If they made that into a working mp3 player... I would use it.

It really whips the llama's ass

6 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

There's so much bloated trash with most music players. Amazon's abortion of a player is eye cancer. Winamp is perfect for "play my 1/2

6 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

2/2 fuckin songs and don't eat up my ram/look for updates/show ads."

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

It still just works.

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I used to torture PCs with the default visualizer. So worth it.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Damn Winamp, my all time favorite

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Wow, this takes me back. I moved on to VLC long ago though.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

This still around i like to take another crack at making my own visualizers

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Didnt these guys go to joil for animal abuse?

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Foobar20000 is really good too.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I would purchase this over my next phone, tablet, computer or iPod.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

v5.666 build 3516 still kickin' ass in 2020!

6 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Ypu know they recently released 5.8 and sopposedly 6.0 is coming.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That's cool - but it looks like its been stuck in beta for 2 yrs now - dev ran out of steam/$$ - will stick with stable version till final.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Damn... That was 2018... I miss 2018 so much.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Hold up. This seems actually MAKEABLE in 2020. Bottom screen just the 8" RasPi touch display, middle with real sliders 1/

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

in the middle with a printed background, top could have real buttons + number LCD + motorized slider. Have it all running off a RasPi.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

No way it'd end up that thin, but you'd still be able to keep the tri-fold design!

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I feel old

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Can you.... Can you explain it for a youngster?

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Damn I would love a portable mp3 player that looks like that

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Winamp 3.78c reporting in. Have a global hotkey plugin that goes over any game or program. Absolutely love it.

6 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

Yeah, wasn't a fan of the bloatiness of version 5.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It slimmed down again for 5.666

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I just got 2.95, might try that version.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Bah. Typo - 2.78c not 3. Sorry. We are basically running the same version.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Guess that's why I couldn't find 3.78c lol. Yeah, I like old school winamp the best.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I've got a plugin that speaker fills to 5.1 (or 7.1 if you have it). My keyboard has the forward/back/play/pause buttons.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

I've used this since before keyboards had volume controls. In Vanilla WoW and CS 1.5 so I didn't have to alt-tab to change songs.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

There were logitech keyboards with volume control at the time. I guess I was 1337 :)

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Ya the G10. I still have my G15.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Me too. I've taken the keys off and cleaned it completely so many times. Back when I smoked weed, I used to be able to find a joint in it.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Searching for Winamp skins was the shit

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Still use. Ain't broke, dont fix.

6 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

so happy to know people still use it. I thought I was alone, I have a family

6 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

There's dozens of us.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I miss Winamp. I mean, I still use it. Just miss some updates.

Not gonna lie- If this was real, id buy the shit out of it.

6 years ago | Likes 95 Dislikes 0

1TB SSD is $175. You sync all your apple, amazon, spotify playlists into it. Add a battery to it. Some design and you got a winamp player

6 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

If I didn't suck at design, I could see a 3D print job, some of those oled thin screens, suface mini switches, and a Pi Zero made into one

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Kickstarter time?

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It’s called a tablet

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 11

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

a electronic device with tactile buttons and solely used for using the winamp program folding in 2 spots is called a tablet?

6 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

Just saying, the way it folds it wouldn't last very long. Those buttons and sliders are all raised, closing it would damage/activate buttons.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

I google image 'tablet' and none of them look remotely like that. Must be a bug or something

6 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Geeze chill bruh

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 4

Can’t take a joke in response to your joke?

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Agree. I've seen this before and every time I see it I think "I want one."

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 9

6 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

The PIP Boy. Nice, that's a classic.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

6 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 2

I'm giving you an upvote because you have 'Ace of Base' in there.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Go easy on me. It's my "pop" directory.

6 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

That is a lot of songs if that number on the left is a total count

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It goes up to 6272. I have most of them on CD and ripped them myself with EAC and lame encoding.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

I have maybe 10 CDs, and 30 other music files as MP3s. That sounds insane, and now I know what my Steam library must be like for others.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Myself I only own maybe a dozen physical CDs, however currently I have 162812 files loaded into one playlist, mostly lossless ;)

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Classic is still the best skin though.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

yeah and with plugins it's was dope

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Wait. Wait. Wait. . . WINAMP IS STILL A THING? HOW THE FUCK DID I NOT KNOW THIS?

6 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 2

Cause you ain’t a real one

6 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

it hasnt updated in a long time but its still "technically" alive. you can download the latest version at winamp.com, but theres some bugs >

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yeah, like.. I can't queue up songs on 5.8. It's a little annoying.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

so id recommend googling for version 5.666, which is the last version from the original creators

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Heres mine:

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I used to have that one! Came in a low variation of colours. Wow that was ages ago...

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I always use that colour scheme as well :)

I got Iphaistos

6 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

I just asked my partner the other day... "Hey... do you remember WinAMP?"

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Winamp is still the best player .. if you still actually keep music on your PC.

