Having grown up in California, I'm familiar with being in drought only for rain to suddenly come in violently, and it's a problem of its own.

This storm is going to end up being beneficial to Puerto Rico, they're in the middle of a drought and this will deliver much needed rain with no more than a thunderstorm. Hopefully it stalls and becomes drenching, but not flooding rain.
