Universe expanding is currently in question due to recent findings. F*ck yeah , Science! https://www.space.com/universe-expansion-could-be-a-mirage

(Maths is not a language, and it's only "universal" in a very narrow sense)

And let’s add to this, the 2020 election was not stolen; despite Trumps best efforts to. Trump was found guilty of sedition and Insurrection per a Colorado court and thus legally is barred from running for president in the state. Fetuses are not people. Trans rights are human rights. And advocating for human rights is not “being political” any more than supporting the status quo is.

And kick religion out of education. No religion in anything that perports to be a "school". Not just public schools. Allowing these brainwashed morons to opt their kids out of legitimate education, and dumping anti-science propaganda on them under the guise of "religious education" is cult indoctrination, and twisting the definition of education to encompass theist propaganda.

For real tho, if math is universal languange, why the fuck nobody can speak it

And Elvis and JFK are dead … along with Marilyn and Jim Morrison. And birds are real

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You almost had me, mate. But birds are just CGI.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I don't know, RHCP said: "space is the final frontier, but it's made in a Hollywood basement."

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Yeah, but they also said "Give it away, give it away, give it away now" and I don't hold with socialism!

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Well, no evolution is not a "fact" it is still a theory. That it is the ONLY scientific theory that has withstood every challenge so far is a fair indicator it is factual, but even Darwin would acknowledge it is still only a theory. And as Arthur C Clarke said, "Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic."

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Comparing science to magic is doing it a disservice.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

But chemtrails ARE a thing. If the chemicals you think are in them are condensed water vapor and jet engine exhaust. THOSE ARE CHEMICALS!

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Trans people are people.

2 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

Wasn't there instances of the government actually using chem trails in the 50's for some insane scientific experiment thing that produced and uptick in cancer?

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Many times there is a small hints of truth in "conspiracy" to something else, but it's not the government trying to control minds and it was not cloudseeding. In the late 40's and 50's the government did in fact experiment in Geoengineering a.k.a. "Terraforming" within the earth's atmosphere but the experiments where canceled as farmers in the southwest complained of extreme weather phenomenon. The plan was to use the plane delivered Geoengineering for war to control weather on the battlefield.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Before the experiments where conducted in the Southwest local farmers where given yellow flyers notifying the farmers effected of when and where the weather would change. I meet a local farmer that still has the original 50's flyers that was given to them by the military and an address to write for filing weather related damages during the experiments. It vaugly explains how its plane based, releasing gases and chemicals that are harmless to livestock and how it is different from cloud seeding.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Many years after the experiments where canceled the military took the lessons learned, adapted the techniques, equipment and concept of operations to instead move forward with the Agent Organge program in the Vietnam War for supply routes from Cambodia as a jungle defoliant. As time past the two projects Agent Organge and its forgotten ancestor project became military lore and picked up by uninformed civilians as "conspiracy" in the anti-military sentiment from the Vietnam War. Resulting in now.

What is 'star dust'? Oxygen atoms? Carbon atoms? Wow, how sensational. We are just star dust. Or is it stars are made up of human dust?

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

No star is made up of any real amount of human dust, humans are nearly 100% star dust. Under current theories effectively no heavy elements formed in the big bang. Just Hydrogen and Helium. Everything denser was made through fission in a star.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Using that logic, a human is created by another human. All the atomic material was made through the biological process conducted by a human. Human is human dust?

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Well, yeah, humans make more humans. Stellar fission creates the atoms of various elements, chemical and biological processes make the molecules, sexual reproduction produces the amalgamated DNA strand and initial cell, consumption provides additional molecules for growth and energy.

Assuming that matter cannot be created or destroyed, giving birth (the entire process from conception) is converting nutrients consumed by the mother into the matter making up the child. If all matter/energy always existed in one form or another, why do we choose star dust as the baseline/starting point. Other than to romanticize our being. If we are stardust then all matter (expect stars themselves, I guess) are categorized as stardust. Not so special anymore, huh? 😁

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

I don’t understand why you’re so proud about spotting obviously poetic language. No one is claiming we were directly created by stars. This is a really weird flex.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I mean, stars have existed for way more time than humans, so it goes in that order, but hey maybe in a few billions of years there might be a star made up of human dust

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

OK, but Jeffrey Epstein still didn't kill himself.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I think my Maga brother disagrees with more than half of these statements.

