascinated. So he called up the local music store and said "hey I want to learn to play guitar but I'm a horse." And the shop owner said "come on down, we've got all kinds of adapters for everyone. I can teach you to play guitar." So the horse went down and learned to play guitar. He came back with his guitar and showed

off to his friends. The cow said "I have to get in on this" and called The music store. She said "hey you just taught my friend to the horse how to play guitar, is it possible you can teach me to play the bass?" And the store owner said "absolutely I can teach you how to play the bass." So the cow goes and learns how to play the bass and brings it back to the farm and she and the horse start jamming together. So the chicken realizes he needs to get in on this. So he calls the music store

and says "hey I'm a chicken, but can you teach me how to play the drums?" And the owner says "if I can teach a horse to play the guitar and a cow to play the bass, I can teach a chicken how to play the drums." So the chicken goes and learns how to play the drums and brings them back to the farm and they all form a band together. The Farmer here is them and realizes that they are all really good so he calls an agent and they all get contracts and a world tour scheduled. But right before the tour,

the horse's mom gets sick. The cow and the chicken tell him that they will go on ahead and get everything ready for the first show, and the horse can stay behind to take care of his mom. But then there's a plane crash and the cow and the chicken die. And then the horse's mother dies. In less than a week, the horse has lost his mother, his best friends, and his chance at music stardom. He's despondent. He's wandering around town not knowing what to do. He sees a bar and decides he needs a drink.

So the horse walks into the bar, and the bartender looks up and says "why the long face?"
