Carve it out and make it a coffee mug.
TheRocketFiend
Get a multicolored candle and let that bad boy burn atop its skull-mount.
thattusguyus
Or get a black candle and let it melt down over the skull... rivulets of black wax with that bright glowing skull underneath...
spitfires2000
Can't you reset the build plane and make the top of the skull zero and start printing again?
HeadJamistan
I do this all the time. It's extra work to make it look nice, but rewarding at the same time.
AntTrapHouse
You can use alot less infill and it will print faster and be just as strong. Cool colors tho
Draig1
Put a hat on it
johnnyhavok
Lower your infill %. That will reduce print time considerably. 10-15% should be more than adequate.

Print a brain. Glue it to the top, exposed.

At least the spool jammed so you didn’t find a giant pool of spaghetti. Had a 20 hour print break off an hour into it. Left an worked a 12.
That hurts, lucky mine had only ran jammed for about four hours
Doobular
Hollow it out, baby you got a stew bowl going!
OR, or, still hollow it out, print the remaining top, slap a hinge on it, Brain Box!
OnoMichiosCharmingHassakuFace
Someone took the Carl Weathers workshop.
suprgeek
@OP, not ruined. Measure how far you got, slice your print at that point, print the remaining piece, and acetone weld them together.
djml9
It would never make a clean seam, even with an acetone weld.
namAehT
Or if it's PLA just super glue it.
I totally thought about doing that but since then I’ve decided to print another one and stack them.

AWanderingMage
Everyone is a noob at one point, no need to talk down about his mistakes.
High infill is for strength, and considering I was going for a full skull, yeah it was ruined.
WhoWatchesTheWatchm3n
High infill doesnt mean strong best thing is like 20% infill and raise the perimeter count
Why such a high infill? You could probably get away with like 5 perimeters and 0% infill and it would print way faster.
I did it for strength, I don’t want it to break if it ever gets dropped, had bad luck in the past
JoshuaCM0408
Make brains out of jello and use it as a serving tray.

3D printing in a nutshell.
WisdomOnTheLandscape
Why do you use so much infill? For quicker Color Changes?
Looks like it's a layer based change, most printers support M600 which (usually) includes a purge routine.
clid3r
Maybe adjust the infill down some? You could get away witg a lot less and cut the print time down a decent amount (I would think)
Have the STL file for this? Curious to see how long it would take my CraftborXL to print an extra large version. And I’m not doing anything
https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:518109
I’m out for the evening but I’ll report back tomorrow and see how big I can get this. I’ll try multicolor too. Been getting good at it.

Your infill looks really high there. If you drop it to, say, 20% your print will run faster and you'll use less filament.
YoungRascal
Just what I was thinking. Seems like a big waste of filament and time and more chance of something going wrong.
Anything solid on the model is automatically calculated as infill withon the set number of wall layers (usually 3).
In a slicer program you can set the shape and percentage
Nah, use the progressive fill. It saves a ton more than standard infil
Or increase the perimeter count and drop the infill to zero
3nd3rwiggin
Terms that I do not think existed in our language even 5 years ago?
Infill can help to support some of the flatter areas such as the bottom of the eyesockets. But that could work, too.
True, but with a lot of perimeters it doesn't matter if some of the internal ones fall a bit
vowofloudness
More room for brain!
One time I knocked a really cool print off my shelf by accident, It Shattered into about 20 pieces, I did it like this for strength.
ThatRutter
The lighter it is, the less force that it hits the ground with. Unless its a part that is constantly under stress I dont go above 15% infil.
vindik8or
More infill will never reduce the brittleness of the base material.
Thranx
You'll have a stronger part in that sense by dropping your infil and increasing your perimeter by 1. Way too dense, especially for decor.
Youve seriously over compensated, here. Double the wall thickness if youre that concerned. Hell, even that is more than necessary.
zcorneli
I can see the infill through the perimeter. Likely means your perimeter is too thin. Add 1-2 perimeter thicknesses, and drop infill to 15%
What filament are you using i have printed pla at 15% and dropped from a height and that shit bounces
How big was it? Drop something big and see what happens
PokemonNumber351
I have 2 kinds of PLA. Other will shatter from anything, and other needs side cutters to even remove the support structures.