6 years ago | Likes 160 Dislikes 3

Foobar2000

6 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

Foobar is the greatest!

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I liked winamp until Foobar2000 came along. Tons of added utility and can convert audio files in mass.

6 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

It really whips the llamas ass

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It really whips the llama's ass!

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

I mean, it's on a NAS that I am stream anywhere, so.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I hated the UI and still do. This is a computer screen I use with a mouse and a keyboard. Why does my app look like a stereo set?

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 3

I have a 21" monitor, why can't I scale this music player to fill the whole screen?

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 3

Why on earth would you want to scale a music player to fill a window? How exciting do you think watching it is going to be?

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Msybe to look at my song list? Maybe change the font size so I can see shit? Check your ableism.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

Playlist can be expanded.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Font size can be changed (though is a pain). You don't need to scale to fill a window to do it. Check your whiny bitch response.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Like, do people not do that anymore?

6 years ago | Likes 34 Dislikes 0

I've got about 60 gigs, and I'm not about to pay multiple times for the same song on yet another service that might drop the artist tomorrow

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I kept moving a 40gb hard drive that had all my mp3s every time I built a new pc until I got a 1tb external drive for that and scratch files

6 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

I feel bad, about a year ago I found a tool that scans your MP3s and likes all the songs on Spotify. Haven't used my MP3s since :(

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I've got most of my vinyl records as digital copies, and back when I did DJ gigs with digital I had to buy digital downloads of my music.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Nowadays there are streaming plans for DJs as well. I rarely listen to my mp3s since it's just so much easier to stream on any device.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Spotification of music publication, alas. Why go to your immobile PC when your mobile device suffices? I like hard copies, myself.

6 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

I like that most new releases you can get a vinyl & it comes with a download code for high birate mp3s & wavs of the album. Best of both!

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I often drive places without cell signal. What the hell am I gonna stream out there? Then again, water's a nice stream I suppose.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Download a 500 song playlist before you go? I mean streaming services let you do this.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Lots of people have gone to streaming only. Personally i like my music in folders with backups and not online.

6 years ago | Likes 49 Dislikes 0

Same here with owning music, and I use Plex to access them wherever I want online.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

don't trust the cloud. cloud is asshoe.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

How do you get those files though? Do you buy cds?

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

LimeWire Duh

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

To be honest, 90% is from DC++. The rest is from CD's or bought. DC++ has been working for me for over 15 years.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

What's a DC++ ?

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Personally I'd love to do that. but I don't have a lot of physical copies of music other than vinyl and don't know any good sites to get 1/2

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I think this is the problem, kids these days are too dumb and lazy to figure it out, it is actually super easy which is the saddest part

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Thanks for the useful comment. Just trying to get some help.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

music from that won't kill my computer or cause my isp to fuck me over for piracy

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Also its supper comvinient to go anywhere and have the same music

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I like having copies on my computer. Streaming services come and go. Same with tv shows and movies. I use netflix and amazon, but any day

6 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

my favorite stuff can disappear, so I have backups.

6 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Same here. Movies and TV shows i don't really care about. But my music is with me for life. Got a couple of external SSD's for backups.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I like to have access on all my devices & to a huge library so do streaming, but I get the point of having your own files.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

24 GB, mp3s only, synced between all my devices by using onedrive, no problem.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

There's also streams or radio stations as we used to call them last century

6 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Soma FM streamed thru Winamp and I now subscribe to it. Awesome

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I always end up using winamp on my computer.

6 years ago | Likes 321 Dislikes 2

I still have a license, damn it. I'm using it!

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I still do.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I always used winamp on my lama. It always whooped its ass.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Milk Drop visualization

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

You say that like it's not the default.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I use foobar2000. WinAmp is great and all, and I used it for many years. But compared to llama whipping, I prefer the pristine sound quality

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I like you.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Well where else are you gonna use it, outside of your computer?

6 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Well there was a plug and go version, WinAMP lite which was meant to play off a usb thumb drive.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

There used to be an android ver of it iirc

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I mean, technically phones are computers.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I looked a couple days ago because Google Play is ending & it's the only player on the pixel.. couldn't find it. Also don't know what to use

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Still got love for winamp. The one I like best on Android is Rocketplayer a unique interface in a world of itunes clones.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

If it wasnt for Spotify id still use it.

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Huh thats cool

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Wait, spotify plays mp3s on your PC?

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You can add "local file" directories yes. With premium it will even upload/download it to your phone.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yep, I still run it! I'm thinking a physical device like this rendering would be sweet though!

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Well, it really whips the llama's ass

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Is there anything better?

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I use AIMP instead, pretty much the same but with a different UI

6 years ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 0

You can still grab old versions of it. I have 5.6 installed.

6 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

6 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Does it *really* whip the llama's ass?

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

How

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

TL;DR AOL only wanted Winamp for the user base to sell them AOL. Winamp team wanted to make it iTunes before iTunes existed. AOL said no.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yup I always download version 2.95

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0
