Was yellow shirt man on a date? Sewing machine leg suggests he was nervous, stimming or both. Hopefully his date was as eager and nervous about seeing him because that sort of shit is serious meet cute.
Is this an over performance for food? Yes. Do i want it anyways? Also yes. Do i wanna pay w/e the ridiculous price it would cost for this? Probably fucking not. Like im sure its plenty good, but is it good enough to justify w/e they are probably charging for it... doubt it
Are we storing... well my first thought was oil but given how it burned I'm guessing some kind of alcohol, in our teapots now? Also truffle is too damn good for how expensive it is and I really don't understand why we can't cultivate that shit
Do we really need to cultivate them? Truffles are good, but they just taste like mushrooms got cooked with garlic to me. Both crops that are easier to cultivate and easily cooked together to get a very similar taste from. It wouldnt surprise me if this is what restaurants are doing most of the time and claiming its truffles so they can charge more for the same dish.
From my understanding, we could cultivate it if we really wanted, but whoever does it is going to have to do something like 15-20 years of careful work before they see their first marketable harvest. The ramp-up time to production is just too long to be viable on the scale of the human lifespan.
My understanding is its less about soil and more about no matter what we do truffles won't fruit unless they have host trees, so you have to plant the trees, infect the trees roots with the truffles spores, then wait like 5 or more years and hope it worked out.
Today I learned that European menus have a food allergy chart and the dishes list the allergy codes after them. Also interesting that it has all of that AND the disclaimer on the bottom
I would do that to you for free. *wink* /s (In reality, you would think your head was about to be hit by the cheese, but then it would turn out to be a thin tissue paper mache replica that was realistic enough to fool you, so after you realized that you survived, you were glad to be alive to be able to eat the real cheese, which I would serve you, lol. The experience would cost you at least $3.50).
Not complaining about your comment... I was actually going to type something like 150 just for the truffle, but this other guy just bitch slapped us...
The only thing that goes against the grain for me is the "Florentine" complete with quotation marks. I'd find a way to sneak that into the description without the quotation marks, maybe "Florentine-style" later on. Just my brain.

Leave the wheel
AnxiousCuttlefish
I was absolutely expecting more grated cheese instead of truffles at the end lol

Do you want some pasta on your cheese?
Sure!
Wait, what?!
djguydan
Or hear me out on this......a cheese grater.

Ugh, stay away with that truffle shit. Also, this needs to be 50% larger, I gotta eat.

Literally… nobody :)

We went to a ridiculously expensive restaurant for wife's birthday and I ordered this, the house special, thought it'd be an experience worth it
Biggest let down of the year lol
wurstkaesescenario
The cheap one. A really cheap one without any branding. Like Grana Padano or Parmigiano Reggiano.
VinnyVeritas
Can the human gut even process that much cheese? And If I could meet an attractive woman that has no gag reflex to that slop...

I just tried to give my wife some cheese and, despite my magical hand waving, she was not the least bit fascinated.
Hatlled
Next time, wrap that cheese in a $100 bill. Guaranteed, she'll be fascinated then.
drousnavat
That's hot
GreaseMonkeyOfLove
Aaaaand they ruin it with the fungus shavings.
Kyen155
Hear, hear!

That's not going to taste of anything else but truffle
Racealistic
I mean you can ask to not have it on. I do think truffles are overrated and overused but lots of people genuinely like them.
Jamesstin
Quite the open mind for food .. cheese and noodles
GreaseMonkeyOfLove
You have no concept for how much I despise the taste of mushrooms.
Jamesstin
Are you sure it's not a texture thing? Cause I used to not like the texture but mushrooms are booomb. Esp mushroom soup or on pizza
GreaseMonkeyOfLove
Sautéed, grilled, boiled, baked, freeze dried, no matter how it’s prepared, it still makes me heave violently.
CaptnVatka
For me, the white button and cremini mushrooms are horrendous. I've been gradually exploring other types of fungus and they haven't been horrible.
DerpMeister
How come?

That's WAY too much cheese and truffle

I disagree. Not nearly enough.

"WAY too much cheese"

We've got 20 year old scotch. I guess it's a matter of how much we want it. LOL.

https://macleans.ca/society/truffle-farming-harvest-okanagan/ Article about someone who did it in BC nearly 2 decades to get the first harvest.
Kinsa83
Well that explains the recent truffle explosion in my area the last few year. Being in the PNW and all.
alcamar
That'll be $125

Most recent menu has it at €28, which is $32.69 (nice). I'd pay that for the little table-side performance! https://www.osteriapastella.it/menu/
JonnyTightlips
That's is actually extremely reasonable for that dish... especially with the fresh truffle.
RocketKokket
Yeah and a very generous amount of it too. It’d easily be $125 here in Canada on many menus
KellyCrazyCatLadyinTraining
Oh SNAP! I LOVE some good sauce!!
Aranon1183
I'd pay 4x that if they just bash my head open with that cheese.
KellyCrazyCatLadyinTraining
I would do that to you for free. *wink* /s

Even though the initial contact was just a joke, your fact-smacking is epic and gets a +1
SomebodythatIusedtonope
But the half form of Grana Padano it will pass the 300€ for sure(☞ ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)☞
Poopoopeepeevagina
Exactly, it didn't really need to be "face-smacked" but you chose to do it anyway and I applaud that.

Yep, i apparently mentally budgeted for a couples meal with a drink each plus taxes without knowing it 😁
