Repairing a disguised cell phone tower in Arizona

Jun 30, 2025 9:38 PM

The ppl who make fake Christmas trees should partner up with the cell tower ppl. Imagine a 200ft fully decked out white Christmas tree like, right there.

Cactus aren't real!? What's next, birds aren't real either?

Only way to keep the morons there from destroying them because of "5G"

Now to see who this cactus REALLY is! Cellphone Tower Tom??
I would have gotten away with it if it weren't for you nosy kids!

5G is the quenchiest

I can't really tell from this photo- how convincing are these things? I guess either way the idea is that it looks better than the stick.

I mean, you can usually tell they're fake if you really look at them, but at least they blend in better than the fake pine trees, which we also have. In the desert. Because pine trees look so natural here.

I knew it! God damn robo bird charging ports

I wonder if that is one of those hallucinogenic cell towers?

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's not a disguised cell tower, it's an electric cactus. They were used in the Wild West to recharge EV wagon trains.

It is the same with houses.
There are tons of fake houses all over the world to hide telephony equipment like land lines.
There is one in nearly every neighborhood and you definitely have gone past a ton without ever noticing.

First they came for the birds
And then they came for the cactus

I can imagine the cell phone tower technician covered in cactus thorns desperately looking for the fake cactus touching another real one saying "Ouch, nope not this one either!"

Do... do all cactis have bones?

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Crazy how nature does that

My favorite are the ones which look like terrible fake Christmas trees, which don't even come close to looking like trees in the area

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I live in Arizona and we have some of those here too. They REALLY blend in here in the desert, where pine trees are definitely not native.

"How do you do, fellow cacti?"

Now do the birds

I know you're making a joke, but:

I live in Arizona & one Saturday morning, I was at a pop-up artisan market. I stopped at a stall with a bunch of cool artwork. I chatted with the artist who explained that she harvests dead cacti, thinly slicing the insides, which look like coral, to use in her art. I was debating between 2 pieces when she proceeded to go on a tangent about how COVID was a hoax, vaccines cause autism, & how her whole family is cops who voted for Trump. She lost a sale from me.

Oh, and a year or so later, I was at that same market with two friends. Those friends wandered to that same stall and were admiring her work. When one of them was considering buying a piece, I quietly whispered that this artist is a huge antivaxxer MAGAt. My friend also opted not to buy from her.

So, fuck you, random MAGAt artist.

Well don't give it away! Not so disguised anymore, is it?

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Believe it or not, that cell tower is over 200 years old.

1 year ago | Likes 75 Dislikes 1

It grows its first array after 45 years.

Wow! Nature is beautiful

1 year ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

You can tell because it has at least one arm.

1 year ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Wow. I have two arms. I wonder how old I am?

There's a cemetery near here with a fake steeple hiding s cell tower.

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

How do you fake a steeple? It's just a spire on top of a building, right?

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

There's no building, its just freestanding. And a fake bell tower.

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's wild.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

There's enough trees and stuff to fool someone at a distance. And its at the top ofna hill, so you dont really see it unless you look for it. But if you are actually in the cemetary it looks obviously absurdly fake lol.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Oh yeah, that's so weird looking up close! If I were in charge, I would want something that looks good when you are right next to it but can look weird from a distance, what with it being less of an eyesore the farther away you get. That's just me though.

Otherwise people with firearms shoot them for target practice.

I thought that was firefighters.

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Awww, and here i thought it was for landscape beautification so it doesn't look like a star war's city planner's wet dream!

1 year ago | Likes 44 Dislikes 1

It is, downvote me if you must but there's plenty of un-shot at telecommunications infrastructure here in AZ, the statement is inaccurate.

1 year ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 1

People have shot the 5g ones up here but only during the initial COVID panic...

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

The new Verizon towers come with a 'Sea whizz' (CIWS) built in for anti-redneck defense... (Cactus go BRRRRRR! - https://youtu.be/3aHaMgAwTiA )

1 year ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Do people not shoot cacti for fun?

1 year ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Not saguaro, not here, and not if you don't wanna go to jail and pay a hefty fine. They're a protected species.

1 year ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

I think one guy was killed after a damaged branch fell on him as a result of him shooting it.

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That does not stop people, they just try harder to not get caught