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Just out of curiosity which ones would he agree with

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Evolution, stardust and science being real. Anything that is contradictory to his version of the bible.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Well if the science is real to them, there's hope. The scientific method creates a base for logical thought. 'The Republican War on Science' by Chris Mooney might be a good read for them. "Why are my cult leaders trying to kill something I believe in?" Perhaps that creates enough cognitive dissonance to make them distance themselves from the MAGA cult.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That's a great recommendation. It's too bad he claims to have a third grade reading level.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Perhaps this slightly dumbed down version -- a lecture by the author could help them https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dhzf9bXm96U

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Evolution is an observable phenomena. The Theory of Evolution is everything we know about it. Like there's the physical area we call Texas, then there's a map of Texas. Saying "evolution is just a theory, it hasn't been proven yet" is like saying "Texas is just a map. It hasn't been proven yet." It's kind of backwards - we wouldn't have the map if Texas didn't exist, even if the map is imperfect.

Recent evidence has come up that the universe might actually go through periods of expansion and contraction

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

This is the Big Crunch theory. It states that the universe goes through phases of expansion until it shrinks back down into a singularity only to "bang" again.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This would contradict with the widely accepted notion that things are expanding at accelerating at increasing speed. A source could definitely be useful for such radical claim.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Unfortunately i dont have one, take what i said with a very large grain of salt because its just a rumor i heard

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Well it's not at least on https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cyclic_model and https://big">odel">https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cyclic_model and https://bigthink.com/starts-with-a-bang/no-universe-before-big-bang/ is quite recent

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Citation please?

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

chemtrails are real, they're toxic, and they're everywhere. generally we just call it "engine exhaust" though.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

What those people call chemtrails, and what most of us see in the sky after a plane passed, are water vapor. Air is heated and compressed in the turbine engines, then it cools and decompresses leaving water mist.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Thank you, yes. And times 100,000 flights/day, that high-altitude condensation is a powerful global-warming emission :/

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

yes. i am making a joke.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Well, you should talk with some "chemtrail" people. They're definitely not funny.

Math is the fundamental language. By virtue of describing reality, it contains all other languages (and everything else) within itself.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Look, all the not-subjective statements are true and sure, the scientific method is great and all but, man, this substance-less "science, fuck yeah!" kinda shit always makes me roll my eyes. It's so masturbatory.

2 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 3

But it's also a way to show how many things would have to be BS at the same time. You don't have to go further than this thread to see there are people who believe only in some of this. Seeing the whole picture of pseudo science can still help some people recognize danger, before they get the chance to dive into each cash-grab roach motel of BS.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

It also leaves out that there is also *bad* science - studies funded by third parties, researchers with their own biases, eminent authorities in fields who don't like being questioned and so on and so forth. Never mind that popular reporting may distort findings further. I really like science but I greatly dislike how some try to make it into the secular man's religion where it's always correct and provides easy answers.

Yeah, psychology. Wouldn't want to do any thinking, now.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Woot!!!

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I think we need to bring back Christian sectarian violence. Get Christians killing each other over abstruse questions of theology.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Honestly I’d be down to rid Christianity of some heretics that won’t support Christ’s message to be kind to your fellow man. In against going out and trying to change another’s religion but I’m all down for purging the church of the poison that is greedy charlatans preaching a gospel of hate. Bring back the preaching of the beatitudes and the great commandment. DEUS VULT!

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Then all those priests, who have been taught Jesus, who have molested children must have studied what part of Jesus's teachings?

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

They've studied all the relevant parts that can be used to shame anyone going after them. Also: "You tell I raped that altar boy and I'll reveal every sin you confessed me over the past three decades. Yes, I've kept a record of them."

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

They dont study Jesus' teaching. Study might lead to knowledge, and knowledge is a fast track to accepting science, and that is the devil's tool.

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Who is this church rooting for here?

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

My guess is the Republicans.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Not the good guy.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I obey Jesus. I do everything he tells me. So far, he hasn't told me anything because he's fucking dead.

2 years ago | Likes 51 Dislikes 0

By that logic I'm still obeying God as well. Thankfully I'm not schizophrenic and don't have any sons or nearby hills with sacrificial altars on them so I should be in the clear.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I do everything Jesus tells me to because he’s my boss. But I don’t do anything hector tells me because he ain’t my boss even though he acts like it. Pendejo

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I always thought they had to obey god and follow jesus.. but hey, we all know they dont do that either.

2 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

OR imaginary?

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

There's actual evidence that Jesus existed. He's mentioned in multiple writing of Jewish and Roman historians not later than 300..400 years after his lifetime. He had good ideas about how to treat the poor, and the rest is your basic mysticism turned into commercialized, organized, value extraction and population control cult.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

300 years is a long time.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

What you mention is not evidence.

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

sort of like a low res video of bigfoot. :)

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Well, not reliable evidence.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

You mean I should've provided sources, or that the existing sources are not reliable enough? The alternative is, there was a bunch of greedy people who decided to start their own religion, they came up with story about Jesus, tracked down historians, forced their story into all those independent records etc. Could of course be 400 years of stories, but given the secular nature of modern historians, why would they not be critical about quality of their sources?
