Electronic music has always, in general, been firmly rooted in a strong leftist basis. Look at how popular Love Parade became. What you see in those parades are straight, gay, lesbian, bi, trans, and queer people all together. White, black, male, female, young, old, rich, poor. Doesn't matter. All together, celebrating peace, love, unity, and respect. Unfortunately a lot of people find groups of hate, because they are looking for identity and connection. 1/2

Many of these individuals are people who could be given a much better alternative, earlier on, and thus avoid having them corrupt themselves with hatred and violence. But I don't have a particular solution on how this should be done large-scale. Whatever the case, I think we should all focus more on class struggle as a common unifier, and have this as primary foundation, and to be something to continue to build upon. 2/2

I think my deradicalization started when I fell in love with a Turkish man. Sadly we didn't end up together though. Next big thing was moving out of my hometown and home country. Almost a year later I started smoking weed because I hurt my back, and I'd think about things. A few years later I tried DMT and experienced ego death, and the last bits of far right bullshit fell out of my brain. Living through poverty and mental health issues and knowing people with other issues has helped too.

I think a lot of people in hate groups don't have good people to look up to in life so end up looking up to bad people sometimes due to access sometimes to rebel a bit. But largely when these people are shown and open up to good people they see they are wrong. Early Davis is an amazing example of this and an incredible human being

A lot of the time they are simply looking to blame all their problems on someone else. They can't stand someone they see as inferior being happy and enjoying life when they are so completely miserable. So rather than be introspective and figure out that their biggest enemy is themselves and their self-loathing, they lash out with hatred to bring others down to their level so they can feel like they are in control again.

Yep. Whether it's the literal death of a Nazi or the ideological death of a Nazi, the important point is that the Nazi is no longer a threat to others. Sadly, as situations grow more dire, the time we have left to allow them to take the ideological route is dwindling, and the risk that people will have to ensure the literal one is growing.

A good case for this was made by Senator Robert Byrd. He joined the KKK in the 1940's and was active in recruitment. After entering politics, he lost interest in the Klan and then rejected it entirely. He was a Senator up until the time of his death and made every effort to renounce the Klan and everything they stood for. He was especially eager to stop young people from joining. I think Byrd more than made up for his earlier sins.

I think that's my biggest hangup with the way we act towards the right these days. Yes, the ideology is repugnant and the peoples actions are repugnant. But this guy hits the nail on the head. "Filled the needs of identity, purpose and belonging." So many assholes I know are assholes because they were searching for identity, purpose and belonging and the community that they were surrounded by provided it in red hats and confederate flags. Once you're in it, it's difficult to escape the echo.

The implication was written into the comment. I read the comment. I inferred the meaning of the comment. We can all argue about interpretation, but the comment says what it says. And I find it disrespectful. This response, in person, to the man speaking, would be very out-of-line. He never said "I did drugs" and in fact didn't mention them at all.
